feels like home | preorder bonus one | original art download

Now that the release of Feels Like Home has been postponed (manufacturing & shipping delays are affecting so many industries including publishing), we are just over 10 weeks away from the launch date!  To make that time go a little faster (for me and for those who are anxiously awaiting its arrival), I have a fun countdown schedule planned!  It’s sort of be like opening advent windows as you countdown to Christmas.  This countdown will be filled with preorder bonuses, six amazing giveaway packages to thank my blog readers and social media followers for supporting this project, live online events, and a way for those who are super excited about the book to get involved in promoting it (and have even more opportunities to win amazing prizes.)  It’s all going to be so much fun.

So, let’s kick this off with a preorder bonus.  This is a freebie for those who have (or are going to) preorder the book.  It’s a high-resolution download of the original piece of art hanging over my fireplace!  This is an original painting and I have not released it on Society6 or with any commercial clients.  The only way you can get a print of this painting is to preorder Feels Like Home!

I am offering two versions of the download.  One is a high-resolution jpg that you can print at home (if you have a nice photo printer & paper) and one is a humungous TIF file that you can take to a professional printer to have it printed on canvas or quality paper in a size that’s perfect for your project.  (The original painting is 24 x 36″)  The beauty of the download is you can have it printed in any size that is right for your space.

Let’s back up a minute to the moment when I was staring down this huge blank canvas.  I had never painted a canvas this large.  Oddly enough, I have painted much larger pieces of furniture and even entire walls, but there is something about a canvas that feels intimidating to me.  It feels like I have to create something worthy of being labeled as “fine art.”  For some reason, this feels easier on a smaller scale!

But, I went to work on an underpainting and it started to come together.  The landscape is based on a picture I took as we were driving around Rochester, MN.  I sort of loved the underpainting, but I wasn’t ready to stop at that point for this particular painting.

I worked on it over a few days, carrying it into the living room and leaning it up on the mantel to make sure the colors were working well with the wall color and fabrics in the room.

I have loved having a piece of my own artwork in such a prominent place in our home.  I was very self-conscious about hanging my own paintings initially, but I’m embracing it more and more.  It really is one of the ultimate ways to customize your space.

I have my painting framed in a 24 x 36″ wood frame that I purchased on clearance and applied gold leaf to.  You can find a gold leafing tutorial HERE.

Marian, I am 70 years old and have never submitted a comment, pre-ordered a book or downloaded a file until today. I have followed you on Instagram and your blog for months now and felt the kindred spirit of an artist and home keeper. I am thrilled to pre-order your book (I have been dragging my feet for a while) and promise I will sit by my window and enjoy every page. I know how much of your heart went into writing it. Thank you for your daily inspiration and may God bless your every endeavor.

Thank you! I have a vintage frame from my late mother-in-law and have been looking for the right art piece to insert. This art download is perfect for the frame. It will take pride of place in my house. I look forward to reading your book and sharing it with my daughter, who will hopefully be a new homeowner soon.

Your painting is beautiful and reminds me of my home~ Minnesota. I love that you have it hanging in a prominent place in your home. It’s yours and it looks gorgeous over the mantel.

I ordered my book from Amazon in early July. I don’t have a “purchase code” on the email they sent nor do I have a “purchase code” on the order on Amazon. Is it the same as the order number???? I really want to get my bonus. I was admiring that painting of yours just the other day. Help!

      • Marian Parsons

Yes, it’s an order number! Just put that in and you’ll be good to go. Thank you!

Thank you so much for providing links to other booksellers. I so appreciate how you are willing to work with those of us who prefer alternative shopping. I cannot wait for the book, and am so excited about looking through all the bonus material.
Glad Esme is better too. Read today’s post. I love when kitty’s have wonky eyes. It’s the best. (But not when they’re sick.)

I preordered your book and have tried to set up a login for the past several days. It keeps saying the username and password are not correct. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    • Marian Parsons

I sent an e-mail to my assistant to help you get set up! Sorry about the difficulties.

Good Morning, Marian! I just pre-ordered your book and can hardly wait to receive it! After my purchase Amazon sent me a confirmation code. When I went to enter the code on your site, it doesn’t allow me to type on the form. I’m sure I’m making a simple mistake but I sure don’t want to miss out on your beautiful painting download. Thanks for all your time, effort and love that went into the book. I have a feeling I’ll be purchasing more for Christmas gifts!

Marian! I have been following you for years 😎! I get so much joy from creating, working with my hands 🙌. You inspire me to keep reaching out of my comfort zone to expand my horizons. I pre ordered your book back in August, waiting patiently! I would be over the moon to win this awesome give away!
    Be well, Teri
