upheaval and linen sheets

Disclosure: This post about washed linen sheets is sponsored by Brooklinen.  As always, all opinions and words are honest and my own.

Anyone who has moved before knows that moving and upheaval are synonymous.  Our house is being dismantled piece by piece.  There are boxes everywhere and things covering surfaces, waiting their turn to be packed.  But, there is one place that is free from the mayhem until the very last day – the beds.  The mirrors are sold, the bed crown was taken down, but the bed is still outfitted and comfy.  The floors might be fuzzy and the countertops crumby, but the sheets are fresh and clean.  Moving makes a body dog tired, so the bed has to be at its best.

And, I even got a new Linen Sheet Bundle from Brooklinen.  Yes, it’s one more thing to move, but a set of linen sheets is worth moving.  And I get another great box!

Before we dive into the delights of linen sheets, let’s talk about Brooklinen for a minute.  I have partnered with them before and have shopped from them as a customer as well.  I keep coming back to Brooklinen because their products are beautiful, durable, luxurious, and well-priced.  In fact, they are currently running their 20% off birthday sale, which is their biggest sale of the year, so their prices are even better now through May 4, 2022.

I know that high praise in a sponsored post can bring out the skeptical squinty eyes, but Brooklinen has over 100,000 five-star reviews from their customers and that’s a pretty powerful testimony to the quality of their products.

One thing I really like about shopping their sheet bundles (I have the Luxe Hardcore Bundle and now the Linen Hardcore Bundle) is that you can mix and match the colors of the sheets, pillowcases, duvet cover, and shams.  I like mixing white and cream, but I got an all-cream linen sheet bundle this time.  Their cream is a very pleasing off-white that is soft and not too yellow. (I shared about the Luxe Hardcore Bundle HERE.)

Their sheet bundles and duvet sets also come in cotton bags, so you can fold them up and store them in a bag that will keep the dust off between washings.  I find that sometimes I’m in the mood for smooth cotton and other times I want nubby linen.

And Brooklinen’s washed linen sheets have the yummiest texture.  I didn’t know if I would like linen sheets, but I have been using them for years and they are my favorite.  They get softer with each wash and better with age.

You know you have good sheets when the bed looks beautiful with just a fitted and a flat sheet.

I also added my Brooklinen Linen quilt that is a perfect weight for summer.  It’s nice and light and has washed so well.

The linen duvet cover on Brooklinen’s Lightweight Comforter just puts it over the top.  After the work I’ve been doing lately and being sick, I wanted to crawl into this bed more than I wanted to photograph it.

There are holes to patch and paint that needs to be touched up, but my bed looks sumptuous.

I wonder how long it’s going to take for a cat to curl up on that crumply linen duvet cover…

I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again here.  If you can splurge in one area of your home, not for resale value or for photos to share online, but for you, splurge on your bed.  Get a mattress you love, bedding that you sink into, and a bed frame that makes you miss it when you travel.  It may just be for you and your significant other, but it’s worth it.

  1. I will second your recommendation of Brooklinen products. I have 3 sets of their luxe sheets (in different colours) and some of their now apparently discontinued waffle towels and I have been very pleased with them all.

I agree that a quality mattress and bedding are worth every penny one spends.

  2. Everything aside, I want to tell you how lovely you look lately. Not that you looked terrible before, no! But you have a special glow & beauty about you during your videos on FB. I know you don’t feel very good right now with your foot being broken, but I just had to tell you this! You also sound better today & hope you’ve finally kicked that cold out of your system. Get some rest & heal.

  3. Praying for your foot and your overall wellness ❤️ Thank you Marian for your encouragement as we too pack up for a move. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart! I told my husband about your foot last night as we also faced some unexpected setbacks about selling our house. God bless you guys with His peace and all the help you need.

  4. I moved recently too and offer empathy. Just keep moving forward and know that very soon you will be settled in again and starting a new adventure.

Yummy sheets are such an excellent way to began a well earned slumber. Rub you feet together and dream 🙂

  5. I can’t afford nice sheets. 🙁 2 reasons…. my two spoiled dogs who insist on sleeping with us every night and are responsible for nibbled edges on the flat sheet of every single set of sheets I own. Not to mention, their dirty paws and stains made by one of them who constantly licks everything for soothing. And, last but not least, financially I cannot afford them. That’s why when I travel and stay at a nice hotel I appreciate those really nice sheets over my Walmart specials. ha ha….

    1. Aw, it sounds like there is a lot of love and that having sheets for this season of life is a good trade-off. ?

    2. Karen, I’m with you. I have 5 cats, 2 of whom are special needs. When they jump on the bed, 9 times out of 10 a claw gets stuck and hole appears. All 4 sides of my sheets are sort of shredded. I looked these sheets up and would absolutely love a set but within a couple weeks, they would have tears, so no nice sheets for me.

  6. Some how I missed that you have a broken foot! What happened? So sorry that you’re in the midst of packing and have an injury to manage also.

  7. FYI – sadly, according to their website the birthday sale ends today, not May 4.

  8. My cat always manages to get in my bed just before I finish making it. Then it’s a war of wills to see if I can finish making the bed before she bites me for moving her. Don’t come between a cat and their bed!

  9. I love Brooklinen, as well! We currently have their cotten set and a flannel set. Linen is now on my list!

You continue to amaze me. Packing, selling, broken foot, not to mention a family to continue to care for! And you still find time to post? Wow!

Thanks for all you do for us!
