the day the world didn’t end

My mother in law sent me an e-mail telling me that I didn’t need to bother getting ready for Lucketts, since the world was predicted to end today.  (She was just joking, by the way.)  Well, it didn’t and I’m glad for it.  It was an amazing day.  I’m incredibly tired, so I’m just going to share pictures of my booth and I’ll spill the beans about all of it over the next week.

Thanks so much to Baby Jewels for the fondant stamp!  The cupcakes were a hit.  Also, thanks to Frog Tape for providing me with a case of tape to hand out.  I was able to give away rolls to many of my readers and they went fast!
I sold all but four pieces of furniture and most of my accessories and signs.  It was madness, but the best possible kind.  I met so many amazing people.  I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

PS – If you are the woman who bought the short dresser with the wood top, I have your wheel in my bag!  Please send me an e-mail and I can mail it to you or you can pick it up at the fair tomorrow.

  1. WOW!!! What a fantastic day!!! I'm curious to know what 4 pieces DIDN'T sell!! 🙂 I can't imagine only not selling FOUR things! I guess it will be easy hauling on the way home!! 🙂 HOORAY for you!! (and all your help. 🙂 )

  2. It all looks lovely. I think I am glad I could not attend, it would've been tough not wanting it all! But hauling it all back to Calif. would be tough! I enjoyed getting to see it anyways.

  3. I was so happy to be able to experience this day with you. I had the best time walking around and looking at all of your incredible pieces in person.

Get some rest, you deserve it.

  4. Ok, so apparently reading blogs before bed can lead to dreams of meeting Miss Mustard Seed at Lucketts. No joke, I actually dreamed that last night! Weird, huh? I guess I should be happy to have such a nice dream, especially since there is no hope of me traveling so many miles to actually go to Lucketts. 🙁
Glad you had a great day!

  5. Wow you probably wont have a thing left by the end of the fair. I'm so thrilled for you. I cant wait to hear all of the details, after you rest of course.

  6. Congratulations on a fantastic market! Your booth is so inviting no wonder you sold so much! You have a special way of making everyone (including those of us who are stuck at home) feel welcome!
    Blessings!

  7. That is great news, i bet you are exhausted! I was so inspired by you, I purchased, 2 night stands and a kitchen table that all need to be painted on Craigslist. Now I'm scared to start! Cant wait to hear all about it!

  8. Congrats! Glad it was a successful day for you! Wish I could have attended, but you're a little far from NY! Hee hee!

  10. Wow it looks like such a fun place to spend the day, love that dining room table! 🙂

It's so funny how many people are talking about the world ending. The TRUTH is that "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." ~MATTHEW 24:36. So, enjoy your weekend & live your life to the fullest, ignoring ridiculous claims about the 'end of the world' which are silly because nobody can ever predict such a day!

    Warmly,
    Karla

  11. Congrats on it being a success!!! I want that green table! Drool…. Can't wait to hear all the details!!!

  12. Everything looks so great! I can almost smell that lavender. 🙂 What a nice touch to hand out free mini cupcakes. 🙂
I wish I lived closer so I could come and shop.

Glad your afternoon was a success! Your booth looks fantastic!!!!!

  14. Everything looks so wonderful. Your eye for presentation is just perfect. I thought of you today because a friend and I did our first booth ever at a local festival. We enjoyed talking with the wonderful people who stopped to see our things. I know you must have received a ton of compliments!

  15. Congratulations on your amazing day! It turned out to be a good day for all of us huh? 🙂 Loved the pictures, thanks for sharing.

  21. Marion, It was so, so nice meeting you yesterday. I am the Deaf chick from Harrisburg who asked you about those chalk paint.

You are such a lovely soul and I would love to meet you again someday.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain to me the process of the chalk paint. Not many people do that anymore those days.

Have fun today, wish I could be there again today! 🙂

  22. Wow! You did amazing…it must have felt unbelievable to sell so much..time to stock up again!

So glad the fondant stamp worked out well. Your cupcakes looked great! Cat

  23. Wow! only 4 things left and there is still another day of the fair? I can't say that I am surprised, but still I am sure that was a very exciting success for you!
Congrats! Wish I could have been there!

  24. Lucketts was a blast! We spent 4 hours walking around and it wasn't long enough. You were blessed with beautiful weather. Both my hubby and I came home with treasure and sunburns.

It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday. Congratulations on your booth looking almost empty by the end of the day.

I'm the girl who bought the oil painting from your grandparents attic. I think it will find a home in my foyer. My Mom says "the foyer is a place of honor."

I'll send you an email in the next few weeks. Have a great second day at Lucketts!

    Congratulations!

  27. So encouraging to know that in THIS economy you were able to have such a successful sale! Congrats!

  28. I am glad the world did not end yesterday! Now, we get to have many more days, months, years of MMS blogs to savor and enjoy! Your booth looked beautiful. Glad it was so successful for you – you deserve it after all your hard work! Maureen in NJ

  29. Your booth and pieces look wonderful, and not over prices. I love your signs, my Dad was a sign man and yours would do him proud. And the pretty finishes on your furniture amazing, Love the "beakon" chair. These shows are so far away, I'm in California and work full time. However my heart was there, can't wait to see the rest of your photos, tami

  30. Hey, Marian! Your booth looked great! I loved seeing your stuff, and it was even prettier in person. It was great to meet you- I was the one who bought the sconces (that my husband actually picked out to buy- yea!), but I don't expect you'd remember me during your whirlwind day! I ended up going to On a Whim and bought 3 quarts of chalk paint. As SOON as I got home, I started painting anything that didn't move! I LOVE the product and am so excited to try some furniture. I'm going to do some painting like the cherry branches you did on your chest. When I do, I'll send a picture to you. Congrats on a fantastic day!
    Fondly, Tami

  31. I am so thrilled for your success! You are a pro at what you do. Too bad I don't live closer! I would be a regular customer, I'm sure! Congratulations on a great day!

    Ruth

  32. Oooh! I'd love to be there SOOOOO bad! Hope you had/have a great time and I bet you made a lot of people happy! 🙂
The "Gasthaus" sign is awesome just like the whole rest of your pavillon!
And the sweets with your stamp on them…just perfect! They are too beautiful to be eaten ;P

  33. So happy your day was a success. I wish I could have been there. If I had, you may not have had 4 furniture pieces left, as I love everything I see in your photos, and if one of your tables was available, it would have gone home with me. And the lavender..I would have to have at least 5 scoops. Bonnie in Central WI

  34. I have a question I keep forgetting to ask!
WHERE or how do you find all that furniture to paint? And when? Wow. Maybe you can blog about it…don't spend time emailing me…busy girl! 🙂

  35. Good for you…great booth, did you get a lot of stalkers coming up to you wanting your autograph? Hey I LOVED that Gasthaus sign I went to Germany last year and would love that, did you sell it? If not do you ship? I bet you are tired, lots of stuff there!

  36. Congratulations!! You had a gorgeous display with all of your wonderful creations. I know I sound like a broken record but I honestly don't know how you do it all. Your talents are many and I can only imagine how many smiling faces are out there with their purchases.

These doomsday people with their end of the world dates amaze me. No one knows, that's for sure! 🙂 Don't you wonder what they're saying today?

    Get some rest!
    Pat

  37. You don't even know me, but I've been following along and i am so excited for you and all that you have accomplished. Your booth looked fabulous, just wonderful, and all your painted pieces were crazy pretty. Congratulations on all your hard work and great success!

    Cindy

  38. I am so happy that your booth was a success but those of us who follow you knew that it would be you are so talented. If I could have found a sub for Sunday school I would have driven up there and snagged the dining room table and chairs…I love it..and the china cabinet. After your chalk paint post, I ordered paint and waxes, tried my hand (for the first time) on an old, old china cabinet that had seen its better days. It looks good but I sure could use a face-to-face lesson with you! Ruby

  39. Oh how I wished I lived near you because I saw so many things in your pictures that I would buy, but it's a long drive from Vancouver Island to there…I'll continue to enjoy your blog and get ideas. Thank you for many hours of enjoyment…..

  40. It was such a pleasure to meet you yesterday! Thank you for the cupcake for my daughter, she LOVED it. I can't wait to try some of the things you shared with me. (I'm the lady who's redecorating the house over my husbands deployment!) I'm so happy for all your success at the fair and hope you get some MUCH deserved rest this week!

  41. Hi, was it awesome?? Would have loved to see it! I hear it is really hot down there, tho. I remember that kind of being tired after a show, but it's a good, satisfied, happy kind of a tired, isn't it?

    Blessings from Oregon,
    Sheila

  42. Congratulatios on selling almost everything! That is something!! My question is: after debating whether or not to sell your old dining room set did it go?

  43. Girl, I've been thinking about you all weekend, I even google mapped Lucketts a few weeks ago to see if there was any way I could possibly make it. It's been such an inspiration to watch you pursue your passion and work so hard doing something you love. SO THRILLED FOR YOU!

  44. I am sooo happy for your success. You worked so hard and look at the results. Can't wait to hear all the details.

    Jill

  45. I was just wondering where you got your inspiration for the Mayfield Dairy sign? In case you don't know, there really is a Mayfield Dairy. It is based in a small town in East Tennessee where I grew up. I'm now living in Texas where Blue Bell rules so seeing your sign really brought back a lot of "sweet" memories. I do much prefer your elegant twist on the logo though. Everything was absolutely lovely. I wish I could have been there. I definitely could have found a place for that sign!
