Thanks so much for all of the wonderful feedback on my half bathroom makeover! I love how it turned out as well and now I want my other two bathrooms to look just like this one. That’s not on the project list any time soon, but a girl can dream.
I received a lot of questions, so I’m going to answer the majority of them in some follow-up posts and this is the first. Fortunately, I did take lots of process pictures, so I will hopefully be able to answer everything. The number one thing I was asked about was the wire baskets. I think those are my favorite part…other than the floor. It’s hard to beat that floor.
So, where did I get them? I purchased them off of one of my favorite vendors at Lucketts, Pete. He drove up with an entire truckload of them and I bought five right on the spot. They are actually vintage locker baskets from Pawtucket, RI. If there are any left at Lucketts, I’ll buy one to put up for a giveaway. (Maybe I’ll surrender one of mine if there aren’t any…)
I bought them initially for my office built-ins, but when I got the bead board installed, I held one up over the toilet to see how it would look hanging. It looked awesome and they’re small enough that someone won’t hit their head on it while visiting the facilities. I suppose one might if they’re really lounging, but…come on. Really?
I simply hung them on two small nails. Since they’re light, that’s all that was needed.
The other question I received several times was where I put my hand towels. In the locker baskets! The one over the toilet holds extra rolls of toilet paper and the two by the sink hold white hand towels. I’m not a fan at all of towel bars. I don’t have them in our master bath, either. I think hooks are much more practical, so I decided not to use a towel bar and just put the towels in the baskets.
More to come on the bathroom. Check out the before & after pictures if you haven’t seen them already…
