Vintage Bliss & Sporting my Colors

Well, two days of retailer training sessions yesterday wiped me out!  Here’s a shot of me teaching yesterday (Thanks, Allison, for the photo!)

Last night, I was trying to catch up on e-mail and such, plus I needed time to wind down, so I was up way too late. Well, it was just two days and it was all worth it.  It was such a creative high and so nice to get out of my bubble.

While at the workshop yesterday, I got to check in on the shop of our hosts in Ellicot City, MD, Vintage Bliss.

Oh my gosh.  I don’t know how these girls put all of this together.  It’s three floors of loveliness from clothing and boots to kitchenware, furniture, paper goods, jewelry and all things pretty.

And I loved seeing their beautiful display of all of my milk paint line and products…

They’ve made some sweet sample jars with instructions for mixing a perfect batch of milk paint…

…and have some really great samples.  This one of Lucketts Green is my absolute favorite.

So, the two days away from my computer and workshop were so inspirational and well worth the catch up I’m having to do now.

Today was about brainstorming with these amazing ladies…

From left to right it’s Laura of The Ironstone Nest (the newest member of our growing MMSMP team), Abbe Doll of All Dolled Up, me, and Jennylyn of Homestead House. You might recognize the backdrop.  We met in my house at the dining room table to discuss the future, things we can do better, things we need to change and to just chat.  And there was a lot of chatting that went on!  It was really a wonderful time and we had a lot of strokes of brilliance.  Well, self-proclaimed brilliance, anyway! And they all shopped my basement stash, which was fun to watch.  I made sure everyone left with some goodies, too.

And I got some wonderful gifts as well…a mug from Laura, a lovely ornament from Veronica (our new Australian distributor), and this wrap bracelet from Abbe…

I noticed her wearing one yesterday and actually thought I would like one.  I wear my Up bracelet all the time and it’s a little bulky, so it’s nice to pair it with other bracelets, so it’s camouflaged a little.  Well, Abbe handed me a little bag before she left and in it was a wrap bracelet for me!  I immediately told her how I noticed hers and wanted one, so it was perfect.  I wrapped it around my wrist and didn’t pay attention to the colors of the beads.  Abbe pointed them out to me.  Can anyone see what they are?

They are the 18 colors of my milk paint line!  How incredibly thoughtful and sweet was that?  The bracelet was made by Priscilla Allred, if you’re curious.

Now the sessions and meetings are behind me and I’m ready to get back into my groove.  The dresser in the basement is calling my name and a brush beckons…

Marian — looks like a wonderfully inspiring time was had by all! Isn’t it the best when the teacher learns as much as the students???

On another note — you’re looking FAB! I know looks aren’t everything, but I wanted to acknowledge that your efforts to get your body into a healthier state is paying off! You look even tighter than you were at Haven. Well done.

Ok I’ve been thinking this for a while but now after seeing the photos of you in this post… and I mean this in the most respectful way possible… you have GOT to change your photo on your blog homepage… you have WAAAAAAY more spunk and personality than that photo conveys… that scarf and ‘mom haircut’ are aging you at least 10 years. You are a hip, talented chick and your photo ought to reflect that!

  24. Miss Mustard Seed

So funny! I met Jeanne Oliver in person today and she said the same thing. “You are way more hip than your profile picture!” Yes, I’m working on getting an updated photo shoot.
