A Good Day

I’ve received all kinds of great news over the last few days.  I’ve won two giveaways (I’ll blog about those later) and I just learned that I won last week’s So You Think You Can Decorate competition.  To see my “white” entry, click here.  The last couple of weeks, I’ve been 6th or 7th, so it was a nice boost to win.  I really loved my entry and I’m glad others loved it as well.  Thanks for all who voted.

I hit some yard sales this morning with my mom, but didn’t find anything super exciting.  Mostly toys for my boys to keep at Oma and Opa’s house for when we visit.  I did not come home totally empty-handed, though.  Here’s what I found…

a pair of white ceramic birds for $2.00
a pressed sap bucket for $.50
a blue and white transferware plate for $.50
a three tiered serving piece for $2.00
a small footed bowl for $4.00
this awesome Target lamp from Goodwill for $12.00
It was missing a piece, so the neck was dangling when I bought it.  It just needed a nut and it was fixed.  I think it only adds to the industrial look of the lamp, so I don’t mind.
…and I got a brand new Liz Claiborne purse for $10 also from Goodwill.  I’m always made fun of for my black leather purses, especially since my antiques and hand painted pieces are sold in an accessory store.  I’ve been told numerous times that I need a “fun” purse.
I think electric blue leather is more fun than black leather.  I’m trying, here, people.
Ha!  I just saw on the SYTYCD page that I won a really fun purse as well!  So funny.  The “powers that be” knew I needed a cute purse.

You found some cool stuff….great prices too.
I carry a black purse pretty much year round. I'm just too lazy to switch things from one purse to another.

  3. Firstly, congrats my friend!! A well deserved win to a great artist!

And I'm so with you on the black leather purse thing. I've had mine for YEARS. So boring but I'm so not much of a purse person. Yet. 🙂

Fab finds! Love how you stage them to show us. You make me want an electric blue purse!

  4. So happy you wond the challenge this week – well deserved. seeing all your great finds makes me look forward to yard sale season here – still a bit too cold.

  5. Hi! I'm so glad you won the challenge…I second; it is so well deserved! I think you did really well with your finds, while shopping with your mom. Our sales are few and far between because of the weather. Before you know it, though, the excitement should begin! My husband-to-be has an antique shop (you can see it in my new blog) where things can find us…that's how we do a lot of surviving in winter.

    Have a wonderful weekend, Karen

  12. OH Miss Mustard Seed! Congratulations! Well deserved!

Love your finds from yesterday! The lamp – YES! The three tiered server!! Woohoo!

I carry boring brown bags. And have a pile of colorful ones…that sit in the closet. (scratching my tilted head)

I'm hopping over to SYTYCD to see what you won!!

  13. I LOVE your finds … especially the sap bucket. I bought one of these many moons ago and it's beautiful, too…all dented and chipped and delicious. Have it hung in our bedroom – as is. Problem is, I've never been totally happy with it. It seems like it "needs" something but can't quite put my fingers on what those needs are. Suggestions?
