Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

My last few days have been spent at the swimming pool, science center and just hanging out at my parent’s house.  I hardly know what to do with myself.  I’ve been wearing my painting clothes, just so I feel at home!  I’m having a great time, but I definitely wouldn’t miss our weekly gathering.

Here are my favorites from last week…
(I actually had time to sit and look through a lot of the posts this week.  It was luxurious!)

Jedbel from The Pear Tree Cottage transformed an outdated brick fireplace into this sleek mantle and surround (and she shares a full tutorial on how to do it!)  I love the pictures of her home and her casual style.

Katie from Wild Wood Creek used one of my favorite colors (aubusson from Annie Sloan) to give this chunky Craig’s List dresser a gorgeous and dramatic new look.  Love it!

And lastly, I love this industrial meets French desk area that Shannon from AKA Design created.  I just love the way she put together things that don’t “match”, but it all works.

Thanks girls (and some guys) for all of the inspiration.
Here are the rules for the furniture party…
1.) Your post has to be about furniture.  Please, please, please…just furniture.  If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture.  You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list!  Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.
2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.
3.) This party will close Saturday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

Hi MMS! I have a question for you and maybe I should do a blog about this and get some input but I thought I'd go the 'the source' for some input first. I have a very old dresser that was that old dark tiger stain finish. I painted it white back in the 70's however, the veneer on the ends of the dresser has bubbled a lot and looks gross. What is the best way to deal with this. I'm not sure if I'll keep it as I really don't have room for it but I almost hate to part with it. It needs a lot of work. I know you'd whip up some great makover in a day if you had this piece. 🙂 I'd really appreciate your suggestions on this if you could please? Thanks so much. No hurry, by the way as it will sit in the basement for a long while! Enjoy the weekend! Pamela

      Hello Ms. MS!
Thanks for hosting — I am a total furniture junkie and LOVE this blog party.

But what really got me laughing OUT LOUD this week was your previous post about your kitchen cabinets. I've painted kitchen cabinets in two homes now, and each time as I've stuck my stupid big head in under the upper cupboards to paint them, thrown out my shoulder, and come away with hair bearing evidence of Biscuit White or Queen Anne's Lace, I've thought "Why the *&^%&@$ am I doing this??? Who's going to notice?"

It's like when our Dad used to make us scrape and paint the bottom of the old row boat every summer; we kept telling him, "But Dad, only the fiddler crabs will see it!"

If you have guests who are bothered by unpainted door backs or cabinet bottoms, either get new friends or give 'em more wine.

All best wishes for a fabulous Fourth — Cass

Thank you for featuring my dresser! When I saw my piece had been featured, it took my breath away. Let me tell you why.

It was a cold and stormy winter in February 2011 when I stumbled across decorating blogs. Where had I been? This was a whole new world to me. Among the first decorating blogs I started reading were Miss Mustard Seed and Funky Junk Interiors. Marion and Donna were having the Copy Me Challenge. I loved their posts and became hooked. I love decorating, thrifting, gardening and photography and thought refurbishing furniture was the perfect hobby for me. I couldn't wait for winter to pass and 50 degree weather to come along so I could start painting. I wanted to submit my projects to the blog parties, so I started my blog Wildwood Creek.

So thank you, Marion and Donna, for being an inspiration to me. It's quite an adventure and I'm having a blast.

    14. Cayenne Paper

I was too late to post my buffet makeover for this linky party, but will add it another time. But I want to thank you for your blog and inspiration b/c I would have never thought I could make it look so good! Loving that ASCP and wax. I made it up to Luckett's after you replied saying I wasn't too far away. LOVE that place and seeing your beautiful pieces in person. Definitely need to go back someday for more time to look. Saw a cute gossip bench on the porch for like $39 and am kicking myself for not snatching it up that day!!!

    15. らきぷゆ

I love your new cookie designs, Laura. They are so cute and I love the polar bear ones as well and t
