Christmas Line 2010 Preview

I must pat myself on the back and say that I got an amazing amount of stuff done today.  I priced all of my ornaments, glittered two banners, put magnets on the back of about 30 letters, hand painted two banners, upholstered the French settee, painted four dining room chairs, repaired a small chest, made two mini sheet music wreath ornaments, fed my kids and changed diapers, organized toys, and played some X-Box.  Craziness.
I’ve had a lot of people ask me about my ornaments and Christmas decor, so I thought I would give everyone a preview.  My theme this year is sheet music and German glass glitter.  I designed and made every ornament and decoration you see, so I’ve been a busy girl.  My kitchen counter is covered with paper dust and hot glue strings and my entire house sparkles with glitter.  Such is my life.  Anyway, without further delay, here’s a peek…
I must say, I am in love with my sheet music “star” tree topper.  This was one of those projects that just happened.  The idea struck me, I ran with it, and it kind of created itself.
I have made dozens of mini sheet music wreath ornaments, which are the “signature” ornament of this year’s collection

I also played around with “eyelashing” and made some sheet music “pine cones.”  These are so quirky and fun, but a little labor intensive.

I made a ton of German glass glitter stars and snowflakes…

…and used the glitter to detail some hand painted papier mache ornaments.

Some German glass glitter letter banners add more sparkle and some horizontal visual interest to the tree.

So, there’s the sneak peek.  If you’re in the area and want to see it in person, Wild Rose will be fully decked out for Christmas starting Tuesday, Nov 2, and the Chartreuse preview party is Thursday, Nov 4 from 6-9 pm.  Check out my side bar and retailers page for more details.  My ornaments and banners are available for sale and shipping if anyone is interested!
On a personal note, my poor three-year-old is so confused.  I set up my tree last week for a photo shoot and he exclaimed with bright eyes, “It’s Christmas!”  How can I explain that it’s not and mommy just needs to take pictures.  So funny!

  1. LOVE the mini sheet music wreath ornaments! Your tree is beautiful. I have to ask, though…do you find that your glitter letters/ornaments tarnish? Like a lot? Anyway to bring them back?

  2. BEAUTIFUL!!!!! And, I was feeling so encouraged about my denim garland & ornaments…not anymore. lol! You have outdone yourself once again. So happy you chose your signature book page wreath for the ornament this year. I so wish these were in the shop already. I'd surely gobble them up on Sunday.

  3. All of the ornaments look so good together! That's a tough one about explaining that it's not Christmas. My son saw some orange Halloween lights and got so excited because he thought they were Christmas lights.

  4. Oh my word… seriously awesome! I just love the mini sheet music wreaths but those banners add KAPOW!

You'd better have a good rest tonite. You're going to be VERY busy because you'll be sold out of all these 2010 must haves very shortly!

You are quite the trend setter, MMS. 🙂 I applaud you!

  5. OHhhhkay now your just showing off!!! lol You are truly amazing I wish I had your energy. I love the look of the tree looks sooo good. I started making ornaments today too, out of old books. I hope they look as awesome as yours when I'm finished.

  6. Holy Sha-Moly! Those are amazing! I have been toying with the idea of changing my tree topper this year and I absolutely love yours that you created!!! Did you use a styrafoam ball as the base or what? I am staring at it trying to figure it out! -Kelsee

  7. The tree looks fabulous!! Love the music sheet ornies and topper. And the glitter sayings really add to the tree.
I don't know how you get all that stuff done but congrats!!

  8. Oh LOVE the tree topper!! Have you made tons of these ornaments already or are you going to take orders from the store? Wish I could see it in person!

  9. I am totally in awe! What a beautiful tree! I have been racking my brain to try to figure out what I would be doing for my new tree in the living room…I am sooooo copying this one. Where do you purchase your glitter from? Thanks for sharing all your inspiring ideas!!!

  10. So basically the way this is going to work is that I am going to have to order some German glass glitter. TODAY.
Also, I have played around with the sheet music Christmas ornaments myself, and I just was not at all pleased with the way they turned out. After looking at yours, I'm wondering if I tried to make mine too small. What is the diameter on your wreaths? I'm assuming you have to cut your paper down to size to make miniature versions?

  11. Oh my gosh, I love those ornaments. I'm definately going to consider buying some! Beautiful!
On an interesting side note, we have a main comp, and a mini net book. I usually use my net book, which I have been 'voting' from, but this am I used the desk top and it allowed me to vote again, before 24 hrs are up, even though it would have the same IP address?? Anyhow, now I can place two little ole votes for your bathroom per day lol.

  12. I LOVE the tree!! I reupholstered my dining room set with burlap & made a table runner from upholstery webbing. Didn't know how I was going to decorate for Christmas until now!!

  13. I'd like to bottle your energy! You are amazing! The tree is gorgeous! I'd like the whole tree! I love the theme of the sheet music and the German glass glitter. It's elegant!

  14. Ack!! I've got to get some ornaments made!!! Like now, before its too late! Everything you made turned out beautifully!! Love the sheet music ornaments and all the glitter

  15. LOVE The TREE- of course I donated an entire BOX of vintage sheet music to Salvation Army because I was NEVER going to actually use it… I wonder if they'd sell it back to me?!!

  16. Wow…. not sure what else to say. I have to show them off on my blog if you want to check them out.
