So, are you sick of seeing all of the things I’ve been working on to take to the Lucketts Fair? If so, you may want to stop reading my blog for a couple of weeks, because that’s all that’s happening around here, lately.
Anyway, I found this…trophy? Urn? Thingy with a bird on top? …at the jack pot yard sale last Saturday. It’s hard to say how much I paid for it, because I bought everything in one big heap. This is an aluminum piece and was in sad shape, but I love the lines of this piece, so I took a chance on it. A layer of silver leaf and some antiquing glaze gave it a new lease on life.
Isn’t this bird on the lid so sweet?
I also cleaned and painted this shutter in a “chippy” blue/grey and hung a moss wreath from upholstery webbing on it. All of these components were things I had hanging around the house and they seemed to work together.
Shhh…this wire cloche is not an antique. I don’t think the Lucketts Fair police are going to arrive in their golf carts, strip me of my apron, and ban me from the festivities, though. I bought this bird at Hobby Lobby a few months ago and it seemed to fit with my “look”, so I tagged it and it’s coming along.
I made a few of these nests to tuck into bowls and under cloches to give my booth a more “lived in” look, which is hard to do under a 10×10 tent in a field, but I’m gonna try!
This entire process has been…therapeutic for me. I’ve had some professional doors closed recently and I now feel like an entire wall of windows is flying open. I am watching my style come together with each piece I add to the pile. It’s like I’ve been given a creative adrenaline shot and I can hardly keep up with my ideas. I can’t wait to share all of these events and ideas with you when things settle down.
Please, please pray for sunny skies, large crowds, and customers who love my stuff and have to buy it. Those who have done these kind of shows before…you know the prayer.

I love the trophy thingy with the bird on top. Also have not seen that wire cloche at Hob Lob. I wonder if they still have them? Probably not.
All beautiful! Love the wire cloche…will have to look for one. When you get a chance I'd love to know how you made the little nests…adorable. I have several places I can think of that they would add a special touch too. I'm thinking is a small grapevine with the raffia, but could be wrong.
Here's to SUNNY skies!!
Sick of seeing all of your beautiful inspirational pieces, are you kidding me?? Not a chance, keep the ideas and posts coming! Thanks for sharing, sue
Will pray for beautiful, clear sunny skies for you.
I am sorry to hear that you have had some professional doors closed. Everything you have been posting for this Luckett's fair is all very one of a kind stuff…unique. I am loving living vicarously through you while you are this creative roll. You have been inspiring me to do things for my own home.
I believe your bird trophy is actually a sugar bowl, and the little doodads around the edge hold little spoons.
Good luck with your show-you've got great stuff, so if the weather cooperates, you'll be in clover!
Good luck with your show, i hope the weather is beautiful and the crowds are big!
Silver leafing aluminum … brilliant.
Boy I wish I could get to Luckett's Fair ….

I've done a show or two myself and wish you a fantastic event! Your goods are beautiful. Where exactly is Lucketts? Also, when you're doing your tutorials, after the fact, would you please include how you dressed up the bird trophy? What a great idea!
Best wishes to you. Do you feel the tide turning? I believe it has!
Sick of your stuff? Ha, ha, good one! I'm so glad you're infused with so much creativity. Whoever wanders into your booth will want to snap up everything :).
Fingers crossed, over here, for sunny skies and a wonderful day for you….and an empty vehicle on the way home at the end!
LOVE it all!
Is is possible to show some prices just to give me an idea of what things are selling for there?
Adrineline shot is a perfect way to describe it. I've been amazed at all the beautiful things you have brought together. Your style is so classy, yet homey and inviting. You are turning things out like a one woman factory and still taking time to share it with us. Nobody needs to tell you, but "GO GIRL!!".
I'll say a little prayer for you, but I honestly don't see how anyone could NOT love everything you've posted so far. If I was near and had the money, I'd take one of each!
Love that birdy thingy….smiles… and good luck!
Everything looks beautiful! Your style is for sure coming through your work. Sophisticated and elegant. I can't wait to see what doesn't sell at the show, so I can grab up some of these goodies! You are going to rock that show!
I really do love everything you do!!! Keep em coming!!! You give me ideas!!! Prayers for wonderful weather!
Know what is the coolest thing about 'your line'? They're all one of a kind pieces. So… if you want it, you'd better get it NOW. 🙂
Your Etsy will go crazy when you restock it!
Donna
Tired of it?? No way, keep it coming!!!
Man, I wish I was working again! Most of your stuff would never make it to Luckett's!
Beautiful, Marian.
Jami
I know that prayer well!!! May you sell out completely!!! And the weather be perfect!! Good luck!!
Your stuff is amazing…so don't worry!! It is all good!
Hugs

hello. The piece with the bird on top is a sugar bowl that holds spoons. I have one too. I actually have a picture of mine on my latest post (4th pic down). Good finds!

As usual, I love everything!
Oh, everything is so lovely and sweet and beautifully styled and photographed as always. I love the way you painted and dressed up your shutter. Doors seems to shut for good reasons in our lives. I know that I, for one, do not always understand the reason at the time, though! I will pray that God will bring a beautiful and sunny day for your sale at Luckett's!
Keep it coming I am all for seeing your creativeness!
You are so refreshing to visit every day!
Thank you, Teresa
pray you have a fabulous day in every respect. thanks for taking time in all your busy-ness to give us so many sneak peeks! can't wait to hear what you have going on behind the scenes.
We could look at your stuff all day long! If you don't sell everything at the sale, your blog fans will buy your things. I can't believe that You have had professional doors close. Their loss. You can write, you are articulate. You are imaginative, you have very high taste levels, your execution skills are top notch. I think you are on the right path and that a book is in your future. Your music sheet dresser, freckled laundry's faux Restoration Hardware zinc side table, and Elizabeth House's desk with the writing on the side are the iconic design blog pieces of the last several years. All the rest pales by comparison.
Don't keep any of your signs. You can make more, view each piece you make as advertising. Be sure to put your contact information on the back of each piece, so that people can order more things from you. Good Luck. Take lots of pictures of your booth. Ann
That trophy/urn is great! What a find. I have that same little Hobby Lobby bird cloche. It's one of those great things that I'd love to have several of because it looks good everywhere. Lisa~
I don't know how I could ever get sick of all your pretties!
I love the "look" that you have coming together and I hope you sell out at Lucketts!
I had to laugh when I got to your prayer request. Those of us who do this type of business always pray for those things before a show, don't we? I can so identify.
I'm sure your booth will be fabulous, no matter the size!
Blessings,

And just so you know, we are all officially spoiled and EXPECT a new post with knock your socks off projects whipped out by you. See whatcha gone and did now? 🙂
Donna
If I lived closer, I'd be there to support you, trust me! However there's a large piece of water separating us, ah yes the Atlantic! Can't wait to see photos of your booth and hear all about it!
That silver piece with the bird!!! I WANT that!! I am not sure where Luckett's is, but I fear it is a long way from me!
You will do awesome…of this I am sure!
Keep showing us stuff!
Lou Cinda 🙂
Already said the prayer! I know the Lord will bless all the hard work that you and your family have done to prepare for Lucketts…was trying to figure out a way to go, but seeing how I would want to buy EVERYTHING in your booth, my husband said, NO. 🙂 I just know it will go great! Lovin' all the great things and ideas! Very inspiring! BTW…I am going to post some oars that were hung as art next to a front door and they remind me of the one you painted…love the idea of front door art…that will probably be my post, so I will send to you when it is done!
