French Upholstered Bed Frame Round-up

Any time I share a picture of our bedroom, I am asked about the bed frame.  I purchased it from Arhaus on final clearance, so I got an amazing price on it, but it is no longer available for purchase.  So, I thought I would share a French upholstered bed frame round-up for those who are in the market for something similar.  I really prefer to link just to products I own and have tested, so I can speak to their quality, but I tried to select beds from companies I’ve purchased from in the past and have had positive experiences.  Online reviews and good return policies could also help you buy a bed frame online with a bit more confidence.

So, if you’re shopping for a French upholstered bed frame, here are a few options at different price points…

Ashdale Patina French Upholstered Bed Frame

I like the simple curves of this bed frame and it has pretty turned legs as a bonus.  The headboard looks high enough to give the bed visual presence and to be comfortable for sitting up in bed to read.  (That is one of the advantages of having an upholstered headboard!)

Toulouse French Upholstered Bed Frame from Pottery Barn

This bed frame is definitely more masculine, but the look can be adjusted by the bedding selection, accessories, and wall treatment.  It’s a nice option if you want a French-style bed, but your partner/spouse doesn’t want anything too curvy.

Watson French Upholstered Bed Frame

I think this particular bed would be a good option if your room is on the smaller side.  The footboard is a little lower, so it won’t insert itself visually into the middle of the room.  I also like the white frame and neutral upholstery.  It can go very feminine or feel a bit more neutral depending on the bedding.

Louis XVI French Upholstered Bed

This is a vintage bed frame, which is a great option as long as it will accommodate your mattress.  I love the carved details, nail head trim, and subtle patina on the wood frame.

Vintage French Upholstered Bed Frame

This is another used bed, although it’s not as old.  I would probably swap out the upholstery on this one, but the shape of the bed frame is nice.  Frenchy, but not too frilly.

Barrett Solid Wood French Bed Frame

This one isn’t upholstered, but it has a pretty shape and it’s under $400.  It definitely gives off the right vibe.  I like the shape of the headboard and the panel inserts.  I also love the little curved detail at the bottom of the footboard.

Shantel French Cane Bed Frame

Okay, this one isn’t upholstered either, but it has caning!  I think the winged headboard is definitely the star of this piece.  I would style this bed with all-white bedding, so it looks clean, classic, and the shape and materials of the bed can really shine.

I would also suggest checking out local online marketplaces like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace to see if there happens to be a bed frame available that is perfect for you.  I also like keeping an eye on eBay or Etsy for unique pieces that can be shipped or are available for local pick-up/delivery.  You can find more posts about furniture makeovers and some favorite finds HERE.

Wayfair has a great selection. I like the low footboard as I watch tv in bed.
