Trash Waiting to be treasures

Ok, this is my basement. Yikes. These are all of the pieces waiting to be painted for the shop that sells my furniture, accessories, and antiques. As you can see, I have LOTS to do! I haven’t talked a lot about “my” shop in this blog, yet. It’s located in downtown Gettysburg, PA and it’s called Accessories – Fashion, Home & Kids. I call it “my” shop, but that’s only because I’m living vicariously through the woman who actually owns the shop, Denise. We started working together in December of 2008 and what started out as a few of my hand-painted Christmas ornaments selling in her shop has turned into a great partnership. We are planning to move to a larger shop in a couple of months, so I am getting geared up for that. Once we’re in the larger space, my goal is to keep this pile MUCH smaller. (I also have a love seat and two chairs that I need to slipcover, a dresser in the middle of my living room that I need to refinish, and piles of dishes, fabric, and frames in my workshop/office.)

I dug this vintage crib out of my grandfather’s attic and I’m planning to dismantle it and use the parts for different things. Come back soon to see how it turns out!

I’ve been collecting chandeliers to rehab, paint and hang in the new shop. These were off of Craig’s List. The basket and croquet mallets are future projects also for the shop.

This huge oak door is from an old church. It was another save from my grandfather’s attic. Apparently my grandmother (Oma) used it as a headboard years ago..before HGTV and Trading Spaces. She was a lady ahead of her time.

This vanity is waiting for decorative painting, some antique stain, a final top-coat and glass knobs. The mirrors are in a safe place while I’m working on it. The color is a much softer aqua than it looks like in this picture…I’ll be showing some after pictures soon. I guess I’d better get off the computer and get to work!

Your basement looks like such a fun place! I love that vanity – I'm sure it will be gorgeous when you're done with it! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. To answer your question, we made some holes in the walls and fed all the wires through. They come out of the wall on the side of the fireplace and into an armoire that holds all our components. Hope that answers your question!
