True Value is launching the “DIY True Stories” Contest! Here are the details from their press release…
“Do you have an outrageous, shocking or just plain overdue home improvement project on hand? Need a little extra cash or help getting it done? Say no more, True Value is rolling out the Facebook “DIY True Stories” Contest, where ambitious DIYers are being asked to tell all for a chance to win $2,500 to complete their project, receive expert advice to help them get the job done right and the opportunity to star in their very own DIY web series on Facebook.
From July 7 to August 15, DIYers looking to get their hands dirty will have the chance to submit their wildest home improvement endeavor. To enter, contestants must first “like” True Value’s Facebook
The real fun begins on August 29 when True Value will announce three winners! Each winner will receive an in-person consultation with a “Master of All Things Hardwarian,” or True Value employee, at their local True Value store and $2,500 to help them get the job done. They’ll then chronicle their project’s progress in a five part web series that will be featured on True Value’s Facebook page and savor the spotlight as DIY reality stars.
Enter for a chance at DIY stardom by visiting www.facebook.com/TrueValue
If you remember, I was the winner of the 2010 True Value “Design SOS” Contest, so I can say with authority that this is one you want to enter. After winning $2500 for my 1940’s bathroom makeover, I had a visit from my local “Hardwarians” of Cashman’s True Value Hardware in East Berlin, PA and some other True Value representatives. They all crammed into my teeny-tiny bathroom and gave advice on what I would need and how we could accomplish what we wanted.

Hi Marian! Had to stop by and tell you that I got to meet Christie today from DeKalb! She's carrying that Annie Sloan paint in her shop now, which is only 15 min. from the farm…so excited…you two know eachother via email she said – her shop was so nice!!
Oh I have a really good one!
Your video rocked!!!! Love how you went through each and every faux pas of the bathroom's hang-up … really, I think the window to no where was the cincher for the win! {though the ballet bar is quite the strange item too}.
Can't wait to see the finished result of your 1940's bathroom makeover! Those guys from TV really look like they know their stuff … their visit wasn't short on opinions, I am sure 🙂
Hmmmm … I am going to have to think about what areas of our house could use a makeover and go for the gold in this years contest!!!!!
Have a lovely weekend 🙂
Just entered! Would LOVE to win this to have my master bath re-done. The ONLY room in the house that has not been touched since we moved in 4 years ago! I've even re-done previously re-done rooms and still haven't attempted the master bath! ha!

Oh, I'm entering this one. Yes ma'am. I'll be sure to include the 3 ft. gaping hole in my hallway due. Thanks for letting us know! Can't wait to see your finished bathroom.
Oh my gosh our bathroom is pathetic!! In fact we have been getting the crazy expensive estimates to have it done ~

I wish they did this 25 yrs ago..we had a lulu of a bathroom (actually worse than yours!) But, this is a wonderful idea!
Wow, how great was your entry. A window to no where and the pink plastic tiles, my parents had those, they are horrible. I can't wait to see your finished project.
hugs,
Donna
so darn cute!!!! no wonder you won! you looked like you knew exactly what to do and where the money would go. a lesson to be studied!
love the DIY pants! 🙂
I totally feel you. Our house was built in the 1940s as well. We have the same light with the outlet on it. Not to mention, it is the only outlet in the entire bathroom! Only one thing can be plugged in at a time. Our medicine cabinet is just like yours too. However, at least you can still see out our window. our tub is horrible though, it has rust stains and other stains that no matter how hard I scrub, I can't get them out. lol. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I totally know where you were coming from. 🙂
The bathroom I now have is a BIG step up for me from what I had growing up at home. We had an outhouse we used as there was no indoor plumbing. Congrats on your win.
thanks so much for sharing about this contest!
