Two Tiered Stand Makeover

Today, people drove for five hours and arrived at my house with a truck full of furniture and other wonderful things and they were thanking me for it.  Doesn’t that sound odd to you?  My aunt and uncle were thanking me for “taking stuff off their hands.”  They are good people.  My house is a wreck at the moment, but I’ll share it all with you when things settle down.  I also found some great things in my day out antiquing and I’ll share those pieces as well.
Until then, I’ll share another recent makeover with you.  I love makeovers that are simple, yet dramatic.  It can’t get any easier than white spray paint.
This two tiered stand wasn’t bad, but the “silver” was foggy and the entire piece just looks tired.
I just sprayed it with two coats of bright white in satin by Krylon.
It looks fresh and updated, now, and would be a perfect way to display anything from cupcakes to jewelry.
I really wanted to replace the bow with something else, but, short of sawing it off, there was no way to remove just the bow.  Now that it’s white, I don’t mind it all that much.

I staged it in blue and white…my favorite.
Tomorrow we’re setting up our booth for Lucketts and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.  It’s going to be a crazy weekend!

  1. How sweet that they thanked you for taking things off their hands. I can't wait to see what treasures you received. I love the two tired plate stand that you revamped. What a difference paint makes!

  2. A simply beautiful makeover. I love the Krylon bright white satin, but have trouble finding it. Can always find flat or gloss, but not satin.

  3. cute! I've been looking for a tiered gadget/stand for a while…people must hold onto these, as I never do see one. But boy, when I do…I'm grabbing it!
Love the way yours turned out.
    Especially the bow!

  4. I have to ask…have you ever found any information about the safety of using spray-painted dishware for food? I have made a couple of tiered stands, and I wonder it they would be okay for anything but decoration. BTW–love the bow in the white!

  5. A sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm. I'm so inspired when I read the simple ways that people improve on the things they come across. I'm looking at things in a whole new light these days, and I'm more aware of their potential. Good luck with your sale! Ciao, bella!

  6. What a transformation! It's lovely and you staged it beautifully! Good luck at Lucketts…people are going to swoon over your beautiful things!

Can't wait to hear all about it and see all the goodies you've collected! xoxo Beth

  9. I continue to be inspired by your choices. Nothing seems to be out of reach of your ability to transform! Keep up the good work, always excited to see your feed in my email box.

  10. You know what?! Your staging for the 2-tier just gave me a great idea to set mine beside the stove with course salt / pepper mill along with sugar bowl / creamer pitcher :O) Did you spray a finish coat of poly over the white?
Your blog is amazing :O) Gina
