Furniture Makeovers by Barb Blair

One of the greatest things about being a part of the blog world is the friends I’ve made.  I know that sounds cheesy, but I’ve made friends with some really special girls that I share so much in common with.  One of those girls is Barb Blair of Knack.  She called me out of the blue one day to introduce herself and we’ve been great friends since.

She was such an encouragement and source of support for me as I was working on my book and now I’m so, so honored to be able to highlight her book – Furniture Makeovers.

Barb has a very unique style and is a master when it comes to the artistic and technical side of giving furniture a new life.  She shares inspirational makeovers as well as detailed tutorials on techniques.  It’s a great resource book AND coffee table book in one.  I love every page.

Here’s a cute video that gives a nice preview of what you can expect from Barb…

To celebrate Barb’s first book, which was named one of Amazon’s best books of 2013 so far, I’m giving away a copy of the book plus one of the swag bags she gave away at her book launch.  I don’t know exactly what’s in the bag, but I know that Barb does everything well and with great detail, so I’m sure it’s full of awesomeness.  (I at least know there is a roll of Frog Tape in there!)

If you’d like to win, simply leave a comment here on this post.  If you’d like to learn more about Barb, you can read her blog HERE.  You can buy a copy of her book, Furniture Makeovers, on Amazon or at other fine book stores.

The giveaway will close Sunday, July 28, 2013, at midnight PST.

Disclosure: This isn’t a paid or sponsored post.  I’m just proud of my friend.

  147. I would love to win Barb’s book of inspiration! Your book (a Christmas present from my husband that I just happened to order and wrap myself) has inspired me to try salvaging furniture that I would otherwise like to just get rid of! I recently stained an antique English gate-leg table that’s been sitting in my house unfinished for several years. It looks beautiful and didn’t take long to do. Why did I let it sit there unfinished for so long? Now it’s time to try PAINTING furniture, which seems so much more intimidating to me….

  148. what website do we put in that line above on comment section?

I would love Barb’s new furniture makeover book … would LOVE to redo a new guest room with old white/gold trimmed princess furniture to something/anything else!

  149. My husband and I just finished building a tiny cabin in VT. We’re moving in next week without walls, appliances, or furniture of any kind. Our plan is to buy used furniture and refinish it. This book would really help. In the meantime, your blog sustains me. Thanks, Marion.

  384. First I really liked the catchy tune playing as she went through her video. Secondly, before and after pictures are so beneficial to understanding more about the process. It demonstrates the “love affair” if you will that you can have with something you create like furniture makeovers. You want to plan it, stroke it, redecorate the inside, decide on the pulls, polish it and love it and then take pictures to show it off. Nice post and great ideas.

  385. We have been picking up furniture from the side of the road, put out for trash, for a couple of years. I need this book to bolster courage to paint it up! Intimidated by the old “that might be a valuable antique” thought…

Without the creative outlet of art, reinventing items for different uses, and encouragement to redo furniture (which has become a passion), my life wouldn’t be the same. Cannot wait to see you in Asheville in August, and am so excited to meet yet another blogger whose written a book and sharing her expertise. This is such a wonderful addition and inspiration for a creative outlet! I love DIY! Thanks Marian! 🙂
