Sailrite Sewing Machine Giveaway

I have a really, really awesome giveaway today…just so you know.

But, let me start from the beginning.  A couple of years ago, I was upholstering a channel back chair and I found the end of my rope with my $150 run-of-the-mill sewing machine.  Don’t get me wrong.  That inexpensive machine has served me so well (and it still does), but I was just asking too much of it and it was starting to choke on 6 to 8 layers of hemp grain sack fabric.  Understandably.  So, I started shopping for a proper machine for upholstery.

If you’ve ever looked around for one of those, you know that it’s pretty overwhelming.  Most of the upholstery machines I came across were over $1000 and were HUGE!  It would definitely not be mobile or easy to camouflage in a room, which was important to me, since it would be in my house and I often worked on sewing projects in the dining room.

I came across Sailrite Ultrafeed Portable sewing machines as I was searching and I was immediately drawn to the fact that they weren’t huge and they were portable.  I read up on reviews and also learned that Sailrite has great video tutorials, support and customer service (which I have taken advantage of), so I felt a bit easier about the investment.  It was around $600 for the machine I chose (the Ultrafeed LS-1 Basic.)

I’ve used that upholstery machine ever since, for all of my heavy-duty sewing – slipcovers, upholstery, pillows, curtains…

It has been an amazing machine to work on.  It goes through pleats, ruffles and multiple layers without a problem.  It’s a bit more complicated to thread than my other machine, so that’s taken a bit of getting used to, but it comes with an instruction book that I keep handy in case I forget which way the thread needs to go.

Now, I bought my machine, but since then, Sailrite expressed an interest in working with me and they asked if I thought my readers would be interested in winning one of their machines in a giveaway.  Um.  Heck yes they would!  (I answered for you, if that’s okay.)

So, they are offering up the Sailrite Ultrafeed LS-1 Plus, a $799.00 value.

LS1-Ultrafeed_MMS

This is a huge prize, so I know you’ll want to enter.  Here’s how…

1.) Just leave a comment on this post.  Make sure you enter your e-mail address, so we can notify you if you’re the winner.

2.) Visit the new Sailrite Home Decor Fabric page, browse around and leave a comment here letting me know a favorite print you would like to work with, hopefully with your new Sailrite!  (They have some really beautiful fabrics.  Here are a few I like…)

3.) Sign up to receive their new 2015 Home Catalog HERE and leave one last comment letting me know you’ve done so.  The catalog has over 200 pages of all of the their home decor fabrics and notions.

That’s three chances to win.

The giveaway will close Thursday, April 23, 2015, at midnight PST and a winner will be randomly chosen and announced by Monday, April 27, 2015.  You must be over the age of 18 and in the US to be eligible to win.

Good luck, everyone.  This really is a wonderful sewing machine for upholstery and other heavy duty sewing, so I hope it goes to someone ready to put it to good use!

Disclosure: I was so excited about offering one of these machines to my readers that I offered to host this giveaway for free.  Sailrite has recently become a sidebar sponsor of my blog, but I bought a sewing machine from them and wrote a review long before that relationship was established.  All opinions and words are my own.

Before I sign off for the night, here is a preview of a couple of pieces I worked on in the studio today…

I have been enjoying your blog for a few months now and this is my first time commenting. My beautiful sister-in-law gave me your book as a birthday gift this year and I was hooked. You are able to accomplish so much in a day it is awe inspiring! I live in an antique farmhouse in Maine that is in a constant state of renovation or repair. My current project is making drapes for my bedroom and living room (with help from your tutorial) but my 30 year old Viking just isn’t cutting it. Sigh, I really need a new machine! Even if I don’t win the Sailrite, I will be checking them out and saving up. Thanks much for your encouragement and inspiration!

  146. Does it count that I downloaded the catalog because I couldn’t wait for mail delivery? I’ve gone through about 1/3 of the catalog already this morning, and will finish when I get back from walking the dog…who has been not-so-patiently-waiting (with her back legs crossed) while I read through just-one-last-how-to… BTW, lovely catalog with or without the giveaway!

  147. I would love to enter this contest and win this sewing machine. I love the bird friends fabrisc and the blue bell! Hope I win

  148. I’ve been using a standard machine for heavy-duty fabrics and would love to win one of these amazing machines!

  149. My husband farms and I always have multiple layers of jean and duck cloth material to repair. He is very rough on clothing to say the least..My utility machine just doesn’t do the trick..but is it worth spending 600.00 to repair 30 dollar jeans…Hmmmm. I love many of the fabrics, how can I choose one…but the Adelaide Platinum. was just very special…have a lovely week. MM

  150. Pinned their fabric to my Pinterest board for sources. So many pretty ones, but my favorite is the PKaufmann line, Snow Leopard in the Breeze color way.

  151. I just ordered the Sailrite catalog – wow, such beautiful fabrics. My favorite is the Williamsburg Lightfoot Garden Sepia.

  152. I have signed up for the catalogs and have used Sailrite tutorials for past projects. They are great.

  153. Love the P/Kaufmann Adelaide Oasis Fabric, it would be perfect for this little sitting chair I have at home waiting for a face lift:)
    mickey

  154. I am so excited about this giveaway! I would love to own a Sailrite machine! I especially love that it is portable. I have read about this machine on sewing forums and from your blog and would be so thrilled to win!

    Thank you!
    Rose

  155. I would love one of these machines. I’m re-doing our master bedroom and my machine is groaning with every stitch!

  156. Ok…I love so many fabrics on their site…but choose Covington’s Cecita because it is a fresh new take on timeless damask.I love the cheerful colorways!

  157. I would love to have this beauty of a sewing machine for all of those “heavier” projects that my regular machine can’t handle! I love seeing MMS’s beautiful upholstering masterpieces!

  158. Third and final!
I signed up for their catalog. They have very competitive pricing!

  159. I’ve signed up for the catalog and love the Williamsburg Lamerie Lattice Sepia fabric. My poor sewing machine will thank you if it doesn’t have to do any more of my upholstery projects–especially when working with ultrasuede. I have used the Sailrite youtube videos when I get stuck on a certain part of my projects. Thank you, Sailrite!

  160. I have wanted a commercial sewing machine for years! Sewing is a passion of mine, but without a heavy duty machine, many projects are not feasible. I would be so thrilled to win this machine! The fact that Miss Mustard Seed has endorsed this product gives me the confidence to consider purchasing one, even if I don’t win.

I love the P Kaufmann Quiet Refuge Robins Egg fabric! What a pretty way to usher in spring! Pretty pillows or perhaps a bed coverlet would be so pretty!

I am excited to have signed up for the new catalog. Fabric to me is like candy is to a child!

  161. I love so many of them… but think this one is particularly fun: Waverly 676770 Tennyson Harvest

  162. I enjoy your posts every day. I also really like the trends towards greens lately, as it is my favorite color. You are showing me how to use them ‘in your style’. Thanks for the inspiration. I have some upholstry projects just waiting for the Sailrite machine. Thank you.

  163. I would love to win this commercial grade sewing machine! Sewing is my passion, and although I have a sewing machine, like Miss Mustard Seed, it can only handle so many types of projects. Knowing that she has endorsed this particular machine gives me confidence to purchase one if I don’t win the giveaway.

I love the P Kaufmann “Quiet Refuge Robins Egg” fabric. How pretty it would be made up in a coverlet and shams for my guest room, or perhaps headboard cover.

I have signed up for the catalog. Receiving a catalog packed with fabric choices is like candy for a child!

Thank you Miss Mustard Seed for offering this giveaway!

  164. I love Covingtons Cecita! It is a fresh take on a traditional damask with beautiful happy colors!

  165. Ok…I signed up to receive their catalog…cant wait! Their prices are very competitive!

  166. I would love to win the Sailrite machine! I have read about this machine on your blog and sewing forums and would be thrilled to own a heavy duty machine that is portable! I love making cushions and slipcovers and this machine would make sewing thru all the thicknesses a breeze!

  167. What a wonderful giveaway!! I hope I win, my cheapo sewing machine has really kept me from attempting anything other than basic curtains!!

  168. I signed up for the brochures!! Can’t wait to see them! Also, FYI, they asked how you found out about them but they had no category for Miss Mustard Seed, so I just put “Friend”!!

  169. I love the P. Kaufmann Feathered Friends Bluebird fabric! If I win, I can make some whimsical curtains for my master bedroom!

  170. Even though it is home decor fabric, I would love a summer dress made of the HGTV Color Study Platinum fabric! Thank you Sailright and Marion for this wonderful opportunity.

  171. I would love to use the P/Kaufmann Zoie Marine fabric to upholster a wing back bed Im hoping my husband will build me!

  172. Hello. Would love to win this sewing machine. I just discovered sail right’so YouTube channel!
    Thanks for the opportunity!

  173. This machine looks fantastic. I bought my machine 30 years ago as a single woman and considered it an “investment” … and I was right! I am the only one in my friendship group that has a sewing machine and knows how to sew. I do all the mending for friends, kids of friends, kids friends, Halloween costumes, home decor and small items to sell. A good machine becomes a good friend. My machine is still working but its hobbling along. Oh and now my 20 year old son sews! Thank you for having such a wonderful blog.

  174. Wow, would love to use this machine!! I’m still using the old ‘all purpose’ sewing machine which is frustrating.

  175. Wow! What a fantastic give-away! The fabrics on the website were beautiful….I was thinking accent pillows, and I love the P Kaufmann gentle gesture spa (so whimsical) and the Harper Home cheetah steel….how beautiful for my grey and white home.
Thank you, I would love to win!

  176. I think covington’s “need a dollar” black pearl would be perfect since i live in Florida, don’t you? thanks sandy

  177. This sounds like an amazing machine…would be wonderful to make slipcovers with. I would be forever grateful to own such an amazing machine…Love it

  178. OK, here’s the thing. I totally just met this lady through craigslist, weird right?, anyway, it turns out she used to upholster and slip cover furniture and offered to teach me how. And then seriously, not even a week later there’s this giveaway for a new sewing machine which would be perfect for just such a thing. Needless to say, I hope I win.

  179. It would be perfect timing to win this. I’m planning my first upholstery project–slipcovers. Good luck to all.

  180. Also, I really love the Waverly Candid Moment in a couple different patterns the one in ebony and the glacier one. I’m kinda in a bird phase right now and think that would be perfect for some many projects…

  181. I also signed up for their home catalog. I’ll have a nursing baby here in a couple of days so it won’t hurt to have something to look at, you know, every two hours….

  182. I just signed up for both of their catalogs! I am actually anxious to look at the marine catalog as we just inherited an old ‘fixer upper’ boat 😉

  183. I would love to win one of these heavy duty machines. May I be lucky today.

Love the pop of orange on the back of the last chair.

  184. Man, could I use this machine. I know what you mean about “run of the mill” machines. I have used and abused two machines now — the one I got as a child and the one I got to replace it. I have definitely pushed to and beyond their limits!

  185. Favorite fabric? I looked at them all and had a hard time deciding. So, one of my favorites:

P/K Lifestyles 402233 Cross Section Licorice 54″ Fabric

  186. Oh Marian, How I would love to win that sewing machine. My machine which I have used for the last 10 years bit the dust a couple of months ago when I was finishing up new window treatments for my kitchen and great room. Needless to say I had to borrow a machine to finish them and have not made the investment yet on a new machine. This one would be great.

  187. If I had this machine I wouldn’t need to borrow my friend’s industrial machine every time I want to sew something heavy–like marine grade vinyl boat seat covers.

  188. I’ve been wanting to purchase an upholstery machine! I have several projects lined up thanks to Miss Mustard Seed’s inspiration!!!!

  189. I just received my Sailrite catalog in the mail and I love the Kauffman Beatrice Mist. What a wonderful contest, thanks Marian and Sailrite for the chance to win this wonderful machine!

  190. I love the Covington Reagan Ebony/Ivory Buffalo Check. I need some for new curtains for my bed room.

  191. I would LOVE to be the recipient of this sewing machine. The biggest reason why I haven’t done any slipcovers from your tutorials is because my machine isn’t beefy enough to handle the material. Thanks for your post!

  192. What an awesome giveaway! I think one of my fav fabrics is Harper Home Abigail Spa Blue Fabric. Love the mix of blues. I also signed up for the catalog.

  193. I would like to refinish furniture and didn’t know about heavy duty sewing machines. I would love to have one!

  194. I’d like to pair the “Jennifer Adams Home Laval Seafoam Fabric” with MMS Dried Lavender or Shutter gray for a new look to an old chair I recently acquired for free! I’ve been looking for a new fabric website so again, thanks for sharing, Marian!

  195. I have had my faithful sewing machine since I was about 12. Over 30 years. I know exactly what you mean when you say it chokes on heavy fabric. It would be great to have a newer machine for the heavy stuff while hanging on to my first love for the lighter stuff. 🙂

  196. Yay! Signed up for the Sailrite catalog too! A girl can never have too much fabric! Thanks for this opportunity. I’m a faithful reader of your blog. You have inspired me to tackle sewing projects that I thought were impossible!!!

  197. Oh Marian, How I would love to win this machine. Needless to say my machine I have had for 10 years or longer bit the dust a couple of months ago when I was making new window treatments for my kitchen and great room. I had to borrow a machine to finish them. I have not yet invested in another machine as I was unsure of what I actually wanted. This one would be perfect as I am wanting to make slipcovers and reupholster some items in my hone. I signed up for their catalog and looked at their fabric. I would love to have the P. Kaufman Coral Beach outdoor fabric in coral to make new covers for the wicker chairs on my front porch. Hope I win.

  198. I don’t sew… but my husband does, ha! And, he reupholstered a chair for me last month using a regular machine. Boy, this “real” upholstery machine would be great, I’m sure!

  199. Wow! I love their fabrics. I’ve been looking for some pretty and different fabric for recovering my outdoor chair covers …and they have a very nice selection.

  200. This is a great source for fabrics! I may have to buy a boat so I can use the P/Kaufmann Outdoor Fish, Seahorse Blue and Zoie Blue Marine fabrics – yum!

  201. The P/Kaufmann Mantra Spark Fabric is one of my favorites. Their floral prints are wonderful.

  202. Thank you for the giveaway! I’m signed up for their catalog and look forward to receiving it. Moving to a remote area (in Alaska, whoohoo) where there will not be fabric stores – so this will be a great source. Thanks, Miss Mustard Seed!

  203. Thanks for this fantastic opportunity to possibly win such an outstanding
    heavy sewing machinei !

  204. I love the P Kaufman Paisley Park Mimosa as well as the Covington Samba Blossom, and , and and . . . .

  205. I would love a new machine. I have upholstered many goodwill and second hand pieces of furniture and have a rough time with it on my 20 year old machine. It loves to skip. Thanks for posting this giveaway. I just love reading your blog.

  206. Not sure my second comment took – I love the P Kaufman Paisley Park Mimosa and The Covington Samba Blossom. and many, many more !

  207. We’re on the downhill side of a whole house re-do and have many bare naked windows, sofa and chairs in need of throw pillows and a couple of old chairs needing some love. My sewing machine is a very, very old Singer that probably won’t handle the thicker layers of fabric. That lovely machine would be a Godsend!

  208. I love all the beautiful fabric. My fav is the Tommy Bahama Out door cayovista Black Sand also the P/Kaufmann Beatrice Midnight is pretty too. Love your blog…thank you for the wonderful give away.

  209. I sign up to receive their catalog and look forward to seeing all the goodies. Thank you for the giveaway. Love your blog…

  210. Very nice offer. I just started upholstering (trying too) and I’ve got hooked. This machine would be a great help. Love your blog. I love the Adelaide Tigerlily Fabric on the Home Decor Fabric page. I’ve signed up for the home catalog. I’m envisioning my new Sailrite in my craft room in that exact color. BAM!!!

  211. I would love one of those machines!!!!! I have a nice machine but it doesn’t need to get abused with heavy fabric and upholstery. You do such a nice job.

  212. WOW what a wonderful giveaway, I sew EVERYDAY of the week!
I have been a reader of yours for a long time now, and am looking forward

small basic machine will not handle. Off to check out the fabrics and sign up for the catalog

  215. Love the indoor fabrics how beautiful. I would go with a basic neutral and add some pops of color with pillows. We live at a lake they have some wonderful selections that would fit in

  216. Williamsburg Portobello Vase Laurel Fabric. I was ISO fabric that would go with blue, and I’ve used this same fabric twice in other colorways, and I adore it. Your giveaway may have solved my “need fabric with blue” problem–you rock! And, I would be dangerous with such a sewing machine. All sorts of projects would suddenly be possible . . . .

  217. I would love to have a heavy duty sewing machine. I have two sewing machines already but when it comes to heavy duty, they don’t get the job done.

  218. I went through all 2,058 of them and found so many I’d love to have, but I think I’d choose P/Kaufmann Adelaide Blue Bell Fabric as my first fabric to acquire if given the opportunity.

  219. I love to sew pillows and work a lot with heavy fabric. This would be a dream and I think my vocabulary would improve!

  226. This is perfect timing. I am replacing fabric on outdoor sling chairs. I plan on using my old Singer 401 to make the covers however since I will be sewing on nylon mesh fabric it would be great to have a machine that is made for upholstering. I’ve signed up for their catalog because I need some replacement parts for my old chairs. I have also used their videos on how to sew cushions, they have great information. Wonderful giveaway!

  227. I feel like a stalker by commenting again, but I signed up for the catalog from Sailrite. 🙂 I signed up to receive their emails awhile back after you mentioned them in a post. Thanks for offering to help with this giveaway!!!

  228. Oh, my goodness!! This is my first time visiting your site and I am a new fan already! You can tell you are using a quality machine! Having sent my “run-of-the-mill” machine to the Machine Dr. myself by trying to tackle jobs it wasn’t meant for (only to be told it would cost more to fix than replace) I myself searched for something more capable, but wasn’t able to because of the prices. It would be awesome to be able to get back to it again! Thanks for the inspiration!

  229. I pinned Covington Musee Blue Toile, but really there were so many beautiful prints. I love yours of course, your taste is why I follow you.

  303. Sailrite has many pretty fabrics. Two that catch my eye are P/Kaufmann Beatrice Ivory and P/Kaufmann Adelaide Mist.

  304. What an awesome giveaway!! I would love this machine. I have had a heavy-duty upholstery-capable machine in my wish-list forever. I love the industrial vibe and compact, portable design!

  305. I would choose the out door fabric “Traveler Lakeside” for my “new” porch furniture!

  306. So excited about this giveaway! Thank you, Sailrite, and thank you for hosting, Marion!

  307. I ordered the home catalog – but they need to add “Miss Mustard Seed” to the list of how I heard about them!

  308. looks like this is my machine that I need for sewing through denim and upholstery fabric projects.. My baby lock isn’t doing it anymore!

  309. I love the P/Kaufmann Feathered Friends fabric! I can just see curtains and pillows for my family room made out of it. We have a gloriously hideous/awesome 1960s free-standing gas fireplace in bright orange that is so hard to match, but this fabric may do the trick.

  310. So many beautiful fabrics to choose from, I choose Jennifer Adams Home Ascot Sandstone Fabric.

  311. Wow! WOW!! What a giveaway! I’ve had an interest in upholstery for a long, long time. I’m a “detail” gal whose eye is always looking closer. I go “ahh” over double welting, clap my hands at the prospect of a chair with three fabrics (!), transom windows, wainscoting, ball fringe on curtain panels, pillows – you get the picture. The unexpected details delight me. For that reason, I’ve desired to learn to upholster – to “re-create” – for a long time. I live in the Northern Virginia area, where affluence reigns and upholsters make money hand over fist. I’ve looked for upholstery classes, but no one is really teaching them. I’ve even considered enrolling in a professional upholstery program in Charlotte! Winning this machine, along with the video support Sailrite provides, and the MMS videos, would be an AMAZING kick in the seat of my pants to move from yearning to learning! Thank you, Marian!

  312. This would mean no more broken needles! Hooray! I would love this machine and put it to good use! Thanks Marian!

  313. I love love love this machine. I also love the P/Kaufmann Quiet Refuge Robins Egg fabric. I could really use this machine and fabric to cover my outside patio furniture as well as inside projects.

  314. Sunbrella 58012-0000 Volt Berry 54″ Upholstery Fabric
    Item #: 58012-0000

    This is a luscious color.

  315. I love the Kaufman Adelaide Tigerlilly fabric as well as the Beatrice Tigerlilly. I’ve been needing a heavy duty sewing machine for some time. I have postponed working on pillow cushions and doing some major sewing projects just for the fact I don’t have a sewing machine that will take the thickness of the fabric. I’d love to win the sewing machine.

  316. I need this because my babylock isn’t hacking it any more with the denim and upholstery fabric I’vve been trying to sew

  317. Would love to win this. I have been wanting a sewing machine, my is old and has issues. Love your blog, your decorating, and all your tutorials!

  336. Thanks for introducing me to Sailrite, I have just signed up for their new 2015 Home Catalog. They indeed have some gorgeous new fabrics, like the delicious fantastical floral and paisley motif screen print Adelaide from P/Kaufmann. It would make a gorgeous ruffed slipcover on a very shabby thrift store chair I have, just screaming to be classed up! How sublime it would be to sew with a new Sailrite Ultrafeed LS-1 PLUS, instead of the ‘shabby chic’ machine I borrowed from Wilma Flintstone….

  337. I have been wanting to make quivers and need a better machine than my Bernina. Would LOVE THIS!

  338. Funny….serendipity? I was just thinking about this machine as I broke my Bernina sewing through canvas drop cloth. Aargh! I like the functionality of the Sailrite machine, it would help me to whittle down my fabric stash (yes, I have an addiction!) but I especially love the vintage vibe to the machine and case.

  345. Woo Hoo! Just found your page via my MIL hopefully I’ll have some beginners luck! 😉

so many people trying to get on the site. As I see there are many many comments here.

The portability of Sailrite is incredible. With 3 generation sharing the same house; a sewing room is not an option. I too, have a dining room table that serves as the center of my universe. I would have to select the Picasso Cotton Duck #8 off white …can you tell I am living in the dream, in my mind already?!

Thanks for giving all of us a chance to be lucky!
    Cheers to you, Cynthia

  765. Awesome Giveaway! Yes, I am trying to sew cushion covers and my machine doesn’t like all the heavy layers!

  766. I’d love to make roman shades for my sunroom with Covington SD Clearwater Coral Fabric! Signing up for catalogue now!

  767. OK, 4th and so not eligible comment, but had to add… I really could have used this when I made my replacement breakfast area vinyl chair seat covers that required sewing vinyl around a curve.

My moms trusty Monkey(Montgomery) Wards machine sewed great, but does not have quite a long enough stitch to do the top/back of the chair pieces that are fitted… they need it.

Any way, thanks for being you and teaching us and letting us know about such great things we never realized we needed until we saw them!

    Debbie

  768. I have ordered the home catalog and I love the “Need a Dollar” sand and “Need a Dollar” storm fabrics and Love love love the “Clearwater Turquoise fabrics. If I won, I would use these fabrics to redo my dining room chairs. They would be magnificent! =D Thanks again, Janet

  771. What a wonderful idea! I know that there are many of us who would love such a sewing machine. I have sewn on several different regular sewing machines but never one that is really heavy duty. Also one that is not huge and or heavy. I have never heard of these particular brand but I am very interested. I have a list of projects such as upholstering a chair and making draperies and would love a machine that could handle these jobs with ease! I can’t wait to look at the fabrics.

    Betty

  792. Ordered the catalog and can’t wait to receive it.Loved so many of the fabrics, some of which were Waverly 670562 and P. Kaufmann 106217.

  793. I was sewing Sunbrella fabric that I had bought from Sailbrite today on my 55 year old sewing machine. What a treat it would be to have a heavy duty machine like the prize offer!

  794. Perfect timing! I just started my first upholstery project and am currently sewing everything by hand so it is taking ages to complete. I immediately would be putting the sewing machine to work!

  795. Hi MARIAN!

  796. I tried writing a little story of what happened last Sunday two times tonight but it must be too long for the amount of characters allowed or something. In short my mom and I came upon the Sailrite website a week ago while trying our first attempt at making roman shades. We spent days between watching the videos over and over making sure we knew the proper steps. Mom is 72 and still loves to sew. I did the measuring, drilling, and hardware installation. We finally were ready to install on Sunday when I realized I forgot to drill two holes the header board. I detached the fabric that was attached with Velcro and pushed it what I thought was far enough out of the way. I started to drill, and the bit broke, jarring my hand forward and right through the brand new shade. My heart sank and I felt like the worst person in the world. I had to tell mom what a mistake I had just made. I went to tell her and she wasn’t even angry. Her only concern was if we would have enough fabric to try again. I couldn’t believe it. I have not slept well since and feel so badly and she isn’t even angry. She said we’ll try to make the next one even better. What a gem! I am so blessed! Through this experience she taught me more than ONE life lesson.

  797. Thanks for helping bring such a great give-away chance to all of us. I could use one of those machines about now as I’m planning slipcover projects for my living room. Not sure how I feel about putting my regular sewing machine through that torture (or myself, for that matter).

  798. I just got a new basic machine after wearing out my 33-year-old workhorse, but the new one is very lightweight and, while it seems like it’s going to be a good machine, it probably isn’t going to handle slipcovers and heavy trims as well as the Sailrite would. Thanks to you and them for a great giveaway! Off now to look at fabrics.

  799. I think Waverly Sun N Shade Siren Song Silver Cloud Fabric would be beautiful for cushion on the Adirondack chairs in the back yard. I like the earth tones in the pattern

  800. Dear Marian,
WOWWW, thanks for such a nice opportunity to win the Sailrite Ultrafeed LS-1 Plus, so grateful for the chance!!! REally appreciate it, LOVE ALL YOUR WORK and Milk Paints too! You’re so inspiring, have got to thank you for that also! BIG THANKS!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
    All the best,
    Joan

  801. Thanks for hosting the give away for this sturdy Sailrite sewing machine. I recently purchased a number of vintage grain sacks and I’m not sure if my regular sewing machine can handle sewing through the weight of this fabric, so it would wonderful to try the Sailrite machine. Also, MMS, Marian, thanks for all your daily inspirational posts.

    1. I could really use a machine like that for all my sewing needs-I use alot of old blue jean fabric to make quilts and my benina is just doing it for the weight of the fabric-you would make my year!!!!

  808. The Ikat and the printed Damask patterns are two of my favorite patterns right now. Sailrite fabric selections which would be lovely for a cheerful beach house decor: Covington Tangier Caribbean Fabric
    #106101, #106102 & #106103

  811. At 70 years old, my parents built a home for the first time–and it is gorgeous! I would love to pick out fabrics to assist my mother in making some new window treatment and reupholstering some antiques. Her present decor includes blues and yellows. I liked so many, but theP/Kaufmann Beatrice Blue Bell Fabric

  816. Thank you Marion, for your oh-sooo inspiring blog. I look forward to hearing from you every day. As I am slowing to retirement, I have a long to-do list (as you do). Watched one of Sailrite’s videos last week, as I was needing a refresher on box cushions for the patio set (can’t find any I like in the stores). Saw the machine they used, but didn’t realize it was THEIR machine. How cool is that, that you have an opportunity to give one to a follower. Best regards, Sandra

  822. I really need this machine. A few months ago I was making some sunblocking shades for our boat and I could not through the heavy sail canvas and the trim. I had to take it to a canvas shop because my machine couldn’t handle the thickness. I also love to change out my pillows frequently and make lots of pillow covers. Sometimes it’s tough to do a heavy weight welting and the double cover thickness.

  824. A friend suggested your website as I would like to sew slipcovers for a pair of weathered, but well-loved arm chairs that have moved around the globe for many years with me. 913. I have been planning on making curtains for the rooms in our new home in Chicago and I have fallen in love with the Dena Home 900250 Peaceful Perch Blueberry Fabric. The fabric print is so fun and playful and would tie all of the colors of our home together beautifully…not to mention it’s durable, which would be perfect for our no-fuss family. It would be so lovely to win this sewing machine and use a beautiful fabric like this one in our home!

  914. I would love to win this – I make quits and want to venture into the world of slipcovers!!

  915. Wow – it was hard to pick a fabric – I love the Waverly Imperial Dress Twill Blue and the Jennifer Adams Bukhara Horizon. Both are beautiful!

  917. There are so many wonderful choices!! One of my favorites is P/Kaufmann Outdoor Zoie Tangerine Fabric.

  918. I have been looking through the fabrics. I would choose a houndstooth fabric from the P/Kaufman collection and make a tote bag. This machine can get the job done with leather straps! And I love to upcycle belts.

  919. I NEED this machine! New curtais, recover10 dinning chairs, 2 occasional chairs to reupholster , and curtains for family room.

  920. Deck cushions in p Kaufman outdoor zone blue marine #105114, p Kaufman sariz sugarcane dinning chairs, and p Kaufman paisley park lagoon for curtains?

  921. There are so many fabrics to choose from! I am loving these: the P/Kaufmann Sariz Pool 54″ Fabric, the Waverly 670562 Ballad Bouquet Robins Egg 55″ Fabric, and the P/Kaufmann Finley Turquoise Fabric are some of my favorites

  922. Wow! This would be an excellent machine to use! My little bargain one also has a hard time keeping up with the thicker fabrics. What an awesome giveaway! Thank you : )

  927. I would love to win this sewing machine! I have forced my machine to do so many things that it was not designed for, I can’t even count!

  928. Amazing prize to offer 🙂 I have a right now that I’ve been planning on reupholstering for months now but didn’t have the right know-how or equipment to do it. A Sailrite would be a good start to accomplish my project.

  929. I really love the P. Kaufmann “Beatrice” fabric on the Sailrite website. Every color is beautiful, as are their names, like Tiger Lily, Blue Bell, Hollyhock….hmmmm…maybe in a garden inspired room…

  930. I would love to make outdoor cushion covers with Sunbrella 4612-0000 Aruba 46″ Marine Grade Fabric!!

  931. Signed up for both catalogs…who knows what you might be able to do with canvas?!

  932. What a generous offer!! I have already signed up for both catalogs.
I would love to have this machine – my little old singer just can’t handle thicker layers of fabric.
I’m inspired by your blog to try re-covering a chair. There are so many great fabrics but maybe in Waverly Strands Charcoal, or P/Kaufmann Beatrice Midnite or even something fun like Inner Soul Majestic? And we have outside chairs that need new cushions, for that I really like the Fischer Lagoon.

  933. This is an amazing giveaway! Thanks for sharing with us. I love that they have so many fabric choices.

  934. I love so many of the fabric choices. Here are three of my favorites:

  943. I would love to win this machine and be able to expand what I am currently able to do!

  944. I would love this machine! My poor old Singer is struggling through my upholstery projects! Thanks!

  945. Hi,

I have been planning on making slipcovers using your tutorials as my guidance. I have been procrastinating because I am not sure my sewing machine is up to challenge. I would love to have a machine that is made for upholstery jobs. My mom used to do her own reuphostery and as a child I guess I thought every mom did that kind of thing. I always thought she was special but now I know she was ahead of her time, she certainly didn’t have a special machine to sew with.

    Thanks,
    Cindy

  946. P Kauffman always has nice designs, as does Waverly. I like the Jane Adams, too, which is a new line to me. If I had the time to browse all the 2,000+ items, I might pick something different, (a Sunbrella or other outdoor for the patio pillows), but I really like: P Kaufmann Adelaide Tigerlilly for Patio pillows; the same fabric in Blue Belle for bedroom pillow shams; P Kaufmann Midnight (the scroll pattern, forgot the name!) for a bedspread, and one of the plainer Sunbrella or Waverly fabrics for a sofa slipcover. That would keep me busy for awhile!

  947. Just ordered Sailrite’s 2015 Home Fashions Catalog, excited! They didn’t have an option to type in anything other than their default selections in answer to “How Did You Hear About Us?”, so I couldn’t give credit to you, Miss Mustard Seed!

  948. Your cute ottoman topper has inspired me to give it a try…especially since my dogs consider the ottoman their throne for outdoor viewing. I think this will be a fun way to change my great room for the seasons…just like the pillow covers that I rotate through. I’d love a heavier duty, yet portable sewing machine for such projects!

  949. I have been wanting to try to reupholster my favorite chair but I don’t have the right sewing machine. This machine would be awesome to win!

  950. OOOO, yes please! I’ve also overloaded my generic machine… would love to try one of these!

  951. How wonderful it would be to make slipcovers for our living room furniture to complete the look I envision for our home. Oh happy day!

  952. I inherited a little 30 year old Elna that I drug from South Africa when we immigrated to the US. I love my little Elna and winning this Sailrite machine will save its life, since I have been jamming projects trough it that ( lets just say) it wasn’t made for! Thank you for the opportunity Miss Mustard Seed!

  953. I like the P Kaufman Watercolors Mist fabric 105080. This would look awesome on a chair painted with a MMS gray….

  954. Loving the covingtob black/white ticking for a drapery project. The price is great, too!

  956. This sewing machine would be the final push to actually start some of the projects I have been dreaming about!

  957. I would love to win this machine. I started sewing as a teenager and made most of my clothes, made pillows from scaps, etc. When I became a mom, I smocked all of my girl’s dresses, costumes, and PJs on a second hand and very loved Janome machine. I also made quilts, dust ruffles, shams and much more. Then after a lot of life changing events 15 years passed without me having the time or energy to sew again. Now, I have gotten back into sewing since my daughter has given me her little machine. I just completed 4 sets of lined curtains for my kitchen/dining and have sooooo many more projects I can’t wait to complete. I would love love love to have this machine.

  958. I’m still using my Athena 2000 – it’s 40 years old and still works but I’ve also been doing a bit of upholstery and the poor thing strains a bit trying to get through all those layers – a new machine to use for that would be great – then the poor old thing could just be used for light duty sewing.

  959. I browse the Home Decor Fabric page and I love P. Kaufmann’s Adelaide Mist print !!!

  968. I have 2 sad little slipper chairs that have drop cloths pinned onto them… I would slipcover them in Harper Home Vivian Thistle Fabric#106546S or P/Kaufmann Gentle Gesture Spa Fabric#106584S — can’t decide!

  969. My wife would be so excited if I win this! And I signed up for the catalog.

You might want to let them know that in the box at the end of the sign-up where it says “how did you hear about Sailrite”; Miss Mustard Seed is not listed. That’s how I learned about them. 1128. Hi, my name is Jim, and have two daughters… Trisha and Erica
Well, there is Maria, my loving wife.
So to make things short we’re just an average family and all have to improvise to be able to manage our income .
a few years back I was able to acquire a singer sewing machine at a garage sale for 5 bucks since then I was able to learn how to sew and help my growing daughters and wife do some sewing altering their clothes, sewing tore up pillowcases, most having difficulty sewing their denim jeans as they grew up and sometimes I had to sew it by hand to fix it because none of this so call heavy sewing machine can do a thick layer of denim.
I saw your an online regarding SAILRITE SEWING MACHINE and it was a dream to have one but the price we really cannot afford. we don’t earn much but as we go on with our lives I was able to cope up doing a handyman job just to save a little so I can afford to buy one.
a sewing machine like SAILRITE will help me do side jobs perfectly sewing car seats, boat canopy, denim jeans, sofa, and so on.
I believe that the SAILRITE sewing machine is the only one that can accomplish everything perfectly when it comes to sewing
as I witness in your online DEMO.
