First, I need to give a shout-out to my friend Becky from Infarrantly Creative and her new-ish blog, Knock-Off Decor.  I know you girls love flipping through the pages of Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware, not to see what you can buy, but to see what you can make.  This blog is a place to show it off and get even more inspiration.  If that’s your thing…check it out!

Next…I had no idea how often I used my dining room for photo shoots and now that my dining room is a staging area, I am having a tough time finding places to take pretty pictures!  I finished a dining room set…picture it with me…antique European grain sack seat covers, white distressed French provincial chairs, a hand waxed table top in a warm wood…I love it.  Anyway, I can’t get pictures of that and the other things I’ve finished to take to Lucketts, because they are sitting in my basement!  So, with all of the work I’ve done, this is what I can share today…

Remember the feed sack chair I unveiled a while ago…
I found this pretty chair at Goodwill and the lines looked sort of French to me…and it was sturdy…and it was cheap, so I bought it.  Immediately, I thought it would look great donned in a feed sack.
I painted the frame in Louis Blue by Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint and upholstered the seat in an antique American feed sack.

(Oh my gosh…look at the dust on my floor!!  This is what happens when I’m getting ready for a fair.)  Anyway, it’s coming with me to sell at Lucketts.
Here are a couple of other things I’ve found…

Some antique buggy wheels…

…and this really cool antique buggy frame.  It is old!  And can you believe I found it at a yard sale!!

I love the wheels.  I think I’m going to have my husband make a box out of some old barn wood to put on top.  It would look great on a porch or in a garden.
More to come…
Help if you can…

Great find! I love the buggy! I think you could make a box for it like you said and plant something inside! It would be fabulous!

Thanks to you, Marian, I look at 'used' furniture in a whole new light. I am now on the hunt for that perfect solid piece, with gorgeous lines just begging for a facelift. Just the other day, I spotted a dresser, and thought, how would Miss Mustard Seed transform this? Bad news is, it wasn't for sale, so I couldn't tackle that project myself. I'm sure there will be many more finds in my future, now that I'm looking at pieces with Miss Mustard Seed eyes =)
      Adore the buggy!!

So, I was at the Charlotte antique market today and saw someone selling Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, which I've been dying to try. And I was like, "So…do you read Miss Mustard Seed's blog?" thinking she was going to say, "huh?" and then I'd feel stupid. Not only does she read it, but she's doing a giveaway with you next week. I felt like I crossed into some other realm, lol…I was going to buy some paint then and there, but they had no white, which if I'm going to buy a color at that price I really need something super-neutral. But I saw what she painted and it looked great!

Love how this chair turned out! Now I need to cut into my stash of feed sacks and make something.

I hope you post some pics of that dining table 🙂 I bought one just like it & have been hoping to see what you do with yours for inspiration!

    14. Lisa @ Fern Creek Cottage

I hope you haven't already answered this and I just missed it, but do you know if you can mix chalkpaints? For example, if the blue was just a bit too dark could you mix in a little white?
Your feed sack chair looks gorgeous!! I can't wait to try using chalk paint!

    15. Lori @ Katies Rose Cottage Designs

Such great finds!! Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

    22. Sandy

I am so in love with this chair. Your distressing is amazing (that didn't sound quite right, but you know what I mean) I was wondering did you use the dark wax or the clear on this piece? It is gorgeous!

I am going to do a desk with the Louis Blue and mix in some Provence. I can't wait to try it. But I am wondering about the wax and what you chose for this particular piece.

      Happy Mother's Day !

p.s. what dust? I'm looking at the chair!

    23. Sandy

oh and what grade sand paper did you use if I might ask?

    24. Sandy

me again, while looking at the chair I am almost sure you used the clear wax,(was it the Hannant's wax from Annie's?) if so, how did you get it so dark on the distressed rungs of the chair back and parts of the legs, was that from sandpaper? Ahhhhhh your so good! I'm just a beginner and you have inspired me so much, I can't begin to tell you! (sorry if I am asking too many questions)

    25. Lori Flaherty

The chair is just beautiful! I love the wheel too. I need to do more treasure hunting!

    27. Anita @ Cedar Hill Ranch

You have inspired me. I am redoing my back porch with the chalk paint and feedsacks. That's at least five rockers and a daybed. I will be sharing the results with you as I go along. Blog is http://cedarhillranch.blogspot.com. Have four pillows made so far, and going to paint store Friday. I am excited! Happy Mothers Day. Hugs, and thanks for all the great advice on the paint.

      Blessings!

    30. One Shabby Old House

You are always such an inspiration. Love the chair. Do you have to do anything special in the prep before painting with chalk paint. Like primer? I love the way it looks.
      Happy Mother's Day
      Becky
