A Big Day

Today is a big day for me and my blog, but before I tell you why, I want to share what some of my blog friends are up to and how you can get involved in the fun.

There is an upcoming party event that will be taking place next month.  It is a Gorilla Glue Party event that is running in addition to their regular parties and will run Sept 9th through Sept 30th over at the The DIY Club

(I actually just used some Gorilla Glue today to turn vintage clip-on earrings into clip magnets.)

If you have not visited the DIY Club, you are missing out on great inspiration and a chance to win some killer prizes. The giveaway for August was worth over $500!

The theme of the upcoming GORILLA GLUE party is:

Something OLD
Something NEW
Grab the CREW (Yeah, get the family involved)
And the GORILLA GLUE

Head over to visit the blogs of the DIY Club girls and you can enter to win a Gorilla Glue gift box, which is full of products, and get additional details on this event.

Tatertots and Jello
Under the Table and Dreaming
It’s So Very Cheri
The DIY Show Off
504 Main
Whisper Wood Cottage

The DIY Club and this event is such a great example of why I love blogging.  It doesn’t matter what religion, race, age, political association, language, or background…we all love decorating and can come together on that common ground to inspire, support, and enjoy each other.  We’re pretty awesome.

This transitions nicely into why today is a big day for me.  It is the one year anniversary of my blog.  I started out with three followers and no clue, but I was addicted from day one.  I had to be instructed on link party etiquette, brush up on my HTML, and learn the ways of the blog world, but I caught on pretty quickly.  My three followers grew to 2276, with over 4500 subscribers through Feedburner, over 3500 through Google Reader, and over 774,500 hits.  I also became a part of the BlogHer publishing network and have turned this little blog into a vital part of my business.

Thanks so much to all of my followers, subscribers, and the readers who drop by on occasion, for making my blog what it is today.  I hope you have been inspired and instructed during your visits and have gained as much from me as I have all of your comments and e-mails.  It’s such a compliment that so many people are interested in my crazy ideas and thrifty style.

By coincidence, another big event is happening today.  My guest bedroom is being featured on The Lettered Cottage, which, if you weren’t aware, is one of the biggest blogs out there.  Layla put the call out for “before and after” pictures, so I submitted my guest room and she asked to feature it.  Duh!  Yes, please.  I love this room, so it’s a real honor to have it featured by a blog (and designer) I like so much.  They are also having a guest bedroom link party with this post, so make sure to visit!  Thanks, Layla and Kevin!

So, what’s next?  Well, there are a lot of changes going on behind the scenes in my one-woman-show-of-a-business and there are some pretty exciting things on the horizon.  I’ll be blogging all about it over the next few weeks and months.  I hope you’ll join me in this journey.

Here’s to another amazing year in the wonderful world of blogging!

  3. WOW, is all I can say about your blog. [if I could make the letters bigger, I would :)]
I loved the guest bedroom, and great minds think alike. I have plaster ceilings that were all cracked in my DR, so I used the same product to cover them! So easy and much cheaper than wood.
