Coolness is Colliding

Some of you may know that The Graphics Fairy/Karen and I are good friends.  She’s one of only a few people I actually talk to on the phone regularly and she’s been such a wonderful mentor and encouraging influence in my life.  She’s the one who got me into Lucketts as a vendor, first selling furniture out of her space.  So, a few weeks ago, we were catching up on the phone and she says something like, “I bet you’re so excited to finally meet Donna.”  WHAT?! When will I be meeting Donna?  “Yeah, didn’t you know she was coming out to Lucketts for a Hometalk Meet Up?”  NO!!  GET OUT!  AND it turns out that they are going to be my booth neighbors.

Hometalk gets Funky Junked at Lucketts

DonnaThe Graphics Fairy….Hometalk….Lucketts.  Coolness is colliding.

See, Donna and I have been blog buddies since the beginning.  Since I had 75 followers.  We e-mailed a lot.  Cheered each other on.  Did blog series together and even made videos impersonating one another.  (It involved Donna wearing a blonde wig and me yelling at my neighbors to quit putting rusty goodness in the trash.)  She lives on the west coast of Canada.  I live on the east coast of the US.  We’ve never met in person.  And now we will.  At LUCKETTS!  Amazing.  And you can come, too!

On top of all of that, one of my other blog BFFs, Barb Blair of Knack,  will be at Lucketts on totally unrelated business…a book signing at the Stylish Patina barn sale on Friday, May 17.

The Lucketts Antique Market experience has been very overwhelming for me the past couple of years and this year is going to be so amazing that I can hardly take it.  It makes me even more excited to get really, really awesome things and to bring some of my best furniture ever.

You can read Donna’s post about her upcoming trip HERE and follow the action on Twitter by using #HTLucketts.

So, what can you expect from me at the fair? Of course I’ll have as many pieces of furniture as I can paint.  I will have some upholstered pieces as well (and I have some beautiful Hungarian linen for those!)  I’m bringing a lot of my signature items like preserved boxwood wreaths in all sizes, some rolls of jute webbing and ribbon…

…my custom blend of German Glass Glitter…

…European linens…

(I can’t see this BM towel without being immature.  I think you gravitate towards potty humor when you work with teenagers…and have a husband and two boys.)

…lots of ironstone, plus as much cool stuff as I can find.

 AND I’ll bring my t-shirts…

…and my book, Inspired You

…and free rolls of Frog Tape for those who ask for one (while supplies last.)

I’m going to have lots of help again this year, so I’ll be free to sign books, kiss babies and just chat.  Whatever you want from me.  I’m just going to be so glad to be there.  I hope you’ll be able to be there, too.

  1. I will be there too! Most of the furniture I am bringing with be painted with MMS milk paint in all different colors 🙂 And I have gotten in the glitter mood and have lots of glitter magnets. Pretty much a lot of stuff inspired by you! I can’t wait to see everyone again and of course meet with all the wonderful people that shop at the Lucketts fair!

    1. yeah, I want a shirt too! …and you to sign my book, Marian… and to get my picture taken with you …and to buy stuff…but really, the shirt !! 🙂 unfortunately, I can’t miss work to drive for hours to get to Luckettss fair but a shirt might ease that pain

  2. You are so blessed!! I love Karen, she and I talk on twitter, and I would love to meet her! Of course I’d like to meet you in real life too, but until then I’ll just be your words with friends buddy! Lol it’s your turn!! 😉
    Blessings!!

  3. You just would NOT believe how excited I am!!! It’s all I talk about EVERYDAY!! LOL I’m becoming totally hard to live with I’m sure!!!

  4. I will be there and made my hotel reservations last week. It’s going to be a mother/daughter weekend and my mother is so looking forward to it. I feel like a little girl going to Disney World for the first time. I can’t not wait to be there for the entire weekend. Let me know how I can find your booth. I am so looking forward to meeting you and bringing my book for you to sign it.

  5. Love the teasers and love you. Any one that wonders is Lucketts worth the trip, simply said, YES…I look forward to this every year and it just gets better and better. I am soooooooo excited, the count down is on.

  6. You girls are going to have sooooo much fun at this years show…I sure wish I could come by and meet all of you…just a tad bit of a road trip from coastal Alabama.

    Blessings,
    Linda

  7. I just read about this Lucketts Home Talk via the Funky Junk Interiors blog. What a small world! Good luck. I love all your products, especially those humorous hand towels. Thanks for posting!

  8. You are so excited! You have me giddy with excitement and all I am doing is reading your post! You made me giggle out loud when you said you would be free to kiss babies. For some reason that just cracked me up. Visions of so many presidents doing the obligatory baby kiss passed through my mind. Now I see you kissing babies instead of presidents. That’s better actually because you are much prettier than any president we have had (so far:-)

  9. Sounds spectacular! Soooo wish I could be there! I’d love to shop the goodness. I’d love to meet you and the other blog mavens. I’d love to get away from here for a few days! One of these days I’m gonna take a road trip!

  10. Oh I soooo wish that I was closer! I would LOVE to visit Luckettes! Maybe if I can plan ahead for next year, I can take a small trip and come! hummmm….something to think and dream about!

  11. Oh Marian … wish I could come, but just a far piece from Texas. Good luck and I know you will have a wonderful time.
    Blessings,

  12. Well if Lucketts was closer I would be in serious troublel, lol with all the buying ,Maybe some things , we should keep secret, From the Hub I Agree with the comment above, you should sell your tee shirts on line, I so won’t one .good selling at Lucketts hope every one has a blessed Day .

  13. I can’t tell you how much I want to come! 2 of my very favorite bloggers in one place! My parents live close to Hagerstown (MD) so not a very far drive to Lucketts. If ONLY my son wasn’t still in school then!

  14. Oh my gosh that Luckett’s event sounds so awesome. Wish it was closer to Tampa. Maybe next time though.
And, I just wanted to let you know I totally get your sense of humor. I don’t even have sons (3 daughter actually) and I got the potty joke but what really made me laugh out loud was the fact that you actually included it in your post and it completely flowed.
    You’re a great writer…and funny too.
    Cheers to you and yours,
    Therese

  15. Is it just me, or does your dress form look like she’s strutting her stuff with a little hip action?! LOL! So envious you get to meet Donna, live and in person. She seems like such a fun, down-to-earth person. You ARE getting someone to come take photographs for you at Luckett’s, right? You’ll be too busy to shoot many yourself and we’re counting on LOTS of pictures! Looking forward to hearing all about it!

  16. I am so excited to be there as a first time vendor (yikes!) as well! Just to be surrounded by all of you superstars is quite an honor for little ol’ me 🙂 I’m super busy getting stuff ready and hope I have enough! My family has been fairly patient with all of the random partially painted pieces of furniture and signs laying all around the house. I’m not easy to live with these days 🙂 Take care and keep the Lucketts posts coming! — Pauline (Twin Oaks Studio)

  17. Hi. Love all your inspiring ideas and blog. Wish I was closer to Lucjetts. When I lived in Leesburg there was nothing out there. Do you ever sell any of your preserved boxwood wreaths or other items on line? Have a beautiful day!

  18. Hi Marian,
I think the mother/daughters trip sounds awesome…I need to round them up for this one!
Any suggestions on hotel’s? The dates are May 17-19th?
    Thanks!!

    1. It’s only Saturday & Sunday…May 18-19. I would suggest staying in either Leesburg, VA or Frederick, Maryland. I’m not sure about a specific hotel, though…

  19. That looks like soooo much fun!!! Too bad grad school finals are that week or I would definitely be there!

I don’t usually do the grammer police thing, but since it it something you are selling as part of your awesome Miss Mustardseed Brand 🙂 – I believe the German Glass Glitter label should read “fine and coarse” not “course”. Just a heads up for your next set of labels.

    1. Heidi, no offense but the word you used “grammer” in this situation is spelled grammar. This is a common error and believe me, I have made my share. Take care

  20. My daughter’s initials are BM and she was just telling me how she NEVER signs with initials, just her full name. And she is going to be a nurse, where you initial everything. Sigh, well, hopefully she will marry a man with anything but M for a last name. or A 🙂 or S (ack!)

  21. Potty humor is about all I have left after raising 4 kids!

I can “hear” the excitment in your writing. Very cool. I am a designer turned blogger and like you mentioned, it’s fun to connect with people who are just starting out to share ideas and encourage each other. That’s what life is all about.

  22. My grandmother’s name was Bertha Mae… BM! She really didn’t like her initials and would use her maiden name initial in place of the “M”. She did this until she died at 86 so… you are not alone in your potty humor thoughts! 🙂

  23. I love potty humor 🙂 but it was hard to get the joke when English is not your first language. So my husband and I discussed the topic (can you imagine???), but we couldn’t figure it out. Thank you Google! Hugs from Belgium.

  24. Oh Marian!! I am SO super-duper excited!!! I can’t wait to see all your treasures AND meet Donna and Miriam AND enjoy the delightfulness of the fabulous Lucketts Fair!! How much fun can one gal have?!! We’ll see!! I’ve already started saving my pennies!!! See you next month!! ~ Jennifer

  25. Today I have 75 followers and counting…hoping my blogging friends & followers increase as yours have. I have enjoyed the last 3 months of blogging so very much. I am going to check out the blogs/women you mention here. No doubt I will be further impressed by more smart, savvy & stylish gals.
Wish I could go to the sale, but I am sending my Aunt Debra who lives near-ish enough!
    Kelly

  26. I wish i could be there! It’s fun to hear you so excited about it all too… it feels to me like you’re really falling into a good niche, and things are becoming more balanced for you… smile…

    Cindy

  27. Take pictures, if time allows, and post for all of us who CAN’T drive that far for the fun!!!
if I had thought about it earlier, I would have hired a coach bus to pick everyone up from the Texas area to go to Luckette’s, but it sounds as though i would need to rent an airplane for the loot we would be buying!
I can’t wait until you open the on-line store, you had better stock up again!!! We are ALL SAVING UP:))) On the linens, I took pictures of a business in San Antonio, Texas that had their own parking lot and a HUGE sign that read: PARKING FOR B M CUSTOMERS ONLY”!
We felt we had the right to park there because all of us in the car had met the criteria!!
I sent them to Jay Leno and Letterman:))))) The business was called: Builders Mart:)
Many blessings for a successful sale!!!

  28. I wish there were events like this in Los Angles. Can you believe it – nothing like it – that I know of. And the San Fernando Valley – a wasteland. Of course we have the great Rose Bowl Flea market and there is a bi-annual Remnants of the Past in mid-coast California. Not a barn in site and seems no picking to be had. I am so envious/jealous/sad I cannot go to things like this. I WANT TO GO EAST!!!!! PS: I turned my girlfriend into a dumpster diver in training. I was so proud of her when she brought home an adorable broken chair. Seems the trash is the best pickings around.

  29. Marian,

I have been so inspired by your encouraging words, re-read your book a few times, and had the opportunity to speak to over 100 women at my church last week to boot! (I was scared but it was an awesome experience and they loved it) So, we are junking, discovering the gifts He has given us, and fixing up our homes on a nickel here on the West coast. I hope to join you all someday too 🙂

    Hugs, Tanya

  30. Can you tell me how much the glitter & the burlap rolls are please? Thanks want to decide how much to buy! Can’t wait!

  31. I have a childhood friend with the initials BM. Oh how we used to torment him with that. Still laugh about it now!
Looks like such a fun weekend. I think The Graphics Fairy, MMS and Funky Junk Donna need to come to Chicago-land area.
Lots of cool junkin’ to be had here. Tons of great Bloggers too!
    K

  32. Like so many other women around the globe, wishing I lived closer to Lucket Fair. It sounds like “Loads” of fun!! I love all you crafty women and I thank you all for the inspiration we readers receive, every day. It’s such a gift!!

  33. Again, I’m wishing I was going to Lucketts even more than ever before! But, I have to say that the towel has my name on it, literally, my initials are BM. Don’t laugh, before getting married, they were BAD. I don’t know if I went from BAD to worse! LOL!

I remember it being such an exciting time for you when you were preparing for it last year, this year will be even bigger! Enjoy!

  34. OHHHH!!! So jealous of all those who can attend…I just map quested, and its almost 6 hour drive from NY!! If only my kids were bigger and I can leave them home for a weekend! Looks like its so much fun!!

  35. Hope you put your autographed book and t shirts for sale as well. Can’t wait to see .

  36. I would love to get a hold of one of your awesome T-Shirts, are they available online??

  37. UGH!
I SO wish I could be there!

I am busy here working on my re-branding (new blog)

and re-doing my whole decor! You are such an inspiration! I only hope I can do as much for my readers!!

Have lots of fun and good luck!

    Hugs!
    Kerri

  38. Jeex! Don’t tell me Donna is really driving across Canada to attend Luckett’s? Holy cow! The woman is crazy! Aren’t we all? I SO wish I was going to be there…and everywhere, sales like this are going on!
    Cheers to all of you!,
    Barbara

  39. How I WISH that I could go to this Market, as I could meet All of You, and Shop and have the time of my Life!!!!!

  40. I simply CANNOT wait for this Market. It will be my first! And I can’t wait to meet you dear Miss Mustard Seed and purchase one of your shirts. 🙂 I already own your book and love it to death. I’m gushing……:)

  41. Dear Marian!!!!
    This is all so exciting!!!!
I just commented on donna’s page that I wish I could be there with all of you!!!
I live closer to Donna (about 2 hours away) ,and I would love to meet her, too!
Maybe for next year you let us know about Luckets in advance?
Who knows, maybe I could make it a Mother’s Day trip!
    Have lots of FUN!!!!
    Claudine

  42. About the potty remark….I know exactly what you are thinking as my last name is Meyer, I always include my middle initial so it comes out BJM not just BM. LOL’

  43. I am so excited! I live on the coast of southeastern VA and my mom and I are planning a girls trip to come up there!! Can’t wait 🙂
