Reinforcements

As most of you know, I’ve been a busy girl lately.
Today, reinforcements arrived at the Dulles Airport and I had my guest room all ready.
My mom flew up to help for a few days in any way she can.  Don’t you just love moms?
On the drive up to PA, we stopped by Lucketts, so I could show off my space with Karen
…and we visited Lynette at Wild Rose.

It was great getting to show her what her investment has grown into.
For those of you who haven’t read the story of how my business began, you should know that my mom took me out for a day of shopping and bought everything I needed to start Mustard Seed Creations (now Mustard Seed Interiors LLC.)  She also sat in the van with my two boys while I shopped my hand painted ornaments all over Gettysburg.  She came when our store moved locations.  She worked with me at the Lucketts fair.  She checks out my stats every day to see how my blog is growing and she reads all of your comments.  She has invested herself in my business in every way possible.
So, I’m getting in bed early tonight to get some rest for all of the work I’m about to do.
You think I can get a lot done?  Just wait to see what my mom and I can knock out.
Take your vitamins and hold onto your socks

  2. Marian,
You are so blessed to have your mom. She sounds a lot like mine. If mine were still living I know she would be supporting and following my blog like crazy. She was my biggest fan.
My heart aches to have her still with me.
Promise me to cherish every single moment with your mom. Hold her hand, kiss her cheek, hug her neck, and tell her 1000 times how much you love her. 🙂
Can't wait to see all that you both get done!

  10. Marion, My my mom gave me the love for antiques and beautiful home decor. She has such great taste and I learned so much from her. I started off helping her with her antique booth and now I have taken it over. Unfortunately, she is now almost blind, but every time she comes to my shop she tells me it is beautiful. She is such an inspiration, it sounds like your mom is a great inspiration also.
    God bless you both!

  11. Just reading this post, my eyes teared up. I can only imagine the pride your mother must feel. I only have little girls right now, but I can't wait to watch them realize their potential.

I look forward to each and every post, because you are always an inspiration to me. THANK YOU and your mother (for helping you reach your potential and share it!)

Good luck this week. When my mom comes to visit we always get SO much done around my house!

  12. Your mom sounds amazing, just like mine. I'm currently closing on a house and my mom has volunteered to come down as many weekends in a row as I need to help me move, repaint the house, clean the carpets, and clean the apartment I'm leaving. I only have pictures of one room up on my blog, but the entire house needs to be repainted before I can move in. It'd be so much work to do by myself. I guess my point is that mom's are wonderful!

P.S. I absolutely love your blog and your style. I started following a couple months ago and have gone back to read all your older posts.

  13. I'm a mother myself, and yes, you do everything for your kids, and I mean everything, no matter how old they are, they will always need you. I'm so proud of you and your mom, keep up the team work. There is nothing better than seeing a mom-daughter or father-son team work together. Blessings to both of you

  14. You are so lucky to have a mom that believes in what you do and supports you in so many ways. While I love my mom dearly, she does not see my vision for the future (my dream to someday own a little shop) and worries that I would fail. But she is my best customer in my small jewelry biz!

I'm off now to read the story of how you got started. Have a wonderful weekend!

  15. What a FABULOUS mom! Its no wonder where you get all your amazingness from. 🙂 Looking forward to posts filled with your wonderful productivity!

  16. Reading your blog inspires me everyday to do what I love and create with no end. Your story helps other people create their own stories. We are lucky to have moms like that! She sounds just like mine. 🙂

  17. Oh how I envy you!!! Appreciate all that she has done for you. My Mom died 6 weeks after my son was born and, 11 years later, I still miss her every day. She would love the interior design, decor, and furniture-restoration passion that you and I share, and would have supported me every step of the way as your Mom has. Please give your sweet mom a huge hug for me.

  18. You have an amazing mom! I was wondering if I could come stay for a visit in your gorgeous guest room when she leaves? I promise to make my bed! 🙂

    Have a great weekend Marian!

  19. Wow, I am in awe and envious of your ironclad relationship with your mother. Truly something special. And we'll be watching for your next production.

  20. Moms are the best. My sisters and I are so grateful for our wonderful mother who is always there to cheer us on too. Have a great time with your mom.

  21. Marian's grandmothers, if they were still alive. would be avid followers – one of them loved decorating and redid her whole house almost every year. I am loving being here with Marian and the boys – her hubby just left for a youth event. We have a lot planned for these few days. Investing in Marian was a no-brainer – we knew she could do it. HOwever I have to admit that none of us envisioned what this has become and are just starting to realize the potential here. Hey, maybe we will get our investment back :)? What about interest??? Maybe we will waive that. Kidding aside – we have enjoyed so much the journey. Way to go Marian!!! Love Mom

  22. How BLESSED you are to have a mom that is totally there for you, & with you as you follow your dream. THAT is your gift in this life. ENJOY the ride together ladies!

  23. My Mom was the same way, just jumped in and gott'er done! I lost her to breast cancer 22 years ago, know that you are blessed to have her there for you! Enjoy your time together and "get'er done"!

  24. * Talk about BLESSINGS, Marian… you've been UBER blessed!!!!!!!!!! Your Mom is a DARLING… NO DOUBT ABOUT T*H*A*T!!! And Sweetie, you MUST have "listened" to her, at least a LITTLE, to grow up to be so talented, accomplished and nice to boot!!!

I am wishing you BOTH all the possible JOY, FUN & MEMORY MAKING two lovely ladies can have!!!

I miss MY Mom sooooooo much (she sounds like ALOT like yours!)…

Warmest wishes to you BOTH… now, "go forth n' give em' hell"!!! (Grins n' smiles!)…

  26. Thank you for sharing what a great mom you have. Where would we be without moms to come running when they sense we need their help. I am looking forward to seeing what you two do when you work together.
