The fury that is called “me getting ready for the Lucketts Market” is ready to kick into high gear. When I’m not sleeping, eating, or hanging with my family, I will be hunting, sanding, painting, upholstering, designing and going crazy in general. Are you ready to see a lot of my finds and makeovers? I hope so, because that’s what you’re going to get for the next few weeks.
I bought two of these sweet red chairs…although I’m keeping them. I like using little chairs for photo shoots (always my excuse to keep something) and I picture these around a table in my family room.
The legs look a bit off, like a little girl sticking her hip out, but it’s very sturdy.
I’m thinking about using one next to the sink in my soon-to-be-new half bath to add a pop of color and hold some hand towels.
Now, the stuff I’m going to sell. More ironstone…I’ve been on a streak lately!
I found this vintage metal mold at Goodwill…can you believe it? Well, yeah, I’m sure you girls can believe it. You know what’s up.
…and the Ironstone streak continues with another bowl, exactly like the ones I found last week.
I also snagged this door knob set…
…a folding ruler…
…a hand painted Bavarian plate that is signed…
…and a suitcase. It’s a little dirty, but it’s a cool piece.
These are the furniture pieces I’m currently working on…
I actually drooled on something I worked on today. Not in an admiring way, but in a, “I’ve been painting for a few hours and my mouth is hanging open” kind of way. I actually thought, “I just drooled on this and I need to share it on my blog.” What have we come to?
I’m going to another auction tomorrow and I hope it will be better than the one I attended last week.
I am also getting some additional help. I received an e-mail from a very sweet woman (savior), named Pam, from Tennessee who asked if she could be a “picker” for me. Uh…yeah! Well, I’ve been flooded with pieces from Craig’s List and pictures of furniture she has in her stash. I think she just scored a French provincial dining set. Pam rocks. I love Pam.
Now, I need to go read an e-mail entitled, “Help Miss Mustard Seed! I have to convince my husband to…”
Miss Mustard Seed to the rescue!
Is it just me, or am I a little saucy tonight?

I love "furry" & "saucy" Ms. Mustard Seed!
Good Luck! I wait on pins and needles to see more of your amazing transformations.
Ahhhh! 🙂 That was my request for help and I am so thankful that it was heard, especially during your unbelievably busy time.
Sorry the email will probably disappoint in the saucy department; however, there ARE some amazing legs to oogle over in the photos!
Whew! I am tired just looking at all of the work this means for you….but happy for you too. Great projects!! It will pay off in a big way.
If you can take just a bit of a break maybe you could stop by Melissa's The Missionary Mama Blog and enter to win a $25 gift certificate to my Good Neighbors Candle Co Etsy store. Soy candles in many forms! You can find links at either of my blogs.
Wow you make me tired!! I love all of the pieces that you have to redo. And your little red chair is to perfect. I have one just like it, I snagged it out of my dads barn it use to be in my Sunday School class when I was little.
OMG you crack me up with the drooling … and admitting it! That is just one of the reasons why you rock and why I like you so much! LOL!
Frankly, I was drooling (but in the complimentary way) on all your "in the process" furniture pieces — I just know they are going to be like super models once they get the MMS treatment! I wish I had a million dollars and a big truck, I'd take a roadtrip to see you and buy up a bunch of your sassy pieces. Can't wait to see how these lovelies turn out …
I'm not a fan of reds, oranges, yellows or other bright, "hot" colors (which is odd because those used to be all my favorite colors, but as I get older, I've changed my preferences to cool, calming hues like aquas, blues, and greens), but I swear I fell madly in love with those sweet little red chairs. So darned cute!
Best to you,
Kimberly
Just wondered if you were using the chalk paint on these pieces?
I have sure been thinking about ordering some of the chalk paint.
Thank you for your blogs
Saucy is a good thing, it gets things movin! Love that little Red Chair, can't wait to see what is coming. Hang in there, and keep up on your stash of Diet Dr. Pepper!
Wow! You've got some great pieces! I was drooling over the dresser and desk!
Your red chairs are great too! I've been collecting chairs for the longest time..but I have a daughter that likes them too. I try to hide them from her but….well, they look good in her house too!
LOL! Okay I have a even more disgusting story (hopefully you're the only one who reads this post). Um sanding in my cold garage last night, you know what happens when it's cold right?? Your nose runs, well mmm-hmm, I just sanded right over it! Haha. Gross I know! Sorry to share ;). So excited to see your finished work, bring it on!!
Love the red chair! Very sassy!
You are too cute! I love all your stuff. I wish I lived closer so I could shop your stuff.
loving your saucyness tonight 😉
and the fact that you share with us when you drool on your projects. lol.
I think I started following you right before lucketts last year (and am now thinking- wow! a year already?) and I remember the craziness that ensued. I cant wait to see this years projects!!!
oh! and one more thing- I <3 that folding ruler 🙂
Love the drool addition to the piece, I feel a tutorial brewing on that one! Lol. Now you need a young man who needs community service hours to move all those new pieces you are getting from your helper. I have to buy ironstone on easy, we never find it here like that, lucky girl. I would love to buy some of yours if they don't sell at Lucketts.
Brilliant drool story – loved it. Also love the red chairs – gorgeous- So admire your work, well done you.
A xx
SAucy and spicey (and a litle drooly, too) LOL! I love all the pieces you've found and are working on. Is it must me or does that old mold look like a cantelope purse? You could be onto a whole new fad! Can't wait to see what you have in store for the furniture revamps! I need to find some good aucitons and pickingf sites around here! Have a great time and I hope to see you at Lucketts' outdoor market! ~Leena~
Looking forward to see all your transformations. I think those pieces will look amazing.
The red chairs are really nice and I love the color of them. They are sure to add a pop of color to just about any room.
I just cannot wait to see how your pieces turn out! I would not normally turn to red chairs, but I really like these for some reason .. and the kicker is, they are like a dime a dozen on CL, but something about the red just makes them pop.
Okay, on a slightly geeky note: I want you to know that your blog has gotten me through some rough days. Any mom out there knows parenthood is the hardest job (um, like EVER) and while I love my boy, sometimes being a single mom of a toddler is just overwhelming. We are currently on day #3 of his fever and pinkeye and at 2am, he's now been awake for 4 hours. Fortunately, he's zoned out on Dora right now, giving me a chance to pop in here real quick for a little "me" moment to re-energize myself. Thanks for the laughs and inspiration:)
Ha ha – i have a red chair just like yours – which we use in the bathroom – also was an auction find.
I just finished and posted on a desk that is almost like yours. Body and legs the same, just a few different details. I keep seeing relatives of this desk popping up all over blogland. Anxious to see what you do with yours.
Cindy
I love those little red chairs. I always have to have a pop of red somewhere. Carry on, Miss Mustard Seed!
I love everything! I have a question though. How in the world do you haul all that big stuff and then get it into the basement for refurbishing and then out again? I'm sure it would be too hard for just you and your hubby. Do you hire kids from your husband's youth group to help you? That would be the one area that would make a business like this too difficult for me!
Okay, was it the paint fumes or perhaps some vino? – ha! You've got some GREAT pieces to paint – can't wait to see how you transform them!
Does your picker live in Tn. or is she just from Tn.?If she live there how will you get your merchandise? Can't wait to see the process and the outcome of all your great treasures.
Good morning! Keep that sauciness coming!!! LOVE it!
Have a pretty day!
Kristin
I love the piece right after the suitcase. I have that exact same one! Mine was originally red, and I stripped it. I can't wait to see what you do with it. Maybe I'll do the same!
Love the sauciness! Can't wait to see all the finished pieces! Wish I lived closer so I could come to Lucketts!
Oh and I finally finished my first slip so I am anxiously awaiting Friday's party! 🙂
Love the furniture you're working on and the saucy is great for entertainment!
Ha ha ha!! Saucy and drooling…what a picture!! You've scored some wonderful goodies…wish I lived closer…love love LOVE that desk!! Can hardly wait to see your magic on your new finds!!
Hello Marian,
I like a little sauce now and then 😉
I have to tell you…I think of you everytime I am at my Salvation Macy's.
I walk around thinking.."OMGosh, Marian would love this or Wow, Marian would flip over this!"
My husband has heard me mutter your name to myself a few times. He thinks I have an imaginary friend
;->

PS..just finished my first slipcover using real home decor fabric. I will be revealing it this friday…it's freaking SWEET!!!!
I mean …it is very lovely. (must remain ladylike)
Oh Marian..you're a hoot. I don't know how you even have time to blog right now! (But so glad you do think of us! Even though it's precipitated by drooling.) 😉
I don't know how any of you get finds at GW. Ours participates in highway robbery. I won't even donate anything to them now!
I love the red chairs! My head spins at how much you get done! 🙂
Those red chairs are darling. Isn't red a divine pop of color, just like a bright red geranium pops color in your garden. I would say that Pam is a smart lady. A picker for Miss Mustard Seed! She'll be the envy of all her friends 🙂
love seeing all your finds! i'd love to go to an auction with you!! have fun! susan
Love the drool bit! I am drooling over the thought of you fixing up the pretty french desk. Make her pretty!!
GAH! Take me shopping with you! You always have the BEST finds! I'll be there in 6 hours , give or take a few. Get ready 🙂 haha!
I have that same little desk! I need to do something with it and I can't wait to see what you do with yours!
My desk came from a home my grandparent's bought (fully furnished) in the 1940s. We also have the matching twin 4 poster beds (2 of them), bedside table, bench (for the desk), and dresser. 🙂
I can't wait to see what you are going to do with the desk. My daughter has the same desk with other matching furniture pieces that I want to paint. I will have to try and copy you! 🙂 You do such good work. I love your blog!
I have that same desk! I can't wait to see what you do with yours!!
Love those chairs!!!
I like it saucy! I feel so excited for your upcoming Luckett's Fair and love that you keep posting about it. Plus, it was nice to see a little bit of your workspace. I have always wondered where you work on everything . . . any chance you would consider posting about your studio space?!
Keep it up, you are almost there and doing a great job!
Good grief, I love this blog!!
you're adorable as ever is what you are.
i love the red chairs and i have a question about chairs..
i have many old dining chairs that need to be painted. they seem too gunky in some spots and was wondering what to clean them with to make my paint finish adhere and look nicer?
Funny enough, I was looking at an upcoming auction's pics and was saddened that you were so far away(well, far enough away anyhow). There is an exceptional auction coming up and the sellers(clients of mine) have oodles and oodles of great pieces that you would love. It is funny how you can see something and wonder "What would Marian do?" Maybe we all need WWMD bracelets? I am wondering if the answer is currently drool?LOL! Love your red chairs!
Marian—Love how you keep it real! You are one cool lady and love seeing everything you do. I have recalled you calling yourself competitive. However, I am seeing a lady who is going after it and doing what she loves!
Great combination.

You are saucy indeed, but we love saucy. It's so much fun to see what you're up to, Marian. I hope your preparations all go swimmingly, even if you do drool on a few pieces. Honestly, Luckett's should pay you BIG BUCKS–I'm guessing you're the very best advertisement they've ever had!
Great finds indeed! I'm lovin' the floor tile in your soon-to-be half bath. Do you remember where you found it? I looked at Lowe's today, but nothing compares…
P.S. – 'Saucy' is great!
Yes. I definitely hear sauciness! Get some sleep, girl!
Wish I could come up there and help you. 🙂
I do not know how you accomplish all that you do! You have a house, kids, a husband . . . and you blog every single day! I have always thought of myself as someone who can get a lot done, but YOU, are unbelievable! I just keep telling myself, "She's young. She's really young!"
Keep up the great inspiration. I love checking you posts every day!
Pam from Tennessee? I'll bet she is flooded right now. My backyard in Tn. is flooded…my front in Ky isn't…or is it the other way around…? I can't wait to see the tall cabinet after you've worked your magic! Miss Magic Mustard Seed hehee 😛
Love it all show us more. Thanks Lynda
LOL! when I read about Pam being a picker for you I had to chuckle a little. You see…I live in TN now but I am originally from Massachusetts! Huge difference! Everytime hubby and I go out to Goodwill, flea markets etc., we marvel at how much people up north, New England area, would go crazy at the insanely low prices and treasures that people get rid of here! I am a prim doll creator and antique/junk collector so my house is jam packed with "stuff"! It really would be beneficial for you to rent a uhaul or similar and come down here! If you want "areas" to check out feel free to contact me! Have a great weekend, Michelle email…..blancomt@aol.com
I wish someone would offer to be MY picker!!! I'll see you at Lucketts, where I'll be selling too! It's my first time selling there, and I'll have some bargains a-waiting you if you want them. It's my de-stash sale! XOX
