The art side of my business has been slowly chugging along for a few years. I go through spurts and seasons but didn’t really commit to producing enough to have regular art sales (about once every six weeks) until this year. And, wow! What a difference it’s made. I know I shouldn’t be surprised that commitment and follow-through can have a significant impact on many aspects of growth, but it’s still surprising. I find myself feeling more like an artist, like that might be the simple answer when someone asks what I do. It’s not all I do, but it’s feeling more and more like it’s becoming the main thing I do. Not only am I having regular art sales, but I am also getting more requests from clients who want custom work for specific projects or who would like to carry my work in their retail spaces. More of my paintings are also being picked up for licensing, which has always been just a very small part of my business.
It does mean that I have to work smarter and create some new systems to make it all work, but I’m enjoying bouncing between working on my house, writing here on the blog, and creating new paintings on the easel. I am feeling a bit of the crunch, though, that comes when I don’t feel like I have enough time to study, read, experiment, and play, but I think I’ll get more organized and efficient once school starts.
Anyway, I have been producing a lot of paintings, some of which have already been picked up by clients and collectors, but I do have a nice collection of original works for my next art sale.
Here are details and tips for shopping the sale…
- The sale will go live HERE. Paintings will not be visible until 1:00 pm EST on Friday, August 25, 2023. The paintings are first come first serve.
- There is only one of each and they typically sell quickly.
- For faster secure checkout, set up an account and sign in HERE before the sale starts.
- Prices include free shipping to the US. Any shipping overages for international buyers will be reimbursed.
- The paintings are not reserved in your cart. They are only yours once you pay, so I suggest checking out quickly with the painting you want most and then circling back for other paintings. Shipping is free inside the US, so you will not incur extra charges for checking out separately. I will combine all of your orders and they’ll ship together.
- If you do miss out on a painting, you can send me an e-mail and I will give you early access before my next sale goes live.
- All paintings are finished with Gamvar Gloss and are meant to be framed without glass. They are also labeled and signed on the back.

As always, thank you so much to all of my collectors! I was just talking to someone the other day about how I got started with oil painting. I feel such affection and gratitude for my blog followers who encouraged me and even purchased some of my earliest work. My demographics show that the majority of my followers are closer to my mom’s age than my own and it felt like there were a few dozen honorary moms who wanted to put my work on their fridge, so to speak. It meant a lot then and it still means a lot today. I am still humbled and honored each time a painting is purchased. Not only does it make the work I’ve already done worthwhile, but it pushes me to create more and continue to grow as an artist.

Marion…I have watched your blog since your began and have enjoyed ALL PHASES of your artistic growth and practices. Your home decor skills have been a joy to see but I must say your painting skills really define you now. Your vision and technique have really grown. I really notice in the knife in this grouping of paintings and also in the blue and white pitcher… the warmth in the dogs eyes. I suppose soonyou will leave blogging as you might want to develop your art. I hope I get to see you finish this new house before you do. As is said for everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven
Do you take commissions for paintings? I’d like to have a couple done and I love your style with the rabbits and dogs.
I don’t plan on leaving my blog any time soon. It’s become a part of my creative process over the years…make, photograph, write about it, share. What I write about may evolve, as it has over the years, but I’m not ready to set a blog retirement date! 🙂
What is the best way to frame these paints on boards? Thanks
The nice thing about the boards is they are 1/4″ thick, so they can be tucked in pretty much any frame where a piece of glass and backing would fit. I’ll often find old frames, pop out the glass, and put a painting in. I also mostly paint in standard sizes, so it’s easy to find new or vintage/antique frames that will work so you don’t have to pay for a custom frame.

Hi I love the your work and progress over time. I have noticed that you don’t seem to use bright colors. Do you paint using brighter colors? I like to moody vibe but they would not work in my sunny home(mind).
I tend to paint more tonally, but there are plenty of amazing artists who really shine with bright colors!
I enjoy all your paintings, but I love the dog ones the most….You capture their spirit very well, especially in the eyes and face….Great job!
