Today was a good day.  I had my foot x-rayed (after dropping two sheets of bead board on it last Friday) and it’s badly bruise, but not broken.  Yay!  I was having nightmares of a paint-splattered cast.  I bought a great French chair off Craig’s List.  And, I turned thirty-three today.  My husband did a grand job with it, too.  He bought me a spa day and some gift cards, so I can shop.  My boys signed cards for me and sang the cutest version of “Happy Birthday” ever.  I had to bake my own cake, because none of my boys can bake.  I made a Texas Sheet Cake, like my mom used to make.  I had no idea there’s half a box of butter in that cake.  AND Crisco.  Oh well.  It’s once a year.

I also got the weekend totals for my Lucketts sales and…well…let’s just say I have A LOT of restocking to do!  Here are some things I found yesterday that are going to fill the void in my pavilion…

An awesome baker’s box…  (Don’t you just love the warm wood and typography?)

…a wooden theatre seat…

…a slightly rusty, but still very cool vintage fan…

…an this bright green scale.

I found a bunch of other cool things as well that are still boxed up.  I’ll be sharing them soon and restocking on Thursday or Saturday this week.  Other pieces I finished are a secretary, night stand and a French bakery sign.
I did find some really awesome (and super cheap) benches yesterday as well, but they were already set aside for someone else.  I wanted to talk to the people who set them aside and express my love for them; maybe cry and tell them my birthday was the next day, but I figured that would be pretty pathetic.  Some things are just not meant to be.
I came home, though, to a great CL French chair that I quickly claimed and someone from our church gave me a caned-back French day bed.  Both of those made up for the loss of the benches and I’m a happy girl.

It makes me think maybe my dream can come true… And yes, what a great birthday you had! And thanks for being such an inspiration to all of us DIYers out there. You are amazing.

  24. Happy Birthday to you…Happy Birthday to you…
(imagine me singing off-key here). Sorry to be a day late!
So glad the foot wasn't broken even though I'm sure it felt like it was.

  25. Happy Birthday and hope your foot is feeling better soon. It is really hard to have an injury when you have a lot to do. I am a florist that works alone and a couple of years ago I fell on ice and broke the ribs in my back 2 days before valentines. I wrapped my self tightly with a scarf and made it thru Valentines and then went to the doctor the next day. I love that old box. I have a feeling that will not last long in your shop. ~~Sherry~~

  26. Happy Birthday Marion!! Ahhh to be 33 again… I wish. I was planning on telling you my leg story and how I related to the pain that makes you gasp and almost feel like blacking out… I was lifting a TV up onto a shelf over my head.. one of those old cube TV's with the vcr attached… I lost my balance and it fell onto my lower leg above my ankle…I knew it wasn't broken but it was very bad… very bad. I could hardly breathe… and it's still painful 5 months later. I'm starting to wonder how long bad brusing takes to heal?? I so relate to your story. You have no idea!!

  27. So glad you don't have a broken foot…but still must be painful!
Sound like you had a great BIRTHDAY & a successful shopping trip!
p.s. I can't wait to get my Flea Market Style Mag & see all the beautiful pictures!
I love hearing how your store emptyed out enough to send you shopping!

  28. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I absolutely love your blog! I've lurked for quite a while now but your post pulled me out of my shell! Why? Because I really, really want to know if you plan on refinishing the French day bed at all?! You see, I just picked up a twin bed complete with a double caned headboard and footboard and side rails. I plan on cleaning it up and repainting it for my little girl. I know it's going to look fabulous when it's done, but I'd L.O.V.E. some inspiration and see what you'd do with one of these beauties!! 😀 Pretty please?!

  29. My husband and I are getting ready for our annual Spring Break in Leesburg next weekend – my sister and her family live 5 miles from Luckett's and it's always a stop(at least twice!) for us! I am looking forward to seeing what else you have in there!!! Happy birthday to you!

  30. Happy Birthday! So happy to hear that your foot is not broken. Congratulations on your successful sales. I cannot wait to see what you do with the caned-back French day bed.

    ~ Tracy

  31. Happy Belated Birthday! Seems this is going to be a banner year for you and I'm happy you're willing to share that ride with your readers.

    Best wishes and much success!

  32. I have a green scale very similar to that, but mine has a lot more rust on it. I think Donna would love it LOL! It's sitting in my kitchen. I haven't decided if I should leave it as is or do something to it. So for now, it still sits 🙂

  33. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I know you are beyond thrilled on this birthday. having your own space at Luckett's after dreaming about it so long.
You have some great finds there. I really love that theatre seat.

  34. "…a slightly rusty, but still very cool vintage fan…"

you mean it's cool BECAUSE it's rusty! i love it =)

Happy Birthday! mine is in just a couple days as well

  35. Happy, Happy Birthday to you! So happy to hear that your foot is not broken and that your are having a wonderful birthday.
Isn't funny when something you want SO BADLY is unobtainable(the benches), then you turn around and all of a sudden something better turns up. YAY! 🙂

    Have a Blessed Day!

  36. Happy Belated Birthday from Texas!

No worries about the butter in the cake…you'll work it of; promise! and your worth it!

But you might begin saying awesome things like; "ya'll" or "I'm fix'n to" 🙂

    love the green scale…swooning!

  37. Glad to hear that your foot will be ok – I once dropped a rotary cutter on mine 😉 It happens!

You know what I'm thinkin' – that "Dutch Boy Baker Incorporated" would be cute reproduced for a kitchen wall sign…I may just have to try that…thanks for the inspiration…

  38. Well Happy Belated Birthday!
Glad you did not "break-a-leg" or should I say foot!
I hope you had a wonderful day.
    smiles, alice
