the "young at heart" Lucketts giveaway

The Lucketts Spring Market is just one week away!   I teeter between bring-it-on and give-me-just-another-week!  I’ve already started stalking the weather report and my pile of finished furniture and packed boxes is rapidly growing.

This week is about finishing the pieces (mostly upholstery) that I’ve been procrastinating on and doing some easy last-minute things like sewing pillows, glittering tiaras, making SOLD tags and tagging items I bought on my trip to Virginia.  I’ll also try to squeeze in some last minute shopping, if I can.  The truck gets packed up Thursday night and we’ll haul everything down on Thursday.  I usually wait to set up until Saturday morning, but last year we had a morning drizzle and I ran out of time.  I was still unpacking boxes when the crowds descended and I hated that.  I work so hard and have a plan in my head and I am not risking not finishing it again this year, so I’ll be setting up and taking pictures on Thursday and then make it all safe from the weather, so I only have to set things up again on Saturday, not entirely unpack.

So, as we’re all gearing up, it’s time for another giveaway!  (The Lucketts Store made these amazing gift cards for the winners of these giveaways!)

For this giveaway, we’re looking for the person attending the spring market this year who is the oldest!  I know I can speak for the girls at Lucketts, and myself of course, that we hope we’ll be junking, antiquing, picking and creating well into our “golden years”.  I see the winner of this giveaway as someone I want to be like when I grow up.

To enter, leave a comment on this blog post, telling me how old you are.  In order to win, you have to be actually attending the Lucketts Spring Market either May 17 or 18, 2014.  Entries will be accepted through Monday, May 12, 2014, at midnight PST.  A winner will be chosen and notified via e-mail.

So, what does being the oldest win you?

  1. I am only 47, so I know I won’t be old enough to win but I am making the 2+ hour trip this year to Lucketts with one of my BFFs. We can’t wait!

  2. I’m just so dang excited to be coming for my first time that I’d have a heart attack if I actually won something… Lol
I’m even dragging my husband 600 miles to do this with me. Now that girls… is something:)
I rented a uhaul since I’m going to so be in my element, and to meet you Marian will be the highlight of my trip!!!
    I’m only 44, so I don’t win

  3. I am only 45 but I am bringing my mother as her Mother’s Day present. It is both out first time and she is 67. We can’t wait even if we don’t win!

  4. My mother and I make Luckettes our Mother/Daughter Weekend. Last year, she loved it so much, she was on me in January to make reservations for coming to Luckettes again this year. I heard her tell her church lady friends that it’s our weekend thing and how she enjoys going to Luckettes Spring Fair. My mother is 69 years young and my best friend. She loves painting her furniture and enjoys shopping, decorating and hanging out with me her only daughter. I sure do love her lots!

  5. I forgot to list my mother’s name in my post. It’s Ellen Walls.

  6. At 60 I’m not the oldest but I may just be the happiest to be there. I’ll be driving from about 150 miles away to visit the spring market again. I’m so lucky to have my daughter living in leesburg so it makes the trip even better. And this year my 9 month old granddaughter will be joining us for a day of shopping. I just can’t say enough about the lovely stuff the venders bring each year. I always come home with treasurers.

  7. If I could talk my 99 year old father-in-law to make the 8 hour drive, I think he could win!
He and my husband go junkin every Saturday morning and he is normally out of the truck before my husband is!

  8. My mother has arrived up from Ft Myers to attend on Saturday with me. She loved the store when I brought her for the first time this fall and is looking forward to the Spring Market. We even have arranged for my father to go golfing…. To totally distract him from what money we spend!! She is 73 (but don’t tell her I put that out on “the world wide web”–which is what she still refers to the Internet as!!). She might not be tech savvy….but she def has decorating style!

  9. I read that you are setting up your pieces and then “making them safe” from the weather. I was wondering what you have found to be the best method. I will be a new vendor at a sale this summer and it is outside. While I will have a tent overhead, I was curious what you have done for you furniture piece to stay dry and to protect your hard work that you have put into them. Thank you so much and have fun at your sale.
