Shopping & Grain Sacks

I’ve been working on some rewrites for my book for the past week, but I’ve also turned my attention to getting ready for the Lucketts Antique Market.  That means lots of shopping.  I’m always afraid I won’t find enough.  Given that I sold almost everything on the first day last year, I am even more stressed about it this year.  I want to have a lot of great stuff and I want to keep the prices reasonable.

This is what I managed to come home with today…

I’m really excited about some of the stuff I found.  I have a crazy idea for some antique 5 x 7 film frames I found.

Some other things in the haul are four alarm clocks, two type writers, two fans, two wooden totes, some ironstone, a display from an old church, a wooden vent from a 100 year old barn, a cool brass lamp, a hanging scale, a small card catalog, a camera, and a bunch of other things.

I love this large glass water bottle in a wooden crate.

I also hit a bunch of yard sales on Saturday.  It looked like it was was going to be a dud of a day, but then we hit an awesome yard sale where I bought this chandelier, a wooden crate, a topiary form…

…and this HUGE box of sign letters.  It was an incredible bargain for probably about 50-75 letters.  I started getting paranoid that everyone in the place wanted that box of letters and I irrationally shuffled it around with me.

I’m going to paint them, so they’re a little prettier.  The shape of them is great, though.  I’ve also recently purchased three dressers and a small wing chair.  I’ll try to get some better pictures of everything to share.  I really need to get working on some of these pieces, too!  I know the May fair will be here before I know it.  Thankfully, my parents are coming up an entire week early to help me prepare.    This is always a crazy time of year!

Several readers asked questions about where to find grain sacks and if they’re good for upholstery.  I wrote a post that should answer all of those questions a few months ago.  You can check it out HERE.

This week started with the loss of power from a storm.  It wasn’t really the storm that knocked out the power, but the wall of wind that came right before the rain.  It took out trees, limbs, power poles, and made a general mess of our yard and pool.  Jeff
