Apron Strings & a Fog Horn

First of all, thank you so very much for all of the amazing ideas for color names. I was blown away with the creativity, thoughtfulness and just how many of you pay attention to the things that are important to me. It was touching.  I wish I could express it in a more articulate way, but the words are getting muddled.  So, anyway, thank you.

The color name I decided on was…

Apron Strings

…in honor of Diane’s grandmother’s “company apron.”  There were so many names I loved, but this one fit so well with the rest of the names in my line and those two words immediately evoke a feeling or memory.  Neither of my grandma’s had aprons this color or even wore aprons, but I can imagine a grandmother mixing some biscuit dough or crimping a pie crust with beautiful coral apron strings hanging down the back of her skirt.  It says, “vintage”, “homey”, “feminine”…all things that fit this color perfectly.

I have my other new colors named for now, but if I need help naming a color again (and maybe even if I don’t), I know who to ask for help.

The three newest colors (Apron Strings, Trophy and Curio) should be available in October.  Fingers crossed!

Now, to the “What is it?” contest. The very first person to guess, Tammy (Tammyt145), was right!  It’s a fog horn.

The reed needs to be replaced, so it doesn’t make the sound, but it’s otherwise in great shape.  It would be awesome to hear how it sounds with the reed in.  Maybe I’ll look into that some day.  Thanks for playing along with the guessing game.

I take a hybrid approach when it comes to running my life and organizing my thoughts.  I like paper, pencils, and pens for writing down ideas, planning, and managing my day.  While old-fashioned notebooks are my preference for most things, I rely heavily on a digital calendar and reminder alarms
