Craigslist Dresser & Eulalie’s Sky

I am in major shopping mode for the Lucketts Antique Market, which is just over two weeks away!  Yikes!  So, I was cruising craigslist.com last night and found this beauty right in my own back yard.  (Well, not literally.)  My dad picked it up for me today and she is a beauty.

Most pieces I buy are pretty rough, but this one is in perfect condition.

It’s so beautiful, that I’ve decided to keep it for my guest room and I’m going to sell this one instead…

That’s how it goes around here.  Out with the old and in with the older!

I also wanted to give a sneak peek of some smaller pieces I painted for the fair in one of my new MMS Milk Paint colors…

I’m going to be introducing six new colors and will paint a dresser with each of them, as I did with the original colors, but I’ll give you some previews before that.  This color is called “Eulalie‘s Sky.”

Do you see why?

I’m off to an auction tonight and hope I come home with a van load of awesome stuff!

  2. I am going to the Lucketts market (this will be the first time as a shopper and not a vendor). I have to have that little stool for my daughter!!!!

  3. Gorgeous dresser! Those drawer pulls are amazing… and i am soooo tickled to have a paint color named after Eulalie!!! Not only that, it is a to die for heavenly color!

  4. Great color! My gosh, you have a midas touch. You sure have worked hard. I wish you much success at the fair. Wish I was close enough to go.

  5. That dresser is so pretty, I love painted furniture but that wood is gorgeous. Will you be painting it? The new milk paint color is so soft and pretty, cant wait to see the rest of the colors.

      1. So glad your going to leave this alone! It’s beautiful and it remains valuable untouched. I have seen so many beautiful antique pieces that were in excellent shape get painted. The antique dealer told me to never paint them because the value is almost nothing once painted or stripped. I just couldnt imagine painting a hand carved mahogany armoire and i see that a lot. I guess I always saw antiques as an investment .

  6. Lucky find on the dresser but tough call on choosing between them, although, if it makes one less project to have ready for Lucketts then I’d probably make the same choice. LOL!

LOVE the new milk paint color too! Very fresh & pretty & cutely named 😉

  7. I tried your Kitchen Scale for the first time last night. All I have to say is I AM IN LOVE with your paint. Keep the new colors coming. It is my favorite milk paint!

  8. LOVE the new color!!! Forget coming and hanging out with you …. can I adopt you? Really wish I could come to Luckett’s market but I live to far. I am thinking road trip for next year.

    Blessings!

  9. wish you lived closer a fellow vendor just marked down two pieces a highboy with dresser to swoon over and another matching…low with large mirror both have mirrors both in great shape almost hard to paint…and patina O my if I had room…each 200.00 these could be flipped for 600.00 in your area without any work….

    love your decisions…
love the new color one of my favs todate
    you continue to amaze…

  10. PS you know your piece will sell…as it is famous and you need to sign it…seriously sign your work….it will mean a lot to who buys your pieces

  11. Marian, I love that color. So beautiful and yes, I see it is the same color of the sky with your cow. LOVE! Can’t wait to get my hands on that color. Good luck at the auction! x

  12. Hi Marian! Love that color. I finally used your milk paint on a small chair. It was a free chair that one of my clients gave me and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it- so I used your Flow Blue. I learned a lot just by doing this small project. One – was that I should have sanded the chair down before painting! I knew that I wanted to have the chippy look but when most of the paint chipped off, I knew that my shortcut was wrong. So, I sanded where I could and it then came out great. The darker stain underneath was still shiny in some spots which Now I know how I could have avoided that. I will post on my blog when it’s complete (I am having my seamstress make a seat cover for it – I just don’t have your sewing skills!!)

It’s a great product – and your wax is the best. I use it on Chalk Paint as well. It’s my favorite wax now!!

    Thanks,
    Linda

  13. I just got my shipment of Kitchen Scale, Ironstone, Bonding Agent and Hemp Oil in today. I am going to paint an old upright piano (another family heirloom) with MMSMP. I originally was going to use Flow Blue, but now I’m tempted to use Kitchen Scale….

Decisions, decisions. We are excited, though!

    Good Lucketts!
    Jared

  14. I just love that cow painting…have admired it in many of your posts. I seem to remember that you said that it was done for you by a local artist…any way to get prints of it??

  15. I have that exact same dresser you are selling from your guest room. I turned mine into a bathroom vanity with a vessel sink. I love it!!!

  16. That is a beautiful dresser…SO glad you’ve resisted the ‘paint bug’ with that one! I wish the Lucketts fair was a bit closer. 🙁

  18. Marian I am so excited about the new color. I just did a dresser and was able to make that color with a chalk paint recipe and now I will have it in my own miss mustard seed milk paint!!! Awesome Thanks for all your hard work and enjoy the fair!!!!/

  19. TWO WEEKS! YIPPEE! I’m just 5 miles from Lucketts–see you Sunday!

  20. You always fid the best treasures, I love all of them. That dresser seems to be in decent condition. Can’t wait to see the new colors. I love your colors but have never tried them out of fear they won’t work right and I won’t be able to get the technique. I have used ASCP but I am afraid to try to use something else. Is it hard to work with or am I just being silly???

  21. Oh wow your flame mahogany piece is gorgeous! (Probably 1850’s?) You gotta love craigslist!….And don’t you ever paint it or I will find you and spank you! *winks* Love the Eulalie’s sky paint color! Vanna

  22. Beautiful dresser. “Out with the old and in with the older”…ha! Lovely new color and name. Can’t wait to see the others. Fingers crossed that one is a perfect lavender gray color. If so, don’t even bother taggin’ THAT dresser. It’s coming home with me from Luckett’s!

  23. I love all of your projects! I have something for sale on craigslist I would love to see you do. It is a mid-century Drexel Hollywood regency piece. I’m not sure if it is just a cabinet or armoire?

  24. I just don’t think I can take it much longer. Cows are one animal I’ve never painted. Miss Eulalie has won my muse’s heart though.

I’m headed over to Ree’s for some photo inspiration 😉

  25. LOVE the new color! Can’t wait to try it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me where I can get a rug like the one in the pictures under the stool! I have been looking for months for just the right rug for my family room in those exact colors. It’s been at your house this whole time! I should have known… you have amazing style. Can’t wait for Lucketts… see you Saturday!

  26. Love the dresser your going to sell at Lucketts! I will be there that Saturday. Do you have an idea how much it will be?
    Can’t wait to come!

  27. That Eulalie’s sky is such a fabulous color! I am in love! 🙂
I bought your book for my mother and I for morher’s day, each our own copies. I know we are guaranteed to be inspired. 🙂

  28. Thank you again for helping with Sandy relief. The new dresser is beautiful. I love the leafy pulls. If you ever decide to sell it, let me know!

  29. The dresser is so beautiful . I am glad you are leaving as is. Wow , the Eulalie’s sky is beautiful, soft color.

  30. So I was totally the stalker @ the auction last night…I was thrilled to meet you and could not even believe it was you, lol!! Sorry if I was all over the place…I have followed you for quite a while and absolutely love your work, so was a little star-struck! Hope to see you again! Can’t wait to see what you do with the great table and awesome little chair you got last night! See ya at Lucketts!

  31. Any color named after a sweet little cow is fine in this ol’ farm girls eyes:)

  32. Love the new blue “Eulalies Sky” – what a sweet tribute to her and the incredible artist. Good luck at the flea market – wish I was closer and I would come – flea markets are my favorite – love meeting some of the cool people (both shoppers and vendors).

  33. Your new piece is just wonderful! Yay, Dad! We’ll be anxiously awaiting all the new colors!
(Yes, we’d all love to go shopping with you!)
    Cheers!,
    Barbara

  34. This new color is to die for! Wish I could find it here in France or in Sweden, where I live except for spring and autumn .

  35. Beautiful dresser, Marian!
HA, I do the same, keep switching things around!!!
I love the little stool!!!! Great colour you chose!
I saw the “old dresser” and the cow painting and the ironstone…
Just wanted to tell yo that you got me hooked on cows (so far no painting) and on ironstone…
    XOXO
    Claudine

  36. Love the dresser! I found a dresser on craigslist that I would love to have, granted my guy will have to go and get it for me since I am not home yet. Is there somewhere on the internet that I can find out what this piece is worth, so I don’t over pay! Right now all I have is a picture, since the seller is out of town I have to wait to questions. Thanks – Can’t wait to see the new Milk Paints colors!!!

  37. I love your new milk paint color! And speaking of MMSMP, I was SO excited the other day. I was going to head out to the closest Mustard Seed Milk Paint retailer to me. I went on line to check the address only to find, to my great delight, that a store in Lodi, CA now carries your milk paint. Not only did I find your paint close to home, I discovered a very fun store (Secondhand Rose) in the process. I told the owner she needs to talk you into coming to Lodi (near Sacramento) and giving a class.

  38. Yay!!!! LOVE the new color!!! I’m so excited to see what else debuts. This is such a pretty aqua. Can’t wait to try it out 🙂

  39. Where do you go to auctions?
Love all your beautiful stuff. Hardest thing is to pick a color.

  40. MAY i ASK HOW MUCH YOU PD FOR THE DRESSER? i AM SPYING ONE ON CRAIGSLIST RIGHT NOW AND THEY ARE ASKING 175.00 YOUR THOUGHTS?

  41. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color! When will it be available?
I just picked up my first bag of paint the other day (linen) and I was wondering how I could make this with the existing colors. I hope I don’t have to wait too long! It is perfect!

  42. Love your paint! I am interested in the sweet rug under the stool. I am looking for a rug in all those colors for my hallway. Would you share where you found it?

    Thanks!
