Can you help a blogger out?

Alright all of you wonderful readers out there…I need your help.  Remember those mossy green pillows I purchased at TJ Maxx a couple of weeks ago?
I used them on my living room sofa and now I want more.  In usual bargain store fashion, though, the ones that I passed by are no longer there.  If you think of it, would you check out your local TJ Maxx or Home Goods to see if there are any available? They are a cotton pillow cover with a feather insert made by Ralph Lauren Home and I think they were $19.99/each. There is a RLL monogram at the bottom right corner. They came in square and lumbar and I would like any they have…well, I only need four more, so if they have twenty, you don’t need to buy all of them.  Please send me an e-mail if you find them and I will gladly pay for them and shipping (and something for your time.)  Thanks so much ladies.  Finger’s crossed!

Onto more about pillows…to go with my freshly painted family room, I made two pillow covers out of tea towels.  I used antique European tea towels, but you can use any that are cute.

I folded the tea towel in half, exactly as I wanted it on the pillow.  I didn’t even bother sewing the cover inside-out.  I just sewed along the sides and about a quarter of the way on the bottom of each side.

This left a gap of about ten inches at the bottom to insert and remove the pillow form.  I stitched on six short grosgrain ribbons to tie the gap closed when the pillow is inside.  It can then be removed to wash the cover.

This pillow cover took about 15 minutes to make…well, that’s in Miss Mustard Seed time and I seem to be speedy.  Anyway, it’s a quick and easy way to make a cover and give a tired pillow a face lift.
I’m still painting my miles of cabinetry.  Will it ever come to an end?

  5. I think you will get your pillows! I will check today for you.
Love the way you made that cover so simple. I buy RL or Anthro or Rachel Ashwell large table napkins and just put right sides together and then add the ribbon to close!

  6. Love the tea towel pillow cover and so easy to make. I will check the T. J. Max store here in Marietta GA. Phyllis

  7. Hello from Muskoka, Ontario, Canada! I am so in awe of your talent, your design sense and your site. You are truly an inspiration to me. (www.apronrevival-anne.blogspot.com)

  8. Love the simple pillow cover! I'm a bit late "dressing" my home for summer but this would be such a quick, cute way to add some summer to the place and I already have some great vintage linens that would work! Thanks so much!

  9. I was at a TJ Max in my area (Arizona) on Saturday and they had those pillows…I almost bought the lumbar one! I will check to see if they're still there. I'm afraid you're going to end up with 100 more pillows though from all of your faithful readers 🙂

  10. i'll keep my eyes open for the pillows. the tea towel ones are perfect. oh that i could create at mustard speed.

recently discussed your fabulousness with a fellow blogger over lunch. in cae you need reminding: you're kind of a big deal.

  11. I will check TJ today – I have the same pillows in a muted red color, so I know exactly the ones you are looking for!

  12. I am going to make some pillows just like yours today. I have been sitting on some great fabric for some time now. These will be perfect. Thanks so much, you are the bomb!

  13. MMS,
Thought, why not add more of the green in a nice lattice pattern (like your family room fabric) if you cannot find the RLL. I will look at ours today for you also.

  14. I will check it out, I have seen these at mine. Will send an email if so.

Love all that you have done in your room! Looks fabulous?

  15. Can I just say that I love how your living room is coming along? It is so beautiful! A tad quirky and whimsical, so that it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland (Mostly your huge wingback French style chair, love!). I also love the way the green of your other chair compliments the green you've pulled in with the pillows. Is it staying that color? I do love it as is, though I'm sure you'll come up with something amazing if you change it!
I hope you find your pillows, I am jealous that you HAVE those stores, the great white north (North Dakota) doesn't have those stores…not in my town anyway. Good luck!

  16. I'll be glad and check tomorrow when I'm in town. I'll email you if I have any luck finding them. Love your pillow idea! Wish I could find grain bags or similar fabric to make a couple pillows. I think you'll get your pillows with so many people checking for you. Good luck!

  17. Those tea towel pillows are amazing! I love the ribbon ties. I was just finishing a pillow myself and hate hand sewing those last few inches. I'll do this next time!

  18. Just so happens that I will be having dinner tonight at a little eatery right next to Home Goods so I will go in there and see if they have them for you.

  19. Since I HAD to go to Tj Maxx and Home Goods, I looked for your pillows. Unfortunately, no luck here in Danvers, MA. I did get myself a couple of things and had some retail therapy, i.e., peace and quiet.

  20. I only like TJM for their home interior stuff & it IS awesome, but it's an hour from me. I'm sure one of the many admirers of your blog & your work will come through for ya on the pillows!

I am totally inspired by your pillow. As easy as it is to make, I'm sure I would screw mine up one way, shape or form, but I still think I may give it a whirl.

  21. I checked the Home Goods in Tampa last night and unfortunately they did not have the mossy green color. They only had pink prints.

  22. Good luck on finding your pillows. I hate it when a store runs out of a great find or it's discontinued. Maybe you could find similar material and make your own. Love the tea towel pillow. Good call on sewing it on the outside.

  23. Hello!! I found two of your pillows (I believe) at my TJ Maxx in Sterling, VA! I will happily meet you sometime next week in Lucketts when you are doing your usual stop to fill your booth. Just let me know. 🙂 This week is out due to a hectic schedule, but maybe even over the weekend?
Please note that the pillow tags read the color as 'olive', though I am pretty confident they are the same exact ones. They were $16.99 each. I can easily return if they are the wrong ones.

  24. I just stumbled upon your blog today and LOVE it, as many others have said! I love your curtains in your living room, where did you find them or the fabric? My e-mail is jannaradams@gmail.com! I do not have a T.J. Maxx within an hour of me but next time I go I will look! Good luck!

  25. I checked the south oklahoma city and norman tjm/marshall's. No luck – so sorry. But keep us posted, I am driving through Arkansas this weekend and their is a Homegoods there. I can check then if you have not found your other 2.
