I spent several hours yesterday on getting all of the original art and used art supplies listed for the sale on Thursday! It is a big project that I was happy to check off my list. But, I’m happy to share that I have a nice mix of paintings and supplies that will be included in this sale.
A few things… First of all, I have upgraded my server, so the site won’t be crashing while you’re trying to check out. I know that was so frustrating for those who were trying to shop the sale last time, but I’ve had many sales on my site and have never had that happen! We’re are ready for it this time, though. Second, items do tend to go quickly, so I wanted to share a preview of what’s available in the hopes that shoppers can make a beeline for what they want and not miss out.
Here are the original art pieces…
8 x 10 & 9 x 12 original oils/water-mixable oils

9 x 12 original oil on canvas panel – $180

(This one photographed a little more gray than it is in person.) 8 x 10 original oil on oil primed linen panel – $160

8 x 10 original water-mixable oil on canvas panel – $140
5 x 7 original oils on Arches oil paper – $45
Van Gogh Studies…

Landscapes…

Seascapes…

4 x 6 original oils on Arches oil paper – $35
Monet cloud studies…

landscapes…

seascapes…

Original oil mini sketches on Arches oil paper (2 x 5) – $15

Original watercolors & gouache on watercolor paper (5 x 7) – $45

Original Acrylics on Acrylic Paper (5 x 7)- $45

I may be able to add in a few more paintings if they are dry in time for the sale. If not, though, I’m going to try to average about one sale each month, so there will be more works coming. I’m also accepting more commissions so that people who missed out on a specific painting in a sale can get what they want. I have a bit of a backlog at the moment, but I’ll be accepting more soon.
And, now to the art supplies! First of all, with just a few exceptions, these are all used art supplies, so just be aware of that! I am only selling things that are in good, useable condition, though. These are all colors, mediums, and supplies that were purged when I did a thorough cleaning-out of my studio. They are still great supplies, but ones I am not likely to use, so I am selling them to someone who will use them.
All of the prices include shipping and, for that reason, I can only ship the art supplies to the US. (The paintings can be shipped to Canada and Europe!) I could charge international shipping, but that would really negate the great prices. This is also the reason I put supplies in larger lots. It makes shipping easier and more efficient than selling each thing on its own. I put lots together thoughtfully, though, so they will be good for art students, people who want to bulk up their own supplies, or for people who want to get into specific mediums.
Here’s what will be in the sale…
Original Oil Color Chart Lot on 9 x 12 canvas panels + canvas panel lot – $60
This is a lot of 14 hand-painting oil color charts on 9 x 12 canvas panels. It also includes ten blank 9 x 12 canvas panels and five 8 x 10 panels.
I am selling these color charts so that I can make new ones on oil paper to store in a binder. It’ll be a bit of a space-saver and I’m honestly looking forward to making more color charts, wheels, and studies based on the colors I use most.

Vintage Child’s Watercolor Paint Box – $25
I bought this intending to turn it into a little travel palette, but it’s really too delicate to use for that purpose. It’s also smaller than I expected (3 1/2″ x 6″), so it’s really best as a decorative piece.

Watercolor & Palette Lots
I had a ton of watercolor tubes and palettes to sell, so I put together three lots. Each lot includes a well-rounded palette of blues, greens, yellows, reds, and neutrals. All of the watercolors are either Daniel Smith or Windsor & Newton and they are all professional/artist quality. Some tubes are brand new and others are used.
Lot #1 – $50
This is a “Plein Air set”, which includes a collapsible water cup, a Plein Air palette (it has a little thumb hole and it folds), and 14 tubes of paint.

Lot #2 – $65
This set includes one of my early palettes. It has a locking lid, mixing tray, color chart, and most of the wells are filled with professional watercolors.

18 tubes of watercolor paint are also included…

Lot #3 – $65

This lot includes another one of my early palettes (with locking lid, mixing tray, and 18 filled wells), 19 tubes of professional watercolors, two W&N watercolor markers.

Custom professional artist quality watercolor palette set in vintage tin – $60
This is my favorite thing that I’m selling, but I have other vintage palettes that I use more. One only *needs* so many! This is a vintage watercolor tin with 22 1/2 pans filled with professional watercolors. This is a used palette, but the colors have been topped off recently. It also comes with a custom color card and ceramic petal palette.

Gouache lot – $45
This is a lot of 17 tubes of professional gouache and acrylic gouache. Some tubes are brand new.

Acrylic lot – $50
This lot includes 18 tubes of artist-grade acrylics. Some tubes are brand new.

Oil lot – $75
This is a lot of 29 tubes of professional-quality oil paints. Some tubes are brand new and some are used. Brands include Gamblin, W&N, Utrecht, Vasari, Michael Harding, and Old Holland.

Tombow Dual Brush Pens Art Markers – $45
You can see the full details of the 96-marker set HERE. These are in like-new condition. Only a couple were tested and the rest have been unused.

Caran d’ache Neocolor ii Aquarelle watercolor crayon set – $40
This is an incomplete set of Neocolor ii Aquarelle watercolor crayons. I kept the colors I use the most. Some colors are duplicates and a couple of them are broken. You can find more details on this set HERE.

Wax Brush Lot – $50
As you can imagine, I had a ton of brushes for painting and finishing furniture, including more wax brushes than one human could use! I am selling a lot of 8 wax brushes. Two are used and six are in like-new condition.

This is a vintage wax/stencil brush that didn’t make it into the first photo, but it’s included in the lot.

Pencil & Charcoal Lot – $20
This is a lot of five brand new pencil sets. They include a tin of Cretacolor charcoal pencils, sticks, and a vine, Cretacolor leadless wood pencil Monolith set, Derwent Artist Coloursoft portrait pencil set, Derwent Artist colored pencil set, and a Conté à Paris set.

And, that’s it! I hope you find some goodies that might be a nice addition to your studio!
The sale will go live HERE on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 7:00 PM CST. Right now, you can only see what is sold, but once the paintings and supplies post, you’ll see new categories appear (art supplies, oils, watercolors, acrylics, landscapes, seascapes, animals, and abstract.)
Let me know if you have any questions!

If I can’t how do I get a commissioned one? Its beauticul
Laurie, I’m sorry, but I can’t sell it ahead of the sale. I can do a commission painting, though, or I do have a few more cow portraits in the hopper right now. You can send me an e-mail – marian@missmustardseed.com
How do you purchase? I see a few that I’d ilke to get. Will you be posting a link tomorrow or Thursday?
There is a link at the bottom of the post or you can get there through the NAV bar under “Shop Artwork.” I’ll share the link again, though, before Thursday.
Cow picture please. My house was built 27 years ago in a field that used to be part of a dairy farm, so it would be perfect framed in a place of honor. If not, like Laurie, above, how could I get one commissioned?
Sorry, but I can’t hold the paintings ahead of time. I will be painting more cow portraits and you can request a commission.
Once I put an item in my cart will it remain there until I check out? I do plan on checking out immediately but I am just curious as my internet service is not the most reliable.
Thank you!! I love everything!!
Unfortunately, items in your cart are not saved for you, since multiple people might have the same item in their cart. Since it’s free shipping, it’s best to buy one thing and circle back if you want to try to pick up more. If you end up having something swiped from your cart, just send me an e-mail and we can work out a commission. I did that for people who lost out on the last sale.
I cannot even believe that for an entire year of doing nothing I actually have something to do – literally first time in a year practically – on the EXACT date and time as this auction. I am in a state of shock, haha.
Someone please shoot me now.
There is an original I want so very much. I’d buy it right now – as many of you are saying.
You are a wonderful artist, Marian.
Michelle, Just send me an e-mail and we can work out a commission of a similar painting to the one you like. 🙂 marian@missmusardseed.com
Thank you for taking questions. The last art sale was an immediate sell out ( the website wouldn’t load at first then….I couldn’t get anything to load in the cart…then it was all sold…like within the first 20 min…it was challenging) but I seem to remember that there was a pre-register for acct info? May I do that this time? The paintings last time were in a $35-$65 range (I think) will that be the case this time? Again, thank you
Update…I see the prices now, sorry for not noticing before I asked the question. ?
Thanks so much
Please let me know of whats in your hopper.
Or about commissioning one for me.
I am just so excited about possibly being able to get one.
Yep! I have two cow portraits in the works. I am hoping to finish at least one up this week.
Hi Marian,
Your paintings are just so beautiful. Thank you for putting them out into the world.
You mentioned that you are able to ship to Canada and Europe. How about Australia?
I’m not sure if mailing costs would be similar to Europe – probably not, we are really far away! But I thought I would check.
Thanks.
I wasn’t able to add Australia as a shipping zone, but I’m having my assistant look into it, so we’ll hopefully have it added for the sale!
How do I purchase at the time of the sale? Do I have to be registered? How do I pre-register?
I love your work!
What time today CST does you sale start?
It’s at 7:00 pm CST
Will you be selling pastels. Sets , boxes or singles?
So, I must be the most tech challenged person on here. How exactly do I access the painting I would like to purchase? When they are not currently listed In The shop? Thankx
Perhaps I’m just blind but I keep adding to my cart but there is no cart icon…..I only see orders and they are not there when I go???
Perhaps for the next sale you can tell me where the cart is? Thanks
Have you sold the paint pens? I can’t see hiw to make a purchase.
Love the art. Would love to buy the brushes
