recent instagram saves | inspiration

As I shared in my February 2022 Favorites post earlier this week, a favorite thing has been quieting my Instagram feed and not letting it be such an automatic part of my day.  I know so many others can relate to navigating the ever-changing landscape of the online world.  How can we be involved in the online community, connect, find inspiration, use those platforms to share our work, and somehow separate the negative things that come along with the good?  And I don’t have the answer.  I’m trying to figure it out myself and there really isn’t a map.

But, there is one thing I do know.  It feels good to find little gems, things that inspire, and share them with others.  So, today, I am going to share a few of my recent saves on Instagram in the hopes that you’ll find something that delights you as well.

I love the cabinet and bench details in this kitchen.  I’m not sure how practical the ladder is in front of a cabinet, but I imagine it can be lifted off the rail and moved around the room to reach other shelves and cabinets.  And, ladders on a rail definitely make for a good picture.  Beautiful homes really come down to the details and this space nails it.

Are you following Sweet Shady Lane and the move into her new home Little Oak?  I love Heather’s style and I can’t wait to see it come to life in this adorable home with amazing bones to work with.  This picture of the “green room” makes me want to paint a room glossy green.  One day, I just might.

I’ve made some chunky farmhouse-style crochet dishcloths (you can find the pattern HERE), but I love the simplicity of this knitted design by Steffer Knits.  I believe she sells these dishcloths, but they look like they’d be easy to make if you’re a knitter.

I have enjoyed following various people who are participating in the #100dayproject and Linda’s work has definitely caught my eye!  I’ve wanted to do more with stitching and her feed provides so much inspiration for creative, artistic stitching.

I absolutely love that someone designed their kitchen around this old wood piece of furniture.  They didn’t paint it or try to make it look new, but just let it be what it is and it looks stunning.  It’s a brilliant way to break up white cabinetry and add some warmth and character.

Do you know what these are?  They are embroidery pattern rollers!  You ink them up and roll them along a piece of linen to provide a pattern for embroidering.  I actually ordered a set and a roller because there are so many possibilities!  They’d also look great framed in a shadow box.

This is pretty much my dream greenhouse.  I know from following Harriet for a while that she loves this greenhouse and has been willing to put up with broken panes from storms and other maintenance.  I don’t know if I’ll ever have a greenhouse, but if I do, I hope it would have this same beautiful feel.

This watercolor by Rochard Piksley caught my eye.  I love how it’s loose and splashy, but still conveys a clear feeling of mood and place.  I have and it’s excellent.  I enjoy continuing to follow his work on Instagram.

  1. Oh goodness, that greenhouse is so off brand for you! Just goes to show you’re still a mystery. It is a beautiful green house, absolutely. I just envision something a little more white and symmetrical.
That cabinet is the best. I’d love a kitchen like that.

  2. Love this post. I, too, love that cabinet. I have for years wanted to turn an old buffet type piece of furniture into a bathroom vanity. May never happen, but I do enjoy the dream. So many fun new to me folks listed that I will have to look up. I so enjoy following you Miss Mustard Seed!! I also love that you are in Minnesota, like me.

  3. Thanks for these. I mainly follow farms and gardening folks because that’s my game but I love old houses too. Yes, that green house is stunning. A couple of my favorites are #wreathroom ,#Fullbellyfarm and #boxwoodavenue

  4. the kitchen cabinet is just beautiful, i to would love to have that in my kitchen or bathroom.
would love to have that green house, love it. Sweet shady lane i follow to love all,
that wall is beautiful with the fireplace but i would have to go with a different color, not a
green person myself. Love to look at all the post of house’s and decor, to find inspiration for my
    own house.

    1. As much as I like your posts by email, I do not follow you on Instagram. So, when I open the post only to find that I can oy see the images if I open in Instagram, I am very disappointed. Especially since that is the focus of the post. Hopefully, you will find a solution for those of us that don’t use social media except to follow our grandkids.

The cabinet shown in the email is beautiful!
      Take care, toni

      1. Oh, that’s interesting. You should be able to see the photos in the post, but you’re not able to?

  5. I love Architecture and I found Pearlworks, they make the most beautiful elements for homes. They are pricey but I love to look.

  6. Thank you so much for sharing the Instagram posts. They are all so inspirational. We do not have Instagram, so really appreciate seeing these.

  7. I am not on Instagram but I could see all the lovely images. Thanks for sharing..

I saw an image of a plant and antique filled conservatory and have longed for one ever since.

  8. Thank you for sharing these instagram posts. It makes me want to reopen my instagram account. I think I was following the wrong people. lol I never saw cool things like these.
