To be honest, my post yesterday about my French Settee was a bit of a “throw away” post. I have been out with a cold, so I needed something to share. Not having anything new, I looked through my pictures to see what I could write about. I had some pictures of the settee and I had not shared about it, before, so that was the winner. I had some requests to see it with the quilt removed and I aim to please!
It is slipcovered in a white cotton twill fabric. This was a pretty tricky slipcover, because it involved making a front piece, a back piece, and then tying them together in strategic places. I also made a cover for the single down cushion.
(whoops…there’s a thread that needs to be cut!) Anyway, I made the ties extra long to lace them around the curvy legs.

i love it. so pretty! why does it seem like all the best magazines are the ones gowing away??? ;(
Murphy Grace likes to chase cats and could take care of your problem really quickly;)
I like it with the quilt, it adds more personality and warmth…and pee coveredness. (I made a new word)
My cat was obsessed with peeing on my daughter's bean bag. I tried cleaning it, but it still reeked of cat urine. I loved my cat, but unfortunately, he's gone now. So is the bean bag.
I love the way it looks without the quilt!! It look so pretty, you do a wonderful job. Wow factor was definitely brought to the table.
This is a beautiful and intricate makeover! Wow! I am so impressed! Don't you just love pets? They are like having pepetual toddlers!
Have you tried to have it professionally cleaned? And I have an enzyme cleaner that takes the scent out of a soiled area.
I also have a spray that acts as a repellent to my pets.
You did a very professional job with this slipcover.

Oh silly me, I thought the slipcover was made out of the quilt! I love how it looks with or without the quilt! Beautiful! And tell kitty to behave! 😉
Kat 🙂
I have always wanted a down settee like the one you have and your pictures make me want one even more! Beautiful! Oh and I also love the quilt.
first of all let me say that i love the slipcover… you are oh so talented!
second, thank you so much for your honesty – my dogs pee on things too and sometimes i feel very alone in this world!!!

Love it with, but adore it without the quilt (does that make sense??) I have a thrift stoire couch as well, my kitty scratches the pillows!! I need to slip cover it too, but the back is so nice, tufted etc. SO have to see how I make a slipcover for it 🙂
OOh, I love your blog. Just found it today via Willow Decor. Check out my kitchen reveal. The style is probably something you would like: http://homeandharmony.blogspot.com/
Bad kitty, bad. But your settee is lovely.

I've always wished I could sew, you make me want to learn even more
Damn cat!!! LOL! My hubby would have dropped kicked it to the curb! But he is not a cat fan anyway. The settee is fabulous. I love how you did the cover and left the wood exposed.

Lovely! Thanks for sharing! Really like the little "laces" around the legs!

Love that slipcover it is gorgeous!!!
Bad Bad Kitty!
Looks good…I am currently guarding 3 cats from my husband. One has a nasty habit of sharpening his claws on our formal dining room chairs. He has managed to shred three of them so far. I feel your pain.
Oh yes, this is lovely. But keep it covered! It's hard to have nice things with animals around, but we have our ways. My new wool area rug lives in plastic till I get company. My little dears love natural fibers and have gotten into my bed and made holes in the organic cotton sheets. They love it so much they kneed it to death! Love your postings–Feel better! Sherry
Holy moly – you made that slipcover? Kudos to you – it is fantastic! I have an old loveseat (that is a rocker) that needs a slipcover but I am too scared to make one. So I am not using it – sad, but true. Wish you lived here by me….

Love your settee and your slipcover. I'm so relieved to hear you got the smell out. That is really hard to do. While i dont have cats, i have 2 dogs that sometimes decide to snack on my furniture and carpets. Very maddening, but i still love them dearly and would much rather have chewed spots on furniture and no corners left on my throw rugs (and pillows) than to contemplate life without them. They still give much more than they take!
btw, thanks for your kind comment on my triple chair bench over on Gail's blog "my repurposed life". She is so great to post my projects from time to time. I'm going to email you a pic of a copycat table i did that was inspired by your chalkboard table tutorial. I really love your work.
Thanks,
Rose
I love it! Now I'm annoyed I turned down a French settee because I was worried about the ugly upholstery and not being able to reupholster it!
Yours is lovely.
Oh thanks for sharing it with us. It is as lovely as I thought it would be. I hear you on the cat pee. We had a dog for 14 years – bless his soul. And when he left us about 2 years ago now I declared a time of no pets..well seems the kids want a new doggie this summer..I was just getting used to no dog hair..arrghhh

The joys of pets!! Our cat decided to poop in the closet the other day. Wasn't that great? Yuk!!! I was not a happy camper. I love the slipcover on the couch. Love & blessings from NC!
Very pretty! Nice job on the slipcover!
I wonder what it is about down-filled cushions that attract cats and make them want to pee?? LOL. Our settee has a down-filled cushion and the first day we brought it home, my husband's cat peed on it. He only did it the one time, but I never trusted him around it again! Luckily, it all came clean. We ended up putting up a pet gate so that our cats couldn't go in the room where all my antique/vintage furniture is, even though none of the other got "into trouble". I would take the gate down when guests were over; I'm like you, I hate to cover things, but it was necessary!
You made me laugh – that so sounds like me! I love your ingenuity. I love my cats to death, but some days…
Totally love your settee, it looks just like the one on the cover of Country Home(realy wish they would bring it back it was my favorite mag.)Awesome deal too!!!!
