First of all, make sure you check out my guest post over at Shabby Chic Cottage. I contributed a project for the 12 Days of Handmade Christmas in July. Hobby Lobby already had some Christmas decor out, so why can’t we on the blogs?
I do not let having guests stop me from hitting yard sales. So, Saturday morning, I dragged my in-laws and two toddlers out with me “hunting for treasures.” It was a hot day, so there weren’t many sales, but I did find some good things.
I bought an antique riding toy…
…a pair of baby wooden shoe forms…
…and silver plated creamer…
…and two antique garden tools. All for $17.00.
Not a bad haul for a hot day. It’s been a little quiet on my blog, because I had time to work on my living room sofa slipcover. My MIL and I made one last push this afternoon and finished it. It cost me about $20 and six hours to get a sofa I absolutely love. I can’t wait to show it to you.
We’re getting close to the magic number – 2000 followers. I’m having a fun time putting together “Miss Mustard Seed in a box” for my giveaway. You won’t want to miss it.
‘Til next time…

The ride on toy is actually a baby stroller. Somewhere around here I have a picture of me as a toddler sitting in one and I'll be 65 soon, so it's old. There was a long handle that I believe is missing from yours. A great find. Wouldn't a doll look cute sitting in it?
What a haul!! I cannot believe you got all of that for only $17!?! Love the riding toy and that pitcher! Really can't wait to see your sofa!

Absolutely love the antique riding toy! Your sales are definitely better than ours. I couldn't get myself up and moving this weekend.
We have several projects to get going on, and I am in the getting rid of stuff mood right now. What treasures you found, and can't wait to see the slipcover. Jackie
The riding toy is wonderful! What a find that was! Love the wooden shoe forms. My husband displays about 8 of those on a shelf in his office. He stumbled onto some at a garage sale a couple years ago. Looks like you found some fun treasures yesterday!
ACK! Serious treasure envy going on here! Sooo awesome. Can't wait to see your sofa too!!!
Wow! Those are some great finds!
I can't wait to see your slipcover. I still need to slipcover the couch in my guest house. I just never have the time.
Blessings!
Ahhh…love those sweet baby shoe forms…sold lots of them when I had my shop.
Blessings,
Linda
My mom had one of those "teeter totters" as she called them. She actually regrets selling it as now they are worth quite a bit! I remember pushing my baby dolls around in it all the time.
Oh. My. Gosh. I think I sucked all the air out of the room when I saw that ride-on toy, then I sucked my keyboard to my face when I saw the shoe forms. Wow, lady, you are good.
I can't believe it, but we have pictures of my sister riding in a stroller just like that when she was a baby. What a great find!!! You got some great treasures. Love & blessings from NC!
I am jealous. That's what my folks put us kids in.
Are you interested in selling it?
I too hit a couple of garage sales over the weekend and came up with nothing even remotely close to your finds. How do you do it?? Lucky girl!
Oh my goodness, you hit the jackpot…again! I love that you not only find treasures while you're junking, but vintage treasures!! So pretty!
You lucky girl! I can't wait to see how your sofa turned out. I just found a great deal on a similar sofa over the weekend and I'm anxious to recover it.
That little tricycle is just gorgeous! You have no idea what you would have to pay for something like that over here. I really think you gals get the better deals, or you have magical thrifting skills, that could be it too.
Can't wait to see the sofa makeover!!
(oh and could you pop over, I found a chandelier and would love your advice in how to beautify it up some more).
You find the BEST yard sales! I wanted to go out hunting this past weekend but could not force myself to walk around in the heat. I know it was even hotter where you are so my hat is off to you!
Love the antique riding toy! My mother in law has one just like it that my husband had as a child…she treasures it!
Will your box include those adorable wooden baby shoe forms??? I love those so much. Where do you find this stuff?!! i'm on the lookout now for those…
I have a picture of my father in one of those same strollers…he was born in 1931. It is one of my favorite pictures. thanks for sharing your fabulous (and thrifty) finds!
Great buys Marian! You do find some great items(do you have a radar device??)
I am drooling over that stroller and the shoe forms… they are getting so hard to find. Great haul and ONLY $17.00 for the works. What a score.
Hugs, Deb
One of my relatives had a twin stroller that was very similar to this. Yes, two of those little seats attached with a bar and bolts. It was a gift from her co-workers before her babies were born. I think that you must have some kind of homing device on your person because you find the best things! Or maybe it is because you have the eye and instincts that we lack! I can't wait to see your dream sofa finished.
how cute are those shoe forms!
Great finds! Those shoe forms will be a great conversation piece…

Great finds for the day!
Can't wait to see your sofa and slipcover.
