Goodwill Was Good to Me

Today I made a run over to Goodwill and it was very good to me. Lately, I have been scoring big time, but I do have dry spells, too…just wait. Anyway, I found all of this great stuff at one place for $24.00…

This is an antique cobalt blue enamel roasting pan. A great find at $6.97.

I’ve been told you can tell a really old roaster by the bottom. If the sides are like the picture below, it’s an old and valuable piece.

This is the third mirrored vanity tray I’ve found in the last 3 weeks! Check out my other vanity tray makeover.

This set of 4 plates was $2.97! I bought a small green one exactly like this at World Market a few years ago for about $6.00. All of my dishes are blue & white, so these will fit right in.

The jury is still out on this basket…is it ugly or cute? It was only $1.97 and in great condition. There’s just something really neat about it, but kind of ugly, too…I just couldn’t pass it up. It was $1.97 and will go in the shop as is.

I really like parts of this lamp – the ceramic figure and the marble base, but there are these plastic cream connectors that I need to deal with. This will be so cute when it gets a little TLC.

This table was the find of the day at $4.97! I thought for sure it would be $20 or something crazy like that, but under $5.00…sold! The leather top and wood finish is a little rough, but nothing that can’t be fixed. I love the fret work on the sides and all of the little details in around the table edges and the drawer.

Look out for before & after picture on this piece.

Even the hardware is great…nothing a little oil rubbed bronze couldn’t fix! Gotta love Goodwill.

  1. That was such a generous comment you left for me-thank you very much-but you are a true artist yourself! I love seeing all the beautiful makovers you do-they are wonderful!

  2. I am the same way with thrift store/garage sale finds…I go through spells of finding some of the greatest deals and then spells where I can't even find something ugly to walk out with!

  3. You have scored lately on your GW finds. That table was a great buy at under $5.00…I know you will turn it into something fabulous….and I will be anxious to see….I bought a similar table (without the cool fretwork) recently at a thrift store….mine is still waiting for a redo….maybe you can help me with some inspiration!

  4. Ooh, la, la. You struck it again! Love your finds, especially the blue plates and the table with the leather top. I can't wait to see what you do with it! Thanks for visiting me, I joined your follower list as well, thanks for joining and I look forward to seeing more of your creativity. Marla

  5. O, Miss Mustard..what great treasures you have found. I just know that table, when finished, is gonna knock our sox off!!

Come over and see my thrift store finds, too…we both lucked out this time.

  6. Dear Little Miss Mustard Seed…:O)

Just wanted to mention (and you probably already know this..) to be sure to clean your brass really good with a spray cleaner before you paint it. It tends to puddle and spot if it's not really clean.
By me telling YOU this, it's like telling Noah about the flood !! But…just wanted to mention the cleaning. Be sure to show us your big candle holder when you get it painted..ok?

  7. I have a basket that looks almost exactly like that one. Hubby's grandmother bought it when she lived in Cuernavaca, Mexico. I am about to list it on EBay later this year. I think its cute, but not the style of the house I am doing.

  8. O.K. – I love all your finds but…that basket – girl I hope you have a vision – make me like it k ? LOL ! (never ask me an opinion – cuz I will give it – I say that with hugs and kisses !)

  9. I love the end table – do you have any idea how to clean up the leather top? I have 2 old tables with leather tops and they are crackled from dryness
