Isle of Palms art sale preview

I was planning on having this art sale back in June and I was planning on adding a lot more paintings to it, but…  I had too many other things to work on.  For those who ask how I balance it all?  Well, sometimes things don’t get finished the way I want them to or when I want them to.  But, I didn’t want to put off this art sale any longer, so I finally added it to the calendar!  The art sale will go live this Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 10:00 am CST.  You can shop the sale HERE or by selecting “original art” under the “shop” tab on the navbar.

There is a bit of a creative clearing that happens for me when I sell the paintings collecting in my studio.  There is both a release and a press of the reset button that signals to me it’s time to fill up the drying shelves again with new paintings, so I had better get back to the easel!

I actually have been doing a lot of painting, but I’ve primarily been painting commissions for private and commercial clients and practicing to increase my skills in my sketchbooks.  I am really feeling my oil paints beckoning, though, and I’m excited about working on another series.

Most of the paintings in this next art sale were painted while I was visiting Isle of Palms and Charleston, SC, but I also painted a few when I got back.  (You can read more about that trip HERE.)

This first painting is one that I painted when I got back because I was itching to paint a great sailboat and I never not a good picture of one while at the beach.

I had such a fun time gathering inspiration on my trip and I still have so many more pictures to paint!  I hope I’ll have some time to do that one of these days…

The sale will go live HERE at 10:00 am CST on Thursday, July 29, 2021.  We’ve had some technical kinks during our sales in the past, but I think everything is all ironed out now!  I am hoping so!  Let me know if you have any questions before the sale…

  1. Oh how exciting! My birthday is Friday and I’d be thrilled to purchase something. I tried with another sale but wasn’t able to because of computer/technical issues. I love your art and have really enjoyed your tutorials!

  2. I’m familiar with a lot of artists, having been an art teacher, but you always surprise me with a “new” find! Is there a book you recommend on Jongkind?
    Your paintings are lovely!

    1. I had never heard of him, either! That’s become one of my favorite things when I’m reading books is finding new-to-me artists who aren’t as well known. I found his work in a book called Impressionists by the Sea. I took it with me on my beach trip for obvious reasons!

  3. Your work is wonderful. I am so thrilled with the print I purchased from Society6 of your painting of the schooner.
I hope to buy one of your oil paintings someday.

  4. Are you going to put any prints of the Charleston Study on Society6? I would a copy, but can’t afford a painting.

  5. These are so beautiful! My daughter used to live in Mt. Pleasant and went to the Isle of Palms all the time. She took annual photos of her children in front of the dunes and sea oats. I’m thinking I might try for Charleston house or a study of the dunes. I love the last little one that you threw in!

  6. These are so lovely. I bought your ship from Society 6 recently and it arrived in Australia within a week of ordering. I was so thrilled. My teenager bought it for my birthday and I love how we’ve it styled on a bookshelf. Im also very grateful for your honesty in your art journey and I am now becoming braver and more consistent with my art thanks to your encouragement:-))

  7. I am just imagining this art in front of my bedroom. I relate from the same field but this art attracts me more looking straight to purchase this beauty.
