More Christmas Sales

I can’t believe I forgot to show you one of my best Christmas presents!  A few years ago the diamond fell out of my engagement ring.  We looked everywhere, but never found it.  It was only a quarter of a karat, but its worth was greater to me than any monetary value put on it.  We could not afford to replace it at the time, so I’ve just been wearing 2 wedding bands.  I’ve been looking longingly at rings since I lost my rock, but we’ve never found one that I liked that we could afford.  A couple of weeks ago, we found this beauty on sale.  Hello, bling!  Come to my finger.
I also hit Target yesterday and found some great Christmas decor that was now 75% off.  I loved these glittered leaves and bought every one that was left in the store (about 15.)
I ended up paying $.74 a piece!  The maple leaf made me immediately think of my Canadian blog friends.
I had been on the hunt for a tree for my living room, but had not found one cheap enough.  I purchased this pre-lit 6 footer for $17.00!  Now, we can have our “family tree” in the family room and I can have my “fancy tree” in the living room.  I am already looking forward to next year…  Do you think May is too early to decorate for Christmas?
I wish I had more to write about today, but with traveling, family visiting, Christmas, frigid cold, snow and a play, I have not worked on much.  I have a ton of things in the hopper, though, so there will be a lot of before and afters, tutorials, tips, great finds, and projects to read about very soon!

PS – Oh, by the way…the ring?  It’s fake. The story is real, but, unfortunately, the ring is not.  We bought it at Kohls for $9.00.  It was still a good deal for a sterling silver ring and it’s a nice substitution until we can afford the real deal.

I’m linking this to Thrifty Thursdays over at Tales from Bloggeritaville.  This is a fun party, so check it out!

  1. Awesome finds. I wandered through the Christmas section several times, but never bought anything. Shoot!

Hey, I would take a 9.00 ring any day! It's cute and no one knows the difference! I didn't at all, you totally had me!

  2. Girl, THAT is my wedding ring…You had me fooled…it looks just like mine, and let's just say I wish we had the small fortune he paid for it in the bank…..I would buy new furniture: FROM POTTERY BARN! 😉

  3. Well, nobody need ever know! I think it's a beautiful ring. Sounds like you hit the jackpot at Target ~ I still haven't hit any after-Christmas sales. I guess I better get moving before it's all gone {if it ever stops snowing here}!

  4. Ooh, I eyed those glitter leaves, too, but only when they were 50% off. By the time they were 75% off, they were gone.

  5. A 6 ft. pre-lit tree for $17.00….that's a great deal…and May might be a little early to start decorating for Christmas…I would wait until at least after the 4th of July 🙂

  6. What great deals. You've encouraged me to run to Target one last time to see if they have any trees left. I really, really want an all white tree for the dining room! I love all your finds and your gift! ox

  7. I love those leaves! I even bought them (get this) at full price (gasp!). Then I went back and bought the rest at 50% off. I just had to have them! 🙂 And I lived for a couple of years in Canada, so they brought back memories for me too.

  8. I would never have known about the ring. My husband picked up mine in the diamond district in L.A.~let me just say sometimes I think it's questionable where the "original" owner may have gotten it from….could it be a 9.00 ring from Kohls too?:) No one is looking that closely anyway!

Good job on the 17.00 tree!

  9. Great finds! Your ring is gorgeous and no one will ever know. My Target was VERY picked over so no little treasures there. Great deal on the tree. Gotta' those After Christmas Sales!

  10. Yes May is way too early to decorate for Christmas… LOL… love the ring story… who would know with some of the fakes out there unless you are an expert… great deals you found… love those "Canadian" maple leaves… what ya gonna do with them all?… I see some magnificent in your near future…lol

    Hugs Deb

  11. I love my inexpensive rings more than my expensive ones. Everytime I wear an inexpensive one, I get more compliments on it than the real ones.
I love your after Christmas finds! I love the leaves! I think I may have to run over and see if there are any left near me!
    Thank you for sharing!

  12. what great deals! and i bought a similar leaf ornament from target on their 75% off sale as well! i bought the last 2! yay!

  13. Haha, I love that faux engagement ring. Bf and I have been talking about getting engaged but all the damn rings are so expensive these days – I think you have the right idea!

  14. You could have fooled me on the ring. It's pretty and looks real.

I'd say you got quite a deal of the sparkling leaves and the tree.

  15. Hey I think that is my ring! Only difference is that mine was $25 on Ebay lol. And I've had it for 8 years now nobody still knows that it's fake! It is the one I take on vacation and stuff because the real one is too precious to me to loose. I love my fake ring! I have to send you a picture haha.

  16. LOL! HA HA HA HA! Love that bit about the ring from Kohls! I am a new follower to your blog (and to blogging in general!). You are soo funny and sweet! I love reading your blog and getting ideas. I recently bought my first copy of the Flea Market Style…. where do I find your articles? Sorry for my ignorance, what name do you go by? Do you have a pen name? I would love to read your stuff!
Thanks! And THANK YOU for being an inspiration. I am a young stay at home mom to a special needs child and I am just now starting to dabble in makeovers! 🙂
