my favorite so far

I received several calls from The Lucketts Store last weekend.  It seems that everyone decided to buy furniture out of my room and it was practically cleaned out.  So, I had to work like crazy for a few days and then I went down on Thursday to get it all filled up.  Here’s what it looked like when I was done…

The dining set is an antique that belonged to my grandfather, but no one in the family wanted it. I refinished the top and painted the base in a washed gray.  The chairs are upholstered in a grain sack from Poland.

I built the oversized chalk board for a Cottages and Bungalows tutorial.  Look for that issue soon.

I found a huge ironstone set at an antique mall last week, so I used it to set the table.  Antique strawberry baskets are filled with bagged lavender buds and a starfish and placed at each setting.

A small chicken feeder holds my new business cards.

I think it’s my favorite set up of the room so far.  I’ll give you a closer look at the buffet, Greek Blue dresser and dining set in other posts.  I hope you are having a great weekend!

  15. It's no wonder your space was cleaned out – it all looks so gorgeous! Truly a feast for the eyes from the moment you walk in! Love the newest setup too. Hope you're working on the next round of goodies to fill it up again, as I'm guessing that is going to happen again soon. 😉

  16. I just saw the movie "THE HELP". There was a scene in the movie which takes place in Jackson Miss. where they show some people going into a cafe on the main street and the store next door was Lucketts! It takes place in the 60's (good movie). I thought of you when I saw the sign!!
    P.S. Love your blog:)

  17. It looks so lovely!! I love all of the lavender you have out; it's everywhere and it looks beautiful! I bet your room smells wonderful, too. Wish I could go to the Luckett's Store, I'd buy one of those adorable berry basket place settings!

  18. Well I think it's my favorite also 🙂 There is just something about a table setting that gets me inspired. Hope you wouldn't mind if I "copied" your great idea for using the antique baskets for place settings… I love the look with the ironstone.
    Your space is just gorgeous.

  19. I love it all…no wonder folks are buying everything…it is so well thought out…and you are so gifted!
And, where oh where did you get your business cards, please? thank you, beverleeb@comcast.net

  20. i am blown away. not a new experience seeing your work, but you just keep making it all better. and betterer.
    xow.

  21. Oh, it's incredible as usual. I love the dining set and the tablescape. You did a wonderful job! I also noticed your gold leaf mirror on the wall. I'm assuming it's the one you said you were working on last week. I have a question about that. What sort of preparation of the surface do you need to do before you get started with the gold leaf process? Sand? I have a mirror that I just scored at a thrift store for $14 and I'd love to silver leaf it for our living room. Thank you for sharing all of your hard work!! XO Laura bandbsnest@gmail.com

  22. Sadly, I was at Lucketts this past spring and you weren't upstairs yet. My daughter lives in DC so maybe I can swing by again soon. You frequently talk about how quickly things sell. Maybe you should consider raising your prices just a bit. You won't have to work quite so hard to make just as much money.

  23. Wow, your room is beautiful! I wish I had the space for that dining set. I was very close to my grandparents, and we are Polish-American, so I really felt an emotional connection with the table and the Polish grain-sack chairs!

  24. I love the new business cards. How clever to make them round. They will definitely make an impression as do your room settings.

  25. I'm new to blogging and found your site looking for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Your site is Fabulous!! The two colors of paint I love are Paris Grey and Old White.

  26. Maybe you would be interested in selling the 4 chairs without the table? love the chairs… need the chairs… xo

  27. I hope you still have stuff in your space for my shopping pleasure this Saturday!!!! I love your new business cards and I can't wait to shop your stuff and get a MMS original for myself!

Did you ever paint your kitchen Owl Gray or Halo?

  28. Okay, I am now getting a strong urge to pop the girls in the car tomorrow and head up there to raid your space! I want just about everything in there.

  29. what a beautiful setting…love the dining set…how in the world did you find feedsacks from poland? an amazing find….you have a gorgeous blog and the photos are truly a joy to look at….

  30. Hi there, Miss MS,
Your buffet is lovely – it hardly looks like the same piece! I wonder what type of stripper you prefer. I will look in past postings to see if you mention one.

  31. Love it too. I have some really nice sheet music here and have been pondering having it laminated to use for placemats. Have you put some sort of covering on the sheets you used?

  32. Love the dining room. Can you please tell me where you got the area mat under the dining table or how you made it? Love it all but interested in the stenciled mat.
