This post is totally off-topic, but I thought I would give you a peek into my life as a youth pastor’s wife.
Every year, for a week in late June or early July, a middle-of-nowhere farm in Pennsylvania becomes a tent city of tens of thousands. They are all gathered for one purpose: to celebrate the Creator of the world through music, speakers, and fellowship. (And you can buy a killer “cheesecake on a stick.”) Just to keep it from being boring, my husband is camping with 14 teenagers and I am staying in a hotel room with two toddlers. It’s going to be a crazy few days.
Here’s the video for those who aren’t familiar with the band and song.

The other night, I was tucking him into bed and gave him a kiss goodnight.
“Mommy?”
“Yeah, bud?”
“Would you sing me a song?”
“Sure. What would you like me to sing?”
“The Monster Song.”
Ha! My son doesn’t want “Twinkle, Twinkle” or “Jesus Loves Me.” He clearly spends too much time with teenagers.
I have wireless internet (and a beautiful view) at my hotel and some posts prepared, so there will still be new posts going up daily. I am going to suspend FFF this week, though, since I won’t be able to spend the necessary time on it. It will resume next week when things are back to normal.

"Sing me the monster song." HAHA, too cute : ) I was thinking about going to Creation one of these years and still haven't made it out to one. I really should try to next year! I'm sure it would be a blast.
Have a great week, MMS : )
Love, Laura
Good for you, sugar! The world certainly needs for spirituality at this moment. Have a great time, chick, especially with 2 little munchkins…
xoxo,
Connie
Oh, I KNEW I liked you!!! 🙂 We have Creation Fest here in the Northwest, and it is pretty much the same thing. I haven't gone since we were on youth staff at our church, but it is chock full of great bands! I love Skillet, Kutless (which is from my hometown!) Pillar… Hope you have a ton of fun. Keep us posted!
All I can say is WOW!!! You are going to have an amazing weekend. I love Frencesca Battistelli and Kari Jobe. I see where Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Newsboys, 10th Avenue North, Casting Crowns and Switchfoot will be there too. What a line-up!!! You will be on praise and worship music overload!!!! And I love to hear Louie Giglio speak. I have had the pleasure of meeting Louie and Chris Tomlin in person. Awesome guys!!! Have a great time. Wish I was there with you. Sounds like a great weekend. Love & blessings from NC!
He wanted you to sing Skillet? Ha ha! Oh my. My brother loves Skillet so I'm quite familiar with their sound.
Well enjoy your Creation weekend!
I think Andrea a few comments up and I must live in the same general area because I know it as Creation Fest also.
I don't know a thing about Contemporary Christian bands. I'm a rebel….I'm a really granny when it comes to Christian music (hymns, old time Gospel and campfire songs are my cup of tea)….but it sure sounds like you are having a blessed week!

That's so awesome, you should try to keep him up for the concert, he would love it! We are heading down with a group to Creation Northwest in about 3 weeks, can't wait!
A "really granny?" Hmmm…a really tired granny, that's for sure! : )
Sounds like a whole lotta fun to me! Enjoy. 🙂

Have a wonderful time!!! Loved the song! And I think it is pretty cool that your toddler loves it too! Bet he really rocks out!?!
Enjoy

Thanks for all you and your hubby do for teenagers. This is a critical time in their lives and you are serving well! Linda
Our teens do need to know they are loved and respected for who they are! My hat is off to you and your husband as this is more than a full time job. It is definitely a calling!
my Jamie is there! She is interviewing the performers for the site she works for. Last year she actually did announcements on the big stage (jumbotron) but this year she is strictly there to gain content for her site.
If you don't know the site it is hearitfirst.com
awesome site! lots of free music, and giveaways!
I'm hoping ya'll have great weather!
have fun!

Would love to be there! The closest festival to us is in Illinois – Cornerstone Festival. Actually my son's former bandmates are in a band which are performing there. All the more reason to buy that vintage Airstream!
That's so funny! Your little bloke is a classic…
You just brought back so many memories for me… We have a 'Hillsong' week here, sounds like the equivalent of yours, and a few years back, our best mate was a youth pastor, and Hubby and I were voluntary leaders, we have done the camping out with teens and all the fun that goes with it! Enjoy it, and practice your monster song!
Flick 🙂
My husband is a youth pastor as well and has taken groups to Creation in the NorthWest for 10 years! What a great thing to have in common. Blessings to you guys and your ministry!
Have a fabulous time! What a great way to spend a week :0)
Oh, that brings back memories! My family started going to Creation back when I was about 12 years old…and went many, many times. I haven't gone since I have kids, but since my boys are TOTALLY in to all the bands there, I'm guessing it will be inevitable that we'll end up there again sometime in the future. I do so love the festival itself…it's just the heat (or rain, as we had one year) and the camping that I'm not too fond of.
And my boys LOVE the "Monster" song too!! 🙂
Special blessings on the the Spouses of Youth Pastors! That has to be the epitome of juggling your attention between caring for your children, supporting your husband, participating with the youth and taking care of yourself. You make it sound easy!
Today's youth need Men like your Husband to tell them of God's awesome love…Hope your whole family has a Great time.
You have 'normal'?
I am so jealous!
Cheesecake on a stick? Yum! I giggled at the thought of you singing "Monster" to your son. haha! Have a great time…

The conference looks like it will be awesome!
And funny about your son. My son jams out to Toby Mac, Newsboys and Cold play all the time. It has spurred a lot of talk about musical content and being cognizent about lyrics and messages behind the music.
And as for noise level… wheww…I actually had to mark on his CD player the highest his music could go… It has saved my ears and him from getting in trouble. Music is powerful and its great when kids develop a love for it.
i love creation fest in the northwest! so cool!
