the decision has been made

Yes.  I am going to sell my dining room set.  No “maybes”.  No “ifs”.  No “mights”.  It’s getting a tag on it and it’s coming to Lucketts.

It’s not as easy as packing it up and taking it there, though.  I never painted the last two chairs, so I worked on that tonight.  I also need to make two more seat slipcovers and apply one more coat of wax to the top.  (The design on this table top is gorgeous, by the way!)
This set comes with six chairs (two of them are arm chairs), six washable slipcovers, two leaves and table pads.
I might even throw in a free copy of the Cottages and Bungalows issue it was featured in.

What made me decide to give it up?  Well, that’s kind of the way I work, but mainly it was this…
A new dining set Pam-the-picker found for me.  I love the shape of these chairs!
I’m not as in love with the table, but with three leaves, it’s huge and will look nice when I’m done with it.
I’ve done an insane amount of work today.  Let’s see…I painted the interior of a china cabinet, a dresser, a buffet, four chairs, and the dining table base.  In addition, I applied gold leaf to a pair of French twin beds and night stand, stripped the top of my new dining table and cleaned up my workshop.  Somewhere in there I played with my boys, fed them, changed some diapers (I did have a babysitter this afternoon and my husband took over when he got home)…didn’t do any laundry or cleaning, though.  A girl can’t do it all!
Furniture Feature Friday posts tomorrow night and I’m hosting an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint giveaway on Friday.

  2. DON'T sell yours!! I love the style much more than the one Pam brought you!!

  3. Hi Marian!
I like your new table set! I now it's going to look fabulous once your done with it. The chairs remind me of the chairs I have in my garage waiting to be redone. I can't wait to see your finished results.
All the work your do is inspiring! You go girl!

    Take care,

    Cheryl

  4. WOW, girl you're on fire!!!!

You will work you magic on the new diningroom set; you definitely cannot go wrong with the size that 3 leafs gives.

What time do you get up in the morning???

  5. Ok, really, what do you eat? Super-food? Where do your super powers come from???

I'm excited for you and your new dining set. Someone will love your "old" set!

  6. Oh geez, don't think I could talk the hubsters into buying your old set but I am seriously swooning over it!!! and I've got the added bonus that I'm not too far from you (Harrisburg) plus we're heading down to Gettysburg soon so it seriously is all lining up perfectly for me… oh yeah, except that man that lives here too. Boo.

  7. Oh my goodness, I LOVED your old one. Wish I were closer, I'd snap it up. You've got a zillion times more energy than I do…I need some of whatever vitamins you take!

  8. Oh my stars. For reals, you must never sleep. I am feeling bittersweet about your decision to sell your current set (because the details on the legs are simply to die for) but so excited about your new set because IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ONE I AM WORKING ON! Lucky for me, I know you will finish yours wayyyy before mine, so I'll get some brilliant ideas from you 🙂 Lucky me though, I got to strip a forrest green paint from the top of my table and a hideous sponge paint job from all of my chairs. I can't wait to see what you do with yours. Is it Thomasville?

Can't wait for the giveway! Anne Marie- rest easy tonight my friend, I am the other blogger out there who has yet to try the chalk paint but am chomping at the bit…

    xoxo

  9. I think the new set is going to be amazing when you are done with it! Your old set is gorgeous, of course, but am interested to see how the new set looks when you give it the "spa" treatment.

You have an amazing amount of energy. It makes me tired just hearing all the stuff you got done. In fact, I'm going to bed right now! LOL!

    Best,

    Kimberly

  10. Nooooooooooo

    Keep the table.
    Ditch the chairs.

At least keep the table for a little while. The table you're replacing it with is so all over the place. I have yet to see a table like you currently have.

I would sit on your current table for a bit. Plus aren't the straight legs a nice foil for all the curvy legs everywhere? Is it good to have everything curvy french? I think not. And the top on the current one is super cool.

  11. Girl, you are killing me!!! I seriously thought you were going to keep the other set you just finished(cause I love it, you know you want to keep it, LOLOLOL!). This is what I love about you Marian(well, at least one of the things), you are willing to part with something and make something else great too, if not better. You are the bomb, and daggon, can't wait to see this new set!!! Oh, she does have purty legs, lol!

  12. I need a "Pam-the-picker" and an ounce of your energy! But I so get swapping out furniture from your home! That's my favorite part about being a junker and hosting an annual sale…..I get to keep the coolest stuff for myself & switch it out when I'm done with it!

  13. you could probably auction that baby and make a fortune! it's like a star in blogland after all. keep up the tireless work, and don't forget us little bloggy peeps when you reach the moon.

  14. Oh, I do hate to see that dining set go, I am so in LOVE with it! It's an MMS icon! However, I'm super excited to see the new chairs and table painted since that is the same chair I just completed as my first painted distressed piece!

  16. Good decision, you need inventory. But I still can't forgive you for painting the corner cupboards. I got about six Annie Sloan books from Amazon and am sending in my paint order today. You should become an Annie Sloan distributor. It would be a bonus for all your readers. Ann

  17. Seriously, how can you part with the awesome dining room set???…Reading through the comments here, me thinks your readers are going to go through a mourning phase when it's gone…lol…

  18. Your "new" set is beautiful! The feet of the table reminds me of a ballerina standing tall in her toe shoes…

  19. Where are you located and HOW MUCH for this incredible beautiful to die for table? I am dying. If I were a table, this would be me 🙂 lol
    -Madelyn

  20. Sell your old set to me!! I love it and have been searching for one like it for some time.

I'm not so far away…just Houston, TX. 🙂

    Angela

  21. I love the old one. Send it over.
Seriously how long is the table without leaves if it has any. Now if it fits in our tiny room how much is it? It's so lovely.

  22. oh man this post has me putting on my shoes and going to the thrift to find the most beat up piece of furninture and seeing what i can do with it! you rock!!

  23. Out with the old in in with the new! Can't wait to see you redo the new table.
The copy of the magazine would be cool for the new owner.
    Have a pretty day!
    Kristin

  24. You're funny, sounds like me! Good for you, and have a good sale! I know you've talked about it before, but I can't find it. Can you tell me about your bamboo rug beneath your dining set?

    Thanks so much,
    Sheila

  25. Love that table and chairs! I wish I could come buy them from you! Love your last line of the paragraph. "A girl can't do it all!" It's true, but we do our best and we keep on going. You are so impressive, thanks for all your inspiration!

  26. Wow you are busy!
Love the set you sell but also see the new set in your wonderful dining room already… 🙂
    Amazing work you're doing!

  27. Oh, the person who snaffles that set up is one lucky chap! What a dreamy combination. Good luck with the new one. I am sure you will make it look as or even more beautiful. Jacqueline xx

  28. So why again can't you just keep the old table and the new chairs and sell the new table with the old chairs? They seem like they would still look like sets that belong together, and even if they are a bit mismatched, that is kind of hip. 😉 Might as well keep your favorite things from each. The leftover set would still look fabulous to sell at Lucketts! 🙂

  29. I have two chairs I picked off the street I used annie sloan paint now they need a wood chair seat and cushion do you make these and sell them
