What I did today…

I had a giveaway planned for today, but that has been postponed until next week.  I have a couple of great giveaways coming up over the next couple of weeks, so make sure you check back.  Since I didn’t have a post planned, I thought I would share what I did today…

I made a run to Hobby Lobby on Wednesday, so I was able to finish the trim on my grain sack chair.
Love it.

I also finished two more of my dining room chairs, so now I have four completed.  The cane on the back of one of the arm chairs was punched through, so I decided to upholster it.

I love the writing on this grain sack.

The cane on the other arm chair was fine, so I left it alone.  I’m OK with having one upholstered and one not.

I was also able to paint a large frame and chalk board, a gorgeous French dresser, a vanity and a curio cabinet and my husband and I worked on a building project for the September issue of Cottages and Bungalows.
This evening we took the boys to play on their favorite dirt pile and I picked some wild flowers on the hill side.
Not bad for a Friday.

  1. Sounds like a perfect way to end a busy week. (I would have been drawn to the dirt pile along with the kiddos). Great together time.

  2. Holy Moly you got a ton accomplished in 1 day! Not to brag, but for my Friday I rubbed my eyes until they hurt…dumb ol' allergies 🙁

I'm excited for your giveaway! (I think I saw a little glimpse on another blog last night).

    Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Where does one find grain sacks? Here in Toronto they go for $75-$100 each!
Love your blog, BTW; I am currently heading into the French Country look and having fun cruising the different blog sites for ideas.

  4. AHHHHH you amaze me! I would love to get that much done in one day ~
I tried to figure out what I want to do with my bathroom that I am redecorating ~
That was it !! I didn't even get a really badly needed blog post done ~

  5. I love all your photos…and find myself peering into the backgrounds to absorb the cozy lighting and beautiful colors and decor. I saw a birdhouse today just like the one on your desk at a yard sale. Now I want to go back and GET IT!! I LOVE that you don't mind having one chair different…you truly are my hero! 🙂 Nothings seems to match in my house. I try to make things work and be content, and I LOVE seeing how you make the imperfect look perfect. Super kudos to you! 🙂

  6. You inspire me each time I read your blog. You are like a celebrity in the blog world you know. I think I would be star struck if I met you in person lol. When I grow up I want to be just like you ;P

  7. You never cease to amaze me, or inspire me for that matter! I love the wild flowers. I wish we had wild flowers here in the desert, but alas, it is too hot:(

  8. Life is good isnt it? I love the writing on the chair…So fun…There was a leather chair years ago on sale at a furniture store…it had the brand on the back of the chair…I wanted that chair so bad…not because it was on sale…because I thought the branding was neat (and a sad…silly I know lol)…I wanted to use it in my Saloon room…:) Love that you all love the simple things in life…that is what makes memories…I am off to go to a AS Chalk Paint Class that I won…Ill report back on Screaming Meme and let you know how it was…I am taking my son to snap photos for me…:)

  9. You make me feel like a Bum! LOL!
ok, NOW I'm getting off this computer and DOING something!
You constantly amaze me. Not only do you get so much done, but you do it so beautifully!

  10. Hey Mariann, what color did you use on these chairs? Old White? And what wax? Thanks a bunch for all the inspiration and information. My dining room chairs are up next!

  11. Wow! It would take me 6 months to do all that. Can't wait to see the new pictures of everything. I love everything about your style!

  12. House looks so homey with all of your changes. I was looking at the corner cabs and thinking they look so much better, and I love the frenchy chairs with the natural covers mixing with the big grain sack upholstery. It has a swedish vibe to me.

  13. I have 4 chairs to re-upholster but have no idea where to start. I will need to do my research. Your chairs are absolutely gorgeous & I love your wildflowers! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  14. Hello Marian,
Liar..Liar..pants on fire! No way you did all that in one day girl!

I'm coming over to look for the giant pods hiding in your home (Invasion of the Body Snatchers).

Or you have a creative body double living with you.

I will figure it out and expose you my dear…remember I'm married to a Secret Agent

  17. Hi, can you please tell me what that rug type thing is under your dining room table, I love what I have been able to see of it. I love your house and watched your tutorial videos on slip covers. I am going to try it!

  18. Hobby Lobby gets me in trouble every time.

I love the chairs, and every time I see that floor covering my heart goes pitter patter.

I wish I had your talent for decorating.

  19. Ok seriously…I insist on seeing how you popped in a fancy upholstered back on that busted chair. Can we get a tutorial!? I have about 6 chairs with busted backs that I can't bear to part with…and I have dreamed of upholstering the portion that is "missing." Pretty please? Another fabulous Miss Mustard Seed tute???

  20. The chairs are beautiful and I like the one chair being done differently than the others..Can't wait to see how ya finished the other items you mentioned here today..Have a great weekend..Also sounds like ya had a great Friday evening..
