furniture feature friday | favorites & link party

Furniture Feature Friday
I spent a good part of the day today making cinnamon ornaments, which filled the whole house with deliciousness.  It was a fun “craft” to do on an overcast day with occasional flurries.  The boys wanted to eat them as an after-school snack, but I had to explain, at least twice, that they have glue in them and wouldn’t be very tasty or good for one’s tummy.  I’ll share the recipe and how they turned out tomorrow.  Tonight, it’s all about furniture and these are my favorites from last week…
I love the detail on this buffalo check chair slip by Shelley of Slipcovers by Shelley.  My slipcovers tend to be a bit looser, but I love the tailored structure and the buttons of these!  I might have to tighten up my precision and give this a try.

Most of you know that I have a soft spot for empire dressers and this one by Beth of Mary Beth’s Place has a surprise in the top drawer.  You’ll have to click over to see it, but it is a gorgeous piece.  I love how she addressed the issues through repairs and paint and let the beautiful wood of the drawers remain.

Of course, this dresser caught my eye immediately!  It was inspired by one of my dressers, but Rachel of The Olde Windmill Farm made it her own.  I think she did a beautiful job on the hand painting.

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…
1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.
2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.
3.) This party will close Friday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF. Enjoy the party!

  1. Thanks so much for these link parties Marian! I love all 3 of the features you posted about this week but I have to say those red and white buffalo check seat covers have me swooning. Heading over to Slipcovers by Shelley right now to see what other wonderful things she has made.
    fondly,

  2. Gorgeous picks! Love that empire dresser – leaving part of the original wood leaves me weak at the knees almost every time I see a piece done that way.

Merry Christmas, Marian, in case I don’t leave another comment before the day. At some point, I really need to stay off this computer and get down to the final squeeze of the holiday. I hope your family has a great holiday and that Santa is good to all of you. 🙂

  3. Thanks for hosting the party. Those are some fabulous features, and the painted one tricked me for just a minute…I thought it was yours!
Looking forward to reading more about the ornaments.

  4. Fantastic favourites – the empire dresser is gorgeous. We don’t get furniture shaped like that in Australia. It always surprises me how different our furniture is.
Love the story about your boys wanting to eat the craft. very cute

  5. I have been so inspired by you for so many years and thanks to you, I have been brave enough to tackle re-doing nearly every piece of furniture in our home. Love your video tutorials too! Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

  6. I’m enjoying todays furniture links, as I do every Friday. I have a question: Can I post a picture if I dont have a blog? I’d like to but I don’t blog. I’ve tried finding that info on your websitebut I haven’t been successful. Thanks.

  7. I always enjoy seeing which pieces you select to highlight each week. I love the piece by Rachel, really beautiful. Also, the workmanship on those slipcovers is superb.
On a side note, as a (long-time) reader I find it so irritating that when I click a link in your posts it doesn’t open a new window, but rather directs me away from your page. I end up having to hit the back arrow until I find you or search for your site again.
That’s my two cents worth. 🙂

  8. Did you know that at one time buffalo check was considered “formal?” I visited
Thomas Jefferson’s home in Va. and the dining room chairs were done in the very
    same red buffalo check.
