I am finally nearing the end of my painting project(s). I should be painting now, but I’ve totally overdosed on painting the past few days and I just couldn’t muster the strength to do it again tonight.
Here’s a peek at the cabinets…
(Just ignore the cords, please.)
Love them! I can’t wait to get the doors back on and the hardware installed. I’ve also been playing around with the accessories in my family room and I am so ready to sew eight curtain panels and reupholster my French day bed to get these rooms done! Sigh…all in good time.
I made a video today sharing some tips on painting kitchen cabinets. It’s uploading now and I will post it tomorrow.
Until then, here is the winner of the Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint giveaway…
Jan Bush-Wood from Lucy’s Baby!
Congratulations, girl!
I have another great paint giveaway lined up for next Friday. It’s another one of my favorite products and one that I have not shared about on my blog, yet. You will not want to miss it!
One last thing…thanks to everyone who stormed their local TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall’s today to look for my illusive Ralph Lauren pillows. No one has found them, yet, so please keep looking. Thanks ladies, you’re the best!
**Pillow update: Jennifer has secured three and Marcy is on her way to buy two she found yesterday, so I think I’m set. Call off the search!

Hello Marion, and here you are taking the time out to do a tutorial for us too? What a girl you are! I can certainly use the tutorial as I am "fixin" to paint my cabinets too.
I called two TJ Maxx stores here in the area and there is a third as well I can call tomorrow, no luck yet, but she also said to call the Marshall's stores too. So I will try again tomorrow.
Congrats to Lucy! What a cute blog she has !!

I'm loving those cabinets! It's a very sweet difference from before.
I'm headed to tj's in Paducah, ky today. I'll look for you. I can't wait to see your kitchen!!! Oh and by the way my dresser has powder beetles not termites. Not much better…looks like "Cindy" is going buh-bye
HELP! WAX QUESTION: So, I headed over to Lady Butterbug's site to take the plunge and buy some chalk paint and wax for my very first furniture project. I noticed she's selling an Annie Sloan brand wax (http://www.ladybutterbug.com/#!waxes-and-brushes), and not Hannants. I am hoping to get started on this project asap, which wax should I get? Any advice is appreciated! – Christine
I can't believe the way you keep going! I can tell those cabinets are going to be amazing – can't wait to see it all done.
I looked at two TJMax's yesterday but will try another one today ~
I love your cabinets so far!
I fear I may to be late with this tip but just in case.
Did you see the latest issue of This Old House Magazine? – they have an great idea for painting cabinet doors.
Screw four, same size, pieces of scrap wood to each corner of the door. You can then paint one side and flip it over and paint the other without having to wait for it to dry. And best of all you can then stack them to dry. Genius!
I thought of you and your kitchen project the minute I saw it.
the pillows are not in our local store – have you tried Ralph Lauren stores/outlets?
Dearest Mirian,
I can't believe I won!!!!
I AM SOooooo EXCITED!
Smile, doin my happy dance!
I have been wanting to try Chalk Paint,
was on Lady Butterbug's site and ordered a color chart, and Anne's book.
I paint furniture,
and have a space in my local Antique shop,
I am so excited to receive this most fantastic Prize.
You can be sure I will post about Chalk Paint, on Lucysbaby.blogspot.com
and take photos as I go.
Giving Thanks today, for you Mirian,
Thank you for hosting
such a FANTASTIC give away.
XOXO
Jan
I can't wait to see the cabinets when you're done. Just the thought of tackling the bf's '70's cabinets has me almost in tears, but it'll all be gorgeous when it's done.

Good to hear the pillows have been located. I searched 3 stores in north Dallas/Frisco area of Texas and only found 3 of the pillows in a pretty brown, no green so I'm happy your bloggers found them.
Have a great day!!
Christine – Annie's wax is Hannant's wax privately labeled. We also want to thank everyone for entering the giveaway and to Marian "Miss Mustard Seed' for being such a gracious hostess!! Congrats Jan!!
I can't wait to see your video of painting your cabinets. I have been dying to do that, but I look at them and feel so overwelmed.
Susan
I'm glad someone located the pillows for you. I checked my TJ Max this morning and there weren't any.
Congrats to the chalk paint winner!
Shaunie
Totally jealous of Jan!
Are you going to put all the doors back on? I LOVE me some open cabinetry !
I was playing catch up on the last two postings!! I love how you created a search party for those pillows, We had them in Calif at our marshalls, they went on clearance for $12.99
I bought the blue ones clearanced for the lumbar feather inserc for another pillow, I so wish I had read this sooner they had tons of the apple green in the 22×22 and the long lumbar I would have snagged them up for you 🙂
Perhaps next time I can help out!
Cheers to you and your blog.

You are an incredibly talented artist, I wish I could be so. The cabinets look beautiful! Congrats to Jann Bush-Wood!! now I need to find where this amazing chalk paint in my area.
I am getting ready to paint my kitchen cabinets and suddenly considered using chalk or milk paint and wax. Would that work and what kind of prep and/or finishing work would I need to do so that they look great?
