One thing I have thoroughly enjoyed about blogging is meeting amazing, resourceful and creative women who have started their own businesses. I have met some all-around awesome entrepreneurs. One that I had the pleasure of meeting last week was Yasmin (and her sister, Nadia) of Wuslu. We met for dinner in Frederick, MD and I was fascinated to learn their story. I’m going to share it with you one day, because it’s so inspiring. At dinner, we kicked around a bunch of ideas and one thing we came up with was Miss Mustard Seed’s pick of the month.
If you’re not familiar with Wuslu, it’s an online home decor shop that offers only one item each day. Because the item is bought in a high volume, it’s less expensive and the savings are passed on to you. Brilliant, right? So, each day they have a hand picked item up for sale and when it’s sold out, it’s sold out. Once a month, I will personally select an item that I love with all my heart and is very “Miss Mustard Seed” and it will be Wuslu’s deal of the day. I had a great time shopping for it this month and here is what I selected…

Lots of decor ideas running through my brain, but in addition I really think it would be awesome to use it as an after-school snack holder! My boys could only have the featured "snack-of-the-day" after they put away shoes/backpack/lunch pails & give me their folders. What fabulous, fun motivation that would be & it would be a great way to keep the goodies fresh, out of lil' sis hands, away from errant flies & keep possible complaints to a minimum (pretzels on a pedestal & under glass? oh, yeah.)…all in a beautiful way. Something for them, something for me, totally love it!
cannej@yahoo.com

LOVE this pedestal with the glass cloche! So fun! Let's see, if I put it in my bathroom I'd put an organic looking soap, or depending on how tall the cloche is, a stack of smaller ones. If it was in my dining room or kitchen I'd put a single lemon or artichoke… something like that. 🙂 I know you didn't ask for various options… couldn't decide! 🙂 (christiemsweet@yahoo.com)

I love Wuslu, in fact I just bought their deal of the day yesterday!!!
I love you bird's nest idea so I might do that!
BTW, I love your blog and have learned a lot from all of your blogging and furniture refinishing! I know you hear it all the time, but you are an inspiration! I see furniture at garage sales in a totally different way now. 🙂
I'd put a broken pearl necklace strand under the glass. Lovely giveaway. Thanks for the chance.
Since it is my favorite season, Autumn, I would bake some delicious cookies with Resses Pieces in them (you know, the yellow, orange, and brown pieces?!?!) and put those under the cloche. After the cookies are all gone, I'd put a small painted pumpkin (most likely a lace/doily pattern painted on it) under there with some fall leaves and maybe even some glitter. On Halloween night, a skull would probably look pretty cool at the door for the trick or treaters to see! Hahaha
You have great taste, Marian! (And I'm betting you loved Frederick as well!)
I'd start w/ a mini pumpkin…then a most fanciful ornament…then some chocolate hearts (for St. Valentine's Day)…etc.
Love it!
Darling lil thing!!
I'd have to put a cupcake underneath…
Thanks so much for the giveaway. Hugs!!

The possibilities are endless, seasonal items of course, but I have some blown glass pieces that were my mother's that could be highlighted and protected. How perfect? Thanks.
