A New Space

No, I’m not taking on a fourth retail space.  I’m not that crazy!  I did get to move into a new space yesterday, though.  There was a little bit of a shuffle at Wild Rose and I was put in the corner.  No, I wasn’t naughty.  No dunce cap was involved.  It was a good thing.  I got two full walls to put my furniture on.  I was really excited about the switch and it was fun for me to pull all of my things into my own little corner.
Once I did that, I realized I need some more things to hang on the wall and I need a small table or carpet for the middle.  It looks a little sparse, but now I know what I need.  (By the way, I used my new toy to take this picture.  I sucked it up and bought a wide angle lens.  I’ll share more about it later.)

I also need some more smalls to fill my pantry.  I’m looking into carrying some wholesale items, which is so against my nature, but there’s some cute stuff out there and it sells.

I found this scale while thrifting in North Carolina with Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl.  She actually found it and pointed it out to me.  The baby shoes are made by Jami from Freckled Laundry

I just found this spectacular sunburst mirror and was very tempted to keep it, but I didn’t have the perfect place for it right now, so it had to go to the shop.  That’s the rule.

I stopped by my favorite antique source yesterday to buy some benches for the wedding I’m designing in May.  I had just been there two days ago and I had a car full of kids and a husband, so I had no plans to shop.  I told the shop owner I was buying the benches and he asked if I had seen their new shutters.  He knows what I like.

These were the best shutters I had ever seen.  I bought seven of them!  There were a few left, but I may go back and buy them.  I need to think about it.  I’ll share them shortly, but just think Restoration Hardware, grey, chalky, cool hardware.  Awesome.

To wrap things up today…  Everyone else is saying thanks for their referrals and I love that gesture, so I thought I would do the same.  These were my top referring blogs for December.

  1. I do believe we have so many similarities in our style. I look at your "new space" and that's what I envision my new booth looking like. I just can't seem to get up enough money to fill up my space! Anyway, I got off topic. I just wanted to send out some bloggin' love and tell you I LOVE your style. You give me hope with each post! I dream of having the same opportunities as you. I'm not giving up! Thank you for being an inspiration!

  2. I love your new little corner! You definitely have a talent in putting things together.

I love all your blog posts and tutorials.

    Thanks!

P.S. the link for the blog in madrid doesn't work 🙁

  3. Someday I am determined to convince hubby we need to make a trip up your way. I so want to check out Wild Rose and Chartreuse, they sound amazing! You're space looks wonderful, I saw lots of things I would love to have. You also have a favorite of mine, those old Pyrex mixing bowls, I have 5 of them, in various sizes and I use them more than any other bowl. My Grandmother swears that Divinity is only good if it is made in one of those bowls. : ) I think I might agree with her.
    Congrats on your new space!

  4. Love the new space! I can't wait to see how you fill it up! How fun that you are designing a wedding! Girl, you are so talented! I would love too see some things for wedding if you get chances to blog about them.

    Happy New Year!

  5. Marian,

Your new corner is just beautiful! Have fun filling it with more finds.

And I would love to hear more about your wide-angle lens. I bought a new-to-me Canon Rebel XSi this past week and it's my first DSLR. I'm already itching to buy a macro lens and a wide-angle lens seems like another good lens to have for photographing rooms.

    Take care,
    Erin

  6. The new space is fantastic! So wish I was close enough to visit in person. Maybe I'll treat myself to a road trip this summer 🙂

  9. Congratulations on your new little corner. It looks beautiful! I'll be heading to Annapolis at the end of the month and hope to be able to visit Wild Rose again. Everything is so gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing my little shoes. May I borrow that photo! Ha! It's more lovely than anything I've taken. Can't wait to see the full she-bang of those shutter. You had me at gray and chalky.

  10. As usual, it looks beautiful! I wish I was closer and could partake in the store, but then again, you'd end up having to restock it faster =)

  11. Marian,
Rather than turning to wholesale items that aren't repurposed or made using vintage materials have you considered buying smaller items from people who make things that can accompany your style and look? Several years ago I sold my handmade appliqued wool pillows to a gal in California and it was a great for both of us. She got new shop items that people could not buy any place else and I had an outlet for my handmade creations. Unfortunately health problems caused her to close her shop.

All the best in the New Year!

  12. I am not into sunburst mirrors but I really like that one!! Its not too big and pointy! =) I like the birdhouse thing too!! Just don't know what I would do with it!

I can't believe people talked about you more than I did!

  13. I would empty a corner for you in our shop any day! I think I am in love with the pantry cupboard!!Now I feel guilty for taking a couple days off and wanna go rearrange too!!
    Happy New Year

  14. Congrats on the new space! I would LOVE to have the red 3. I'd also be very interested if you ever find a large "1" or "2". Are the cups/glasses/vases with the crowns on them small? Prices???

You are very encouraging to those that feel they're not quite ready to sew, paint, etc. I want to paint a table and have been hesitant to do so…your projects and experience give me the mojo to just do it! 🙂

Wishing you the happiest of new year's and tons of blessings.

  15. I do love the way you think and put things together! Aren't her baby shoes priceless? Well, I guess they do have to have a price on them after all. Love your new space!

  21. Hi Dear Marian, I'm sure you'll have this spot meeting your standards in no time! I just read the last few posts (I'm a bit behind) and want to say a huge congratulations to all of your successes in '10. I've been here every step of the way, but seeing them in one post is a bit mind boggling. I'm wishing you continued blessings in '11 :). Take good care and Hugs, Kim

    Happy 2011!!
