A Christmas Tree and a Song…

It’s two days before Christmas and I finally put up my “pretty tree.”  It’s the first live tree I’ve had since I was six and I am sold on buying live trees.  It is so beautiful.  My artificial one is going to the thrift store the day after Christmas.
And I’m crazy about the new tree skirt I made.

The little girl in me still loves a twirly skirt.

Sorry about the bad lighting.  These pictures were taken at night.
Sooo…some of you know about my musical background.  Well, I thought Christmas was a good time to share it with you.
(I’m a little nervous about posting this.  I’m really not a performer anymore…)
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Your tree is so pretty–just exactly the way a Christmas tree should be. Your tree skirt is fabulous! But your pure, sweet voice and the loveliness of guitar accompaniment are such a treat.

  7. Any chance you'll post a tutorial for the fabulous tree skirt sometime before Christmas 2011? I LOVE IT! I might need the tutorial in.like.July. to get it made in time. 🙂

  8. Oh how beautiful that song was that you sang. It was like you were just singing to me (oh wait you were! I was the only one looking at the screen when I watched it LOL) Merry Christmas Marian, and to your family I can't wait to see what the New Year brings for you and your career adventures.

  9. My daughter ran in when she heard you sing and eagerly asked "who's that?!?" So cute! Beautiful song and beautiful tree. I vow to never own a fake tree (unless I'm 80)!

  10. Bought a tear to my eye! Thank you. Have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year. Now YOU get off of the computer and spend some much needed time with your loved ones (just kidding!!)!

  11. So I already totally envy you and want to be you when I grow up, but your beautiful voice, mad guitar skills, and that TO DIE FOR tree skirt puts it over the top.

  14. You have such a beautiful voice! I can picture you on broadway right now. (since I have 3 little kids I can also picture you on a Disney movie) heehee Merry Christmas! Keep music going in your family (I play viola and my kids play piano)

  15. You just continue to Bless us with your many talents!! We are just so lucky!

Thank you for giving so freely of yourself in sharing your love of decorating with us. May your Holiday's be Richly Blessed in return!

    Merry Christmas!

  16. Don't send your tree to the thrift shop!! You can use it as a prop at your shops, or practice staging ornaments on it, or create different themes on it. At worst, you can cut it up and use the boughs for decorating or all sorts of new things. Ann And a Merry Christmas to you.

  17. Love your voice! Enjoyed the song, accompanied by the guitar..very special! Thank you for being brave!
Please do it AGAIN some day soon!
Love the tree skirt: please share how!

  19. Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures you have been posting, and for the lovely song! May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

  20. Don't be nervous. Your singing was very nice and I wish I could play the guitar too. I hope that you and your family have a very Merry Christmas. Please tell us how you made that tree skirt!!! Did you use a ruffler foot our did you make all those ruffles the old fashion way? I love your idea of using ruffles.
I enjoy machine embroidery and sewing. After seeing your tree skirt I'm thinking wouldn't it be great to make a tree skirt in 6 to 8 sections and then alternate the sections making embroidered sections and ruffled sections. I think you just inspired me again! Thanks

  21. I love to see people bragging on my daughter. Did I ever tell you she also caught her first fish all by herself at age 5? Or did you know she's also a crack shot with a snub-nosed revolver?!

  22. Beautiful tree, skirt, and voice! Of course you sing, too! Loved your video. Merry Christmas to you & your family! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for making 2010 so special.

    Christmas blessings,
    Jami

  23. everything is beautiful and look amazing. I love the skirt, i feel like putting it over my shoulders, like a shawl. Merry Christmas to you too.

  24. I loved your song. Thank you for sharing. I notice some old sleigh bells hanging on your door. I have some that look just like that. For all the years growing up they were on the back of our front door just like yours. I have placed them around my metal angel on the coffee table this year, because they are getting very fragile as the leather gets more brittle. Memories. I liked your video…It is so nice to see a blog friend in action. It makes you seem so much more real. Thanks again,
    Sheila

  25. Get out of here girl!!! you sound great! And guess what? We had a beauiful white Christmas yesterday!

Love your tree and skirt. I may just have to try a live tree for the first time next year!

  26. Marian, now I see that you have one up on Martha Stewart…..she doesn't have any musical talent that I know of. Your voice is lovely! And your tree skirt is something I would love to wear when the holidays are over, if you could insert an elastic waist!

  27. I was so moved by your Christmas performance for your readers. Thanks so much for doing that.

Happy New Year to you and I look forward to another year of following and being inspired by your creative endeavours.
