a peek at the new mustard seed interiors office

My office has been getting an overhaul over the past week.  I finally got sick of the wall-to-wall wire racks, the door to nowhere and the mess.  Oh, the mess.  So, I’ve been purging and cleaning and painting and working my rear off to make my office/craft room a place that’s inspiring and practical for my work.  Here’s a peek at one of the cabinets…

We’re getting there.  I can’t wait to share it all, but there is still a lot to do.
If you haven’t yet, don’t forget to enter the Alice and Jay Giveaway.  It’s a good one.
After writing about things that are so small and trivial I need to share one last thing.  My heart goes out to Anna from An Inch of Gray.  I’ve “known” her through her blog and comments for the two years I’ve been blogging.  Yesterday, she lost her precious son, Jack, in a flash flood.  Please pray for her and her family as they cope with this tragedy.

  1. Praying that God blankets this dear family with His grace, love, and comfort during their time of loss. He is truly our only Shelter in the time of storm.

  2. Can't wait to see your finished office! I can't even imagine what your friend is going through.
Her family will be in my prayers. What a awful thing for a family to go through.

  3. Your office is coming along so nicely. I'd love a closer look at your books. They are calling my name. And the jar of glitter is wonderful. The use of the stoneware water pitchers is a great idea for storing your paint brushes and what-nots.
After seeing so much beauty, my heart broke after hearing about your friend losing her boy. I have a son about that age and I know that I would just be heart broken! I'll be saying a prayer for her, and her family.

  4. I've been one of those random blog stalkers for awhile now and just want to say that I'll be praying for their family. I don't know personally what they're going through, but I ache for them. Thank you for making me aware of it.

Your home, shop and blog always inspire and motivate me! Thanks for taking the time to post.

  5. I am so, so sorry to hear about this tragedy. I will pray for this family as they cope with the loss of a child. No mother and father should have to suffer so. May Jack rest in the arms of our Lord, and sleep in peace.

  6. It is always inspiring to me when others get a clean-up/declutter effort going on. It makes me want to follow suit- exactly what I need to do!

As for your friend, Anna, I cannot imagine the pain she is going through right now. I popped over to her blog and saw that she had just posted pictures of her kids going back to school and as I looked at the boy I assumed to be Jack, I found tears running down my face. To see him so alive and vibrant the beginning of this week and to think that he has gone home to God is almost more than anyone can bear. I will be praying for them…all of them. Thank you for putting this out there because I do believe there is healing power in prayers~ xo Diana

  7. What a tragedy. I will pray for the family. I too believe in the healing power of prayer and will add their family to our church prayer requests.

I love the classic wire baskets in your office. Cheers!

  8. This beautiful family is in my prayers and will continue to be for a very long time. I have two friends that have gone through the worst nightmare any of us can imagine. Life is tough. What a beautiful young boy. I'm so sorry.

  9. OMGosh, I just read about Anna's son! I just autmatically clicked on the link and saw her last post where Jack had just started 7th grade. I'm tearing up. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through. My prayers are with them.

  10. Jack's death was tragic. His sweet face has been in our newspapers and on our local news and breaks my heart each time I see him. The flash floods took several lives in our area. Very sad.

Your office is looking good. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

  11. My prayers go out to Anna and her family. I know how hard losing a precious gift from God is for them now and will always be. I pray they will find peace and remember how very much they where loved by Jack.

  12. Being on the West Coast, I was praying all throughout the recent storm that you all would make it through safely. I heard your friend's tragedy on the evening news and my heart just broke. My son is Jack's age. What a horrible thing to happen to such a beautiful family. So sorry for their terrible loss. My prayers are with them.

  13. oh my goodness sorry i didn't see the part of your blog talking about your friend losing her son before mentioning no mention of your assistant helping you with your organization… gosh… i am so sorry and please know that i am praying for jack's family to get thru the horrific days ahead. xo patty

  14. Office looking great.
My heart goes out to Anna and her family. My family all prays for them to get through this terrible time. My God bless them all, thank you for sharing.

  15. My heart weeps…Words are never adequate to express the feelings brought forth at the news of tragedy, especially the loss of a child. It is hoped that the love of those around will help the family travel through this dark valley and emerge once again in the light…Corey "58 Vintage Faire"

  16. What a tragic thing to have happen to your friend. My heart and prayers go out to them.

But on a lighter note, I know I can't wait to see how the office has been transformed when you're all done. It's sure to be a delight! I have purchased several smaller gray and blue crocks that sit on a lazy susan to store my crafting utensils in. They're all different styles, but similar in color. I managed to find them at garage sales in the one summer. Occasionally I get lucky like that. ;^)

  17. I'm loving what you've done so far in your office. That's a great cabinet. Thank you for letting us know about Anna's son. Although we may not know her in person, we still hurt for her and her family… such a tragedy…

  18. Oh Marian, what a tragedy. Tears are streaming down my face as I look at Jack's sweet face, thinking of my own son, M. My prayers are with them all that they can find a way out of their sorrow one day.

  19. I saw a photo of a lovely Christmas Tree skirt with your logo on the photo. The skirt was a mass of ruffles and seemed to be a creamy color. Do you sell this item, and if so, what is the price and how long to ship to Utah?
