Almost 15 years ago, I decided I would set out on Black Friday to see what all of the fuss was about. I love getting a good deal, but I wasn’t excited about braving the parking lots and crowds. I ended up waiting in a line wrapped around a store to buy a Playdough set for Marshall and my curiosity about the hoopla was satisfied. But now, there is no need to wait in line or even wait until Black Friday to get amazing deals. has thousands of Black Friday deals available today and you can shop them all without fighting for a parking spot, sitting in traffic, or waiting in lines.
They are offering sales of everything from toys and electronics to clothes and housewares and more. As you know, Walmart has pretty much everything. start today (November 22) at noon EST for Walmart+ members and at 3:00 pm EST for everyone else. Because there is a lot to browse, I selected a few things I thought my readers might enjoy. With just a few exceptions, these are all things I’ve owned, purchased, and/or used, so I can give a thumbs-up on them. I sorted my picks into two categories – for entertaining & hosting and for teenage boys. Of course, I love sharing about things for the home, but I also have to shop for two teenage boys (and they are hard to shop for), so I thought I would share some ideas with those who have nephews, grandkids, cousins, and other teenage boys are their Christmas gift list. All of the items I selected are just a small sample of launching today.
Walmart’s Black Friday Deals for Entertaining
Even if you’re not hosting family and friends or having holiday parties at your home, most of us have to think about entertaining and hosting to some extent. We might be making some cookies or a side dish to bring along to an event or family get-together or we’re creating special memories for our immediate family. We’re just having my parents over for Christmas, but I still plan on making the day special with delicious food and a welcoming, festive environment.
So I picked a few things for this list that I thought would either be good for entertaining or to give as hostess gifts or for friends and family who love cooking and entertaining.

I’ve never bought a cookbook from Pioneer Woman, but I’ve made many of her recipes online and they are always delicious. I think one of her cookbooks would make a great hostess gift or a gift for those who want ideas for easy and delicious family dinners. I definitely fit in that category! I have been flipping through Dinner’s Ready and I already feel inspired to step out of my weeknight culinary rut and find new recipes to make when we’re having people over.

Jeff bought me a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer over 20 years ago and it’s still a workhorse in my kitchen. Certain models are included in the sale and a mixer makes an awesome you-need-to-open-this-last kind of gift. I also own a Kitchen Aid hand mixer and it’s great for smaller mixing jobs like mashed potatoes and icing.

I have tried a few of the BHG candles over the years, but I bought the Spiced Christmas Balsam last week to test out for this post and it is just the perfect scent for Christmas. Candles are one of those things that are nice to have in a gift stash when you need a universally liked gift to bring to an occasion. BHG offers a variety of scents in pretty jars with wooden lids.

I also purchased THIS waterproof Bluetooth speaker to use by the pool during the summer and THESE hotel-style cotton towels to replenish those that were stained and worn when I cleaned out my linen closet. They really are nice towels that are super fluffy and have washed well.
I don’t own the propane heater, but I selected it because it is so well-priced and it has great reviews. If you’re entertaining outside, this would be a nice addition.

Walmart’s Black Friday Deals for Teenage Boys
As I said, teenage boys can be so hard to shop for! They seem to be uninterested and very picky simultaneously, but I found a few things that (I think) will be well-received. Since my boys don’t read my blog, I can spill the beans on two things I bought for them – I bought them each a charging cord (because they always need one) and a portable power pack (for when they travel and need a charge.)

My boys both have a pair of Airpods already and the 2nd generation Airpods are currently included in the Black Friday Deals. Marshall, especially, loves listening to music and the Airpods are like an appendage. I was a little skeptical about giving teenagers nice headphones that are so tiny, but they have both done a great job taking care of them and keeping them in the case when not in use.
I also always get them socks and new pajamas. They both love fleece pajamas and Christmas is a good time to get them a new pair or two. As I was looking for other ideas, the Gotrax Hoverboard caught my eye. It looks like it would be so much fun, especially if your kids like to skate. My last pick for teens is the Instax camera. Yes, we all have cameras on our phones, but there is something fun about an instant camera and an actual print. I think this would be a great gift for someone who has an artistic eye. Give them a camera and some film and see what they create.

What is that ironstone object, next to the candle, my curiosity has been activated.
I do love Walmart, but, like the jealous sibling, I believe, your American Walmart has more and better stuff, than up here in Canada. I will endeavour to search out some of the items you mentioned.

Me too what is that white object? For scented oil???
It looks like a vintage (or new) match strike. Wooden matches go in the center & you strike the match on the ridges on the side to light the match.
