Meet Eulalie (the cow)

I shared a few weeks ago my desire for a cow painting.  Well, that desire has been thoroughly satisfied, first by the wonderfully whimsical cow painting I received from my artist friend Laura and most recently by a stunning and classic painting by one of my readers, Cindy Austin

I can’t even express how much I love this painting and how blessed I feel to have the original.  I would definitely grab it if my house was on fire and my family was safely out.  It’s one of my favorite things in my house right now.

I decided to prop it above my family room fireplace. It works beautifully with the wall color and pops of apple green in the room.  It’s just…perfect.  Sigh.  I felt such a fondness for the cow that I decided to name her…Eulalie (yoo-lay-lee).  Fitting for a classic cow, I think.  Don’t worry about Laura’s cow…I moved her to the living room, where the blue shows better and the impressionist style plays against the room’s formality.

If you love Eulalie as much as I do, you can buy a Giclee print from Cindy for around $400, plus shipping.  In case you’re not familiar with Giclee prints, they are the closest to an original painting you can get.  They are made with a high resolution fine art printer and are truly durable “museum quality” reproductions.  So, it’s not just a poster.  Cindy also has original paintings for sale and works on commission.  You can contact her through her blog for more information or to place an order.

Thank you so much, Cindy, for blessing me with your talent.  I am really honored to have such an amazing work of art in my home.

One last bit of business…the winner of the Abodent Giveaway is Tami from This and That from Tami.  Congrats!  Please send me an e-mail, so I can put you in touch with the good people at Abodent!

  1. I became familiar with Cindy through blogging and then in turn her amazing artistic talent for oils! I agree with you that I have never seen a better cow painting! I will share a secret, Cindy sent me a sneak preview of it to see how I liked it before she mailed it to you. I was bowled over and couldn't add enough exclamation points to my response on how wonderful and expressive her creation was. She is a hard working artist and I hope we can say "we knew her when…."!

  2. Nice to meet you, Eulalie … you're beautiful! I know you'll enjoy your new home … you're in a perfect spot, too.

  3. I met Cindy through my blog and am constantly amazed at her artistic abilities….wow, just wow, is all the words I can come up with. Your cow is beautiful…so soft and muted, but still has so much presence…she's beautiful!

    Have a great week
    Missy 🙂

  7. So much for the pictures of great grandma and grandpa on the mantle. This is a fabulous portrait and she looks like a beloved family member.

  8. I LOVE that cow painting! It looks gorgeous in your room. Lately, I've been obsessed with cow and horse pictures.

  9. what's rarer than the gorgeous cow painting hung over the mantle? the miss mustard toes propped up on the table and sitting still.

  11. Marian,

Thank you so much for making Eulalie look so beautiful. It is the most fun thing ever to have her in your amazing home, and know that you love her. That's really what painting is all about, capturing the spirit of something, mixing it with some part of yourself, and then having someone really care for it…

    Cindy

  12. Beautiful! I would love to have something like that in my home. And I love the color of your wall! My struggle right now is finding paint that works for my home.

  13. Seriously B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.
Having grown up in farm country in the Midwest but living the greater part of life as an urbanite, this just pulls at my heart. My little peabrain is spinning…sell some of my stash to buy one of the Giclee prints. Then paint my toenails and….never mind! Such a fun way you've showcased this outrageously breathtaking piece of art. Xo, Sue

  14. So what do you think about original art now? It really adds a new dimension to your life, doesn't it? It makes you smile way more than pillows and TVs and outdoor furniture. That is one beautiful painting, so life like. Ann

  15. Amazing work, truly!
My Mother is and has been a cow collector since I was a little girl, she would love your cow painting 🙂

I feel like I am looking at one of my fire places in my last home same layout and size as well as the rock, yet one day 10 years ago I took and painted it white with stucco block wall paint 🙂
I love that wire basket of yours on the table, everything looks so peaceful.

    Blessings
    Dore

  16. If you only had not included those feet in that picture! They're not a pretty sight and it takes attention away from the cow. I'd rather look at the cow.
Sorry I'm so blunt, but pleeeease…

  17. i am an artist as well…and just love this painting! having the cow so relaxed and laying down, just makes you want to curl up and relax too…looks like you are doing just that!

  18. She is beautiful and so is her name….I would never have thought a cow could look so elegant..
You are lucky to have her!

  19. OMG! You are so very blessed to have Cindy paint a special cow for you!! I have joined her blog as a follower and I have found her to be so down to earth and genuine and SUCH a talented artist. I would LOVE to have any one of her paintings. Recommend everyone to visit Cindy's blog. Eulalie is beautiful and she looks great in your family room along with your painted toes too! Patty/BC

  20. I never thought I'd describe a cow as beautiful but that truly is a beautiful painting. It really looks great in your home.
Sounds like you had a heck of a day, your husband was so sweet to send you to bed early.
    Have a super blessed week,
    Missy

PS I was actually thinking how cute your feet look in the pic! I guess some people just lack a sense of whimsy or humor.

  21. I love the cow. Eulalie is lovely. You are a lucky gal to have this picture in your home. In my home I would have to have a horse hanging over my fireplace. They surround my home – in the pasture and in the barn.

I love your sense of style and whimsy. Keep up the good work.

  22. Wow, I'm not a huge fan of cows but I LOVE THIS! I think I'm turning into a fan!
