I am not waking up at 4 AM to hit the local department stores to buy electronics and slippers and small appliances. I am not going to elbow people for the last door buster on the shelf and I am not going to wait in a line that wraps around the store. Now that I have that out of the way, let me tell you what I am going to do.
I am going to wake up whenever my boys wake me up. I’m going to shower, get dressed, feed the kiddos, and wait until my husband gets back from breakfast with the guys.
At that point, I am a free bird. I have declared that tomorrow is my day to hit as may thrift and antique stores that I can handle. Some local readers and bloggers have shared their favorite places with me and I’m planning to hit the highlights. I’m even meeting Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl to hang out. My mom and mother-in-law will be joining me, which is perfect because they are good company, but not competition for cool things.
We’ll get a yummy lunch somewhere and hopefully come home with a van full or bargains.
There is a possibility that I’ll pop into Target to get a “Buzz and Woody” bedspread for my boys, but it’s doubtful. The little guy brought me an ad and asked for it for Christmas. Awww.
I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
So, what are you doing on Black Friday?

(The pictures used in this post are some of the beautiful antiques in my in-law’s house.)

I don't like the crowd that much either, but I do need to get a few toys and gifts for family, no electronics so there's a few stores opening at midnight, I'll go for a little bit then come home and sleep in…Happy Turkey Day and have fun shopping.
HeHeHe! I WILL be getting up at 5 am to go shopping. However, I will not be standing in line. I really, really want a collapsable cutting table from JoAnne's, and it's 65% off plus I have an additional 20% off coupon. It's worth it. Plus, a few other goodies that I really want for a great deal. Since I don't do christmas, I don't feel the mad rush to buy things no one will want, I am buying things I want/need. : ) Plus, my mom is here visiting and has agreed to watch my monkey! Yeah! Have fun tomorrow at the antique and thrift stores. I may have to check a few of those too.
I am not shopping tomorrow- but I love your idea of thrifting!

Sounds like fun!I have so many totes of Christmas decor.Every year I go thru to pull out my favorites and put the rest away.I've decided to simplify this year and donate everything I'm not going to use.
Have fun! Look forward to seeing your treasures!

I am intrigued as to this Black Friday thing…what is it? In my part of the world black Friday is whenever the 13th of the month happens to fall on a Friday, but it is not the 13th, so that can't be it!
Anyway I have just about had all of Friday, it is 6pm…have had a stunningly hot late spring day with a house full of mums and kids (our coffee group)…we ate ourselves stupid, as you do, and now I am having a quiet drink when I should probably be feeding my children, lol. I love Fridays!
Hope you have a great day thrifting!
xx Karen
I never go shopping on Black Friday. But then i never want to do whatever everyone else is doing. I think a day of thrifting sounds great. I'm planning on painting my dining room furniture.
I can tell you I will not shop because advertising tells me it is the day to shop. I'll shop when I want to, thank you.
I love your plans!
Black Friday is just awful, you couldn't pay me enough to hit any of the big retailers tomorrow.
Have fun!!!
XO,
Anne
I'm NOT shopping. That's all that matters. 🙂 You couldn't pay me enough…well, okay maybe you could, but you know what I mean.
Judy
I am shopping for sure!!! For a coat and purse and lingerie!! So excited! Love this day!!
Have fun

Wish I could join you…..your day sounds like so much fun! I do not want to go anywhere close to the crowds. Of course I awoke at 3:30 this morning so I easily could have gotten dressed and joined the craziness out there but instead I am enjoying the quiet while the family sleeps.
Love your ideas!! I did Black Friday once many years ago and will never do it again. Too many crowds 🙂
Haha I have no Black Friday sales to go to & I refuse to fight the hordes at the PX for a handful of overpriced, discontinued stuff. I am however planning my next trip to Paris next weekend & hope to see your music store again & that it will be open this time. Is there anything else you'd like from Paris? I went to Poland last weekend & thought of you while looking at all that pottery lol
I won't be fighting crowds.. I get too stressed. I will check out online deals!
p.s. I am having a $50 Pottery Barn e-card giveaway if you would like to join in! xo
No Shopping for me! Your day sounds like fun! It's raining here…so I'll most likely be in most of the day! Headed to the beach tomorrow for a few days though…
Have a great weekend!

Oh your day sounds wonderful. If you don't mind could you email me a list of good places you visit today so maybe I can visit them at one time. Wish I was tagging along- so please share photos later.
I'm gonna hit the booth and drop off more holiday stuff then hit up joanns and hobbylobby.
I blew off Clines- rainy day not good.

You have a great time! I will spend this morning taking my son to the doctor for strep throat! Ugggg…then I come back and I start a new project repurposing a hope chest in my basement 🙂 I do wish I were antiquing tough. I hope you had a great thanksgiving.
No shopping for me,either! My family is going to the ASU-UCLA football game with a few other families. I'm making some turkey soup right now and will be getting some food ready for the tailgate party! Can't wait:) Happy hunting!
Krista
This black Friday, I am hanging out at home with my 3 little boys, my husband is out duck hunting for the weekend :(. Really its relieving not to be out in the crowds actually, but I would love to be out thrifting!
Miss Mustard Seed, I agree with you about shopping today! I'm so not going shopping. I decided yesterday that I would do a craft fair tomorrow, so I'm gathering and dusting off my creations to be able to set up a table. Who'd have thought that I'd attempt that again after last year's fiascos, but I'm a sucker for compliments, and even if I don't sell a thing, I love to get out there. Have a great weekend and happy finds!

There is not much that I need so I'll be watching television on my off day. No black Friday shopping for me. Have a great weekend.
Your day sounds wonderful! I can think of nothing better than thrifting! I am not shopping, but will slowly drag out the tree and a few other things while grazing on leftovers from yet another memorable Thanksgiving!
Enjoy your day! Can't wait to see your finds…
Going to work as usual. 🙂
I don't even know if we have Black Fridays here in Canada. I don't even know what they really are. Yup, just a small town hick living in a small town world. 🙂
Ok, just googled it. Apparently Canada does celebrate it but not as profoundly as the states.
Happy (yawn) early shopping! BTW… that's just crazy! 🙂

Black what? No seriously, I never follow what the rest of the universe is doing. I barely know what I'm doing at any given moment!
Your day sounds lovely!
The pictures are beautiful.
We managed a hike in our favorite park early today, lots of photos, and now my favorite man is making home made turkey soup! Then music tonight at our house!
Come to think of it I'm LOVIN' Black Friday!!!
Can't wait to see what you bought today!

I don't care how many bargains they try and lure me with I'm not going out today…the crowds the traffic the long lines…not for me. I'll be grooming my dogs instead. All of you brave souls who have the courage to go out, have fun! You wont be seeing me.lol
First thing this morning I stopped by Michael's and JoAnn Fabrics to use my coupons, then I went to two lovely antique shops and came home with a van full of bargains! Specifically, a wonderful faded pink prom dress, a pink brocade chair, and some great looking vintage fabric. A wonderful day!

Hello Marian! I am soo with you on the Black Friday thing. I just don't get it. BUT, the day after Thanksgiving here in Riverside is busy for another reason. Each year, the Historic Mission Inn Hotel downtown has its lighting ceremony which includes fireworks. Since it's directly across from Mission Galleria, where my space is, it's crazy busy! I did pretty good, too! I plan on doing a post about it soon.
Can't wait to see you post about your scores today!
Have a blessed weekend!
Missy
Sounds like the perfect "black" friday—filled with fun!
Can't wait to see what treasures you find.
Hooray, Christmas is on the horizon and I'll be transforming the house from fall and pumpkins to winter and pine cones.
