Gearing up!

I am working like mad at the moment to get everything ready for the Lucketts Fair at the end of August and some sales that are coming up at the shop.  In the last two days I have painted three frames, made three pillows, painted a bench, primed a dresser, table, and chair, stained an arm chair, and…I’m sure I’m missing something else in there.  It’s crazy, I tell you.  So, here are a few things I’ve finished…
I painted and antiqued this ornate frame and then filled it with a chalkboard.
I love how this finish turned out.
…and I made another blue and white feed sack pillow…
…and a Funk’s Hybrid pillow.
This is a shot of the back.  I thought of my friend, Funky Junk Donna, the entire time I worked on this.
I think this feed sack is so quirky.
On another note, I sold my “Gasthaus” sign.  A reader inquired about me making one for her, so I sold the one right off my wall.  I told you almost everything is for sale!

  1. Miss Mustard Seed, did you use your burnt umber tint to antique that frame? The grayish tone is similar to something I'm going for on another of my projects and I'd love to know what you used. Everything is awesome!

  2. Miss Mustard Seed, just a quick question, when is the Luckett's fair? When I checked the website, the dates were for 2003. I am not sure I can make it, but it sounds like so much fun, and it's a been while since I've to Luckett's for some serious antiqueing!

  3. Oh my gosh, it sounds like you are going to have so much fun at Luckett's! I am sure you will do great, but make sure you take some time to look around yourself. You've got quite a variety of items ~ I love the chalkboard especially!

  4. Good for you Marian!!! I hope that your sales turn out as good as you desire. Nothing wrong with almost everything being for sale :O)

  5. I think that Funk's feed sack pillow was talking to you!! 🙂

Where on earth are you finding all those wonderful feed sacks? I need to go shopping where you go shopping. The pillows are fabulous!

  6. Julia,
The finish I used was Valspar asphaltum glaze. It's a very dark brown, but it really reads as a grey or black. I just used it for the first time to try something new. It was easy to work with and did look good. It's just expensive!

  7. So funny that you would say everything is for sale. We were just talking about that at the shop today. Everytime I mark something not for sale, everyone wants it and I always end up selling it…..I'm bad, I know.

Sounds like you are ready for a big show, hope it's a real success.

    hugs

  8. Your pillows look great and that frame is beautiful. Such pretty detail work on the frame. Could you let us all know where the Lucket's show is and the dates, times, etc. Love & blessings from NC!

  9. Just love all your things! You are sooo talented Sister! But busy is good right? LOL Hope you stay busy and make a lot of sales.

  10. The Old Lucketts Fair is August 28-29 at Lucketts, Virginia. It's located a few miles north or Leesburg on Rt. 15 in Loudoun County. It's primarily a craft show, but they have an antique section, music, food, and activities for kids.

  11. I don't know how you get so many projects done so quickly. I guess because you are a lot younger than me. I use to do a lot more than I do now. Love those pillows and may purchase one if you have any left.

  12. Marian, you are a wild woman! Are you for hire at my house? I'd surely get my moneys worth! So everything is for sale, ha? When are you going to post an add for the kids? ha ha! I'll be first in line for that sale! If they are anything like "Mama", I'd be striking gold!
    God Bless, Teresa C.

  13. LOVE the frame! I keep doing similar projects/posts on my blog. You are so talented & I love how your projects turn out! I just did a glazed frame/memo board, and although I'm happy with it, I love the colour of your antiquing. I also did a post on my corner cabinet, and one on my dining room reveal-I swear, it's coincidental lol! Beautiful, inspirational work =)

  14. I'd like to bottle some of your energy! You are amazing! I wish I lived closer…would love to go to the fair. The pillows turned out great! I'm in the market for one if there are any left over.

  15. Wouldn't I love to be a fly on the wall at that fair!
I have a Danish blue enamel pitcher much like that one – part of a large collection that came together on trips to visit The Great Dane's family. I love that particular blue.

  16. You make me grin from ear to ear!!! Sold it right off your wall!!?? That is awesome! Love to be able to attend that fair. And that frame you worked on is fabulous! I too love the finish…perfect!
