Haven Conference Updates

If you’ve been hanging around the DIY blog world for a few months, you may have heard whispers about the Haven Conference.  Well, it’s true.  We’re having our very own conference…just for DIY/Home bloggers and readers.  It’s going to be an amazing event and I wanted to give you an update on some of the things we’ve lined up.

First of all, we have some amazing sponsors who have signed on, including…
That’s right.  The Home DepotMinWax, Rustoleum and, one of my sponsors, Royal Design Studio, have also joined in on this event.  We have others who are working out the details and will be signing on soon, so this is going to be big.
We have also brought on our keynote speakers, John and Sherri from Young House Love!  (I can’t wait to meet them and see what kind of wisdom they have to share.)
The courses we’re offering are shaping up nicely as well.  Here’s a preview of what will be on the schedule…

  • Pimp Your Photos: Photo Editing and Styling
  • Laminate, Wood, and MDF, OH MY: Furniture Painting Tips for Beginners

  1. I have just discovered the world of blogging. And at first I thought YES I want to have a blog.I love to decorate and I would love to share my passion. But after reading your blog and others I have decided not too.I really don't think I have the talent of writing or photography that you all do.And now there is a seminar.More for me to be intimidated.I will continue reading because I have learned so much. But I just don't think I have what it takes 🙁
Your blog is amazing I always look forward to see what your next projects are. Thanks for sharing.

  2. OMG, Kitty that makes me feel bad reading your comment. You know, every blog isn't the same. First you must know that blogging is fun and it is meant for yourself fist then for others to read. EVERYONE starts small in the begininnig and as you learn the ropes (get the hang of it), then your blog will blossom! My blog isn't the biggest or the most popular of blogs, but I still love it. And as far as blog conferences, I've had my fair share of them too. Let me tell you, Haven will NOT be the type of conference that will make you feel intimidated. I've met many of the ladies that are a part of it and let me tell you, they are FABULOUS! Think of it as hanging out and learning something from it:)

If you really want to start a blog, do it! If I compared myself and my blog to the larger ones, I would have thrown in the towel years ago;)

Sorry Marian for leaving a comment for your reader. PS, I can't purchase my ticket until later in the year and I hope there are a few left by then! I would REALLY like to meet you!

  3. I live in Atlanta and I just got back from Bloggy Boot Camp this weekend. I spent the rest of the weekend driving my husband batty about how amazing it was. He knows how much I love your site and he visits it occasionally. He sent me an email this morning with a link to your post, along with an attachment for a ticket to Haven!! I couldn't believe he did that! I have been crying my eyes out that I get to meet all of you amazing ladies (Sounds stalkerish I know). Thanks to you (and my hubby) I am so excited!!!!

  4. I don't have a blog, but your conference makes me want to drop everything and join you. The names of the workshops leave me well informed and giggling! Very well done!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Great lineup!! And Kitty, everyone starts somewhere with small steps…I hope you don't stay discouraged! Everyone has their own special talents and perspectives that others can benefit from! Janell

  6. The list of Haven girls and workshops was enough for my to click the Haven link for more information. Even while clicking the link I was thinking, "Oh I don't know…I'm not exactly a DIY blogger" (I'm a little bit of a lot of things type blogger) but the cost is reasonable and *GASP!* it's in Atlanta?! and I don't even need to travel – well, sign me up! Looking forward to it, Marion 🙂

  7. OMG! Just made my hotel reservation. The only sad thing is that there are no Braves home games that week to send my hubby to. Maybe that means I will get the room and trip by myself??? Ahhhh. That would be a nice treat (not that I don't luv my hubby!). I….CANNOT…….WAIT!!

Also – @Kitty – Some of us new bloggers feel that same way – like maybe I don't have enough to say. I have had some family issues and haven't blogged in a month and know that I must do it soon, but you do as much as you can when you can. If you have good content you will find that people will come to you to read more. I work full time and can only post sporadically because my projects take me a while to finish. We cannot all be as talented and as much of a workhorse as Miss Mustard Seed! 😉 Remember, Google has a "Remove Blog" button that you can always use, but I have a feeling that if you give yourself a month or two of blogging you will not find the need to use it!

    Best wishes,

    Jenny

  8. The lineup sounds absolutely amazing! I am almost positive I'll be attending and I can't wait! It'll be my first blogging conference, so I'm both nervous and excited!! xo

  9. Kitty, I feel the same way in many respects. However, I think it's okay if everybody doesn't blog! (It can turn out to be a big time commitment.) We can be "just readers" together! 🙂

P.S. If you don't want to keep up a blog full time, you could always just open one to show a project or two when Miss Mustard Seed does Furniture Fridays, or on some of the other blogs out there when they have sharing days.

  10. This sounds so exciting and amazing!! I would love to join but being on the west coast it doesn't fit my DIY budget.

Is there anyway that the sessions could be webcast so folks in remote places could get in on the fun? I'd definitely by a ticket for a webcast I just can't afford the whole kit an kaboodle. 🙂

  11. Cool, can hardly wait! What can I do to help prepare on my end. Have you guys considered addressing the best ways to ship furniture or selling on Etsy? Also, how are the workshops going to work? I'm guessing some of them are going to be REALLY full. Will I need to wear my Nike's and some elbow pads so I can blast through all those young gals?

  12. Wish I could make it to that! I'd be there ALLLLL day! Will there be blog updates and quick tip highlights & webcasts for those of us that can't possibly make it? Sounds really exciting!
