And I wiped on some Minwax stain in dark walnut (my favorite.) One tip…always wear gloves when staining. Stain is really hard to wash out of the groves in your skin and your hands will look dirty for days if you don’t. Trust me. I then applied a coat of Minwax Wipe On Poly.
The wood just soaked up the stain and now it’s luster has returned.

Great job! I learned that lesson about wearing gloves the hard way. I was washing my hands for days trying to get them clean looking.

You're right, you don't always have to paint it. I have an old chair that I debated about painting for about a year and then decided it was beautiful the way it was. It's dark wood and the seat is very similar to yours. I love it!
